Have 150%+ movement speed (the higher the better) and just tranq it will a crossbow and tranq arrows. Run away when it comes close to you and hit it again untill it's down. You shouldn't get hit. This can also apply to taming any creature. If you don't have enough movement speed to outrun it then use a mind-wipe Rockwell. Simples =)

Once you have the Rex knocked out you are better to just start the timer and leave it because nothing aggros to a Rex so nothing will attack it other than other players. I usually knock it out and go back to base make the kibble etc or do whatever you need to do for two hours then go back narcotic it up and repeat until the starve timer is ready and it is ready to feed (: same goes for a giga! Enjoy!

Headshots dont count so just try for body shots.

For solo tame, make a trap boat that is two walls high and a second boat with a tower. Lure it in on foot if you have beds on the tower raft. Lure by bird is easier. Knock it out, move it away from shore and safely tame.

Bring extra and be prepared tbh I just tamed a 150 Rex and even though it says on thing on here it's recommended but I spent more than 4 hours starving time for this Rex always be propared and efficient

Easiest way we found to knock it out is to use either your best crossbow with tranq arrows or longneck Rifle with tranq darts, having one of your tribe mates carry you on a Ptera or argy. The key here is to always be aiming in the same direction as the person on the bird when shooting, otherwise you may end up shooting the carrying bird with the tranq arrows or darts. This method allows you to get a better vantage and more head shots which are more effective in knocking the animal out.

Why are you all using traps I tame them all the time, I never have a problem, hit-and-run or High Ground baby!

How to tame in PvE:

1. Randomly come across a stego stuck in someone elses trap (AI must have wandered it in becoz owner of trap was offline)

2. Watch as moron Rex aggros onto trapped stego and falls into trap itself.

3. Be lucky enough to have tranq darts, narcotics, an empty cryopod on hand and an Ovis grazing nearby.

4. Knockout moron Rex.

5. Murder peaceful Ovis.

6. Stuff moron Rex full of the good stuff.

7. Wait for tame.

8. Cryo that beast and yeet yourself out of there before owner of trap returns to complain about how you owe him a free Rex.

How to tame.

Step 1-make a line of 16 to 20 giant bear traps where you want to tame your Rex.

Step 2-Agro a Rex and get it to step on the first bear trap.

Step 3-shoot with tranqs until knocked out(I suggest a longneck rifle and a lot of tranq darts).

Step 4 -put 20-30 prime meat into its inventory.

Step 5-enjoy your new Rex.

So i found i high level rex near a cliff i want a rex! But i want an allosaur more but all the high levels keep getting killed but when i keep hitting the rex it keeps ignoring me! I have an ascendant crossbow with tranqs prime meat an argentavis and a soothing balm and the rex went into the swamp and got killed by a paracer…… WHY DOES THE OVERSEER/GULA BEETLE HATE ME??!?!?! AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

A rexes seem scary as a beginner player but compared to other tamed are easy. I tamed a level 400 on foot as an example.

I encountered a level 15 one two days ago, tried taming and ended up killing it. Just found a level 14 female and want to tame it but don't wanna kill it. I have around 21 tranquilizer arrows, 60 stone arrows and I can make the 4 foundations and walls trap. I want to know when does it run away? I mean, how much can I hit it before it tries to flee? It has 1300 of life

My tip is to clear danger around before you tranq it

The Tek Rex uses the same kibble as the regular one does.

Kinda confused, so I was going to try and tame a lvl three Rex on scorched earth and I was like I should probably bring like a lot of tranq arrows. I hit the Rex three or four time and it was down btw I used crossbow
