In order to not encounter these when flying over swamp use bug repellent or fly high enough to where the demon bugs won’t load in. Killing one is also very easy, get a journeyman or better crossbow and keep shooting at it until it uses its ranged attacks, dodge the attacks ( or lead it to a paracer and to distract it), and keep shooting at it while it’s close to the ground to kill it. Killed around 50 of these wretched beasts this way :]

I play on the Island map on single player. I killed two of these and never saw another.

Hey so do not go near swamp if you only have a pteranodon, because ONE OF THESE STUPID THINGS JUST GUNNED DOWN MY PTERANODON WITH FIREBALLS AND DROPPED ME STRAIGHT TO AN ALPHA RAPTOR. I managed to kill it by leading it under a titanosaur but the raptor finished me off

Easiest tip to survive from it specially if you are a low level is to quickly find a paracathireium(the mini bronco guys) or if you are close to any large creature,fly under or around them and the rhynio will lose it's agro from you tame. If it doesn't in your case then RIP to your lovely dino. I had an encounter with them when I was going from redwood swamp and literally 5 of 100+ jumped on my nearly maxed out argy. The swamp and big and I was in panic so I just kept flying and thought to say my final goodbye to my love my argy but suddenly when I had 200 hp left a group of diplo,paracethirum and bronto was just outside the edge of that swamp. I didn't notice them but was going from that side so I just sweeped under one of them and afterthat I was saved. None of the rhynio came to me but rather started demolishing every freaking large creatures infront of me. Since I knew I was safe, I just sat down to see the brontos and others get obliterated. My argy too only had below 2k hp from his 10-12k hp but damn never gonna forget this incident.

When wild this thing can and will target megalodons but it can't go in water so it will either wait until the megalodon swims high enough to melee attack it, or it will start shooting resin at it until it dies, so this proves that megalodons are inferior to carnos and similar to sabertooths and raptors in the predator and prey hierarchy. And since nothing attacks each other in the ocean, this also proves that mosasaurs and plesiosaurs are similar to the megalodon so in theory they can be aggroed on by any rex, giga, carcharo, yuty, allo, megatherium, or rhynio.

Btw these guys are actually hunters they will hunt you and lock on to you unlike any other creature. Not even a giga does that. One time I ran out of stamina on my pt with one of these chasing me so I dismounted and ran really, 30sec later my pt died and then like 5sec later I got no scoped.

You can't outrun it unless you have your own rhynio so if you don't have it yet it's either kill it or distract it and if you're on a land Dino you're screwed these and their ranged sap attacks are deadly

highly recommend going as far away until you can't hear any sound effects coming from them cuz the range where you can't hear their flying or attacking sounds is a good estimate if not exact to their aggro range

more tips:

idk if this is with all flyers but they really hate it when you fly cuz theres a high chance they will stop attacking the creature theyre attacking and focus on you when you come near them and only focus on you (i tried this with another rhynio) so try to land next to another paracer nd hope they target the paracer instead

and lastly if youre being shot at try slightly running in circles cuz you will get hit last

I just got ambushed by one and I got out of the game so fast, I don't know if it's is even safe to get back in the game. Send help, this creature is scary to encounter on a pt

I literally just lost pteranodon 5 minutes ago and went here just to complain how annoying these f-ers are cus:

- Annoyingly fast

- Surprisingly deal a lotta damage

- Oddly huge aggro radius (I wasn't even that close, jeez)

- Ugly ahh looking

It all happened really fast, I wasn't even prepared. I WASN'T EVEN AWARE THAT THESE THINGS EXIST IN ARK MOBILE. I DESPISE THEM ALREADY.

Lvl 20 female impregnated my 406 base level rex, completed 4 feedings. My lvl 92 hatchling has 10,9k hp and 373% melee before imprinting.

Major revelation: If you're flying in the swamp, wear a ghillie suit to not get you and your flier immediately get spotted and targeted. (only works when the wild rhynio is currently attacking something, don't randomly go up to a stationary rhynio and not expect to get chased)

This is similar to bug repellant but it also benefits your flier too.

The ghillie suit makes you not have to worry about 2 major dangers of the rhynio:

Its massive aggro range

&

Prioritization of you over other creatures (similar to a Rex but way worse)

Obviously, if you and another creature are in its aggro range and you are closer to it, there's a chance it might attack you first, but overall if you're wearing a ghillie suit, you don't have to worry about flying high above the swamps anymore to evade the rhynios.

These things need a nerf. They killed my spino and me. It was only level 3 too. So dumb

I just love finding 3-4 in a cluster and being jumped by 8 of them with only 2 argies.

This thing killed all my flying mounts early game when i was looking for an argy. They are relatively rare and spawn in/around the redwoods. They are like thylas, dont fly too close to the redwoods or your flyers will be dead RIP. full story of how i lost my otter on otter tips i think
