ARK: Survival Evolved Companion

Tips & Strategies

Honestly really not that hard to knock out. Find one on a mountain, fly higher than it can go and land. Shoot it till it's down. If it's a low level it will only take about 20 tranq arrows. I knocked out a level 3 with 12.
More Rex Taming & KO Tips
Want to tame a boss killing machine? Well you came to the right person! So first let's prepare for the taming process:
PREPARATION:
-Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts or Shocking Tranq Darts(For faster knockouts)
-Crossbows, bows, or rifles
-Raw Meat, Prime Meat or Kibble (Or cooked fish meat if you prefer)
-Narcotics (40 torpor) or Biotoxin (80 torpor) (I would not recommend narcoberries as they only restore 7.5 points of torpor and cannot be constantly fed to carnivores like the Rex)
NOTE: Biotoxins and Narcotics are not required for lower level rexes (Like those found in Easy mode), however you may still bring them just in case!
Now that you're all packed up and ready, let's get taming!
KNOCKOUT:
Now, there are different methods of taming the rex. Here's some of them:
METHOD 1: Classic taming trap
This method is a classic. The trap is pretty simple, but do note that there are other traps you may use not included! The trap of choice in this tip is picked because it is one of the most versatile and common traps!
THE TRAP:
4-9x Stone Foundations, 16-24 Stone Doorframes (Depends of size of trap you're using) and some Wooden Ramps (Depending on height of trap's walls)
Using this trap, get the Rex to aggro on you and lure it into the trap. You may use a flyer (RGs, PTs etc.) or do it on foot (It is possible to outrun the Rex with a certain amount of points put into Movement Speed!). Now that you have the Rex trapped, whip out your knockout weapon of choice and knock the Rex out. Now, shove some raw meat or prime meat and narcotics/ biotoxin down its throat and voila! You have your very own Rex!
METHOD 2: The Cheap and Lazy Method
This method is super simple, and is the method I usually perform. Just so you know, the best location to perform this method is near the Mountains (I play on ARK Mobile), where there are lots of rocks and bumpy terrain. After you have found a Rex preferably in the Mountains, get on a cliff or high area where the Rex is unable to hit you and start firing away. Once it starts running away, chase it down (It gets stuck in the rocks sometimes when you're on bumpy or rocky terrain like the Mountains) and knock the Rex out. Shove some Raw Meat or Prime Meat and narcotics/Biotoxin down its throat while you go out to get prime meat (I get them from RGs in the mountains or Theris elsewhere). Make sure to keep an eye on its torpor and not neglect the Rex for too long or it will wake up! After a bit of time and patience, you will obtain your very first Rex! Clap yourself on the back and enjoy your new battle beast.
Now, onto the features of the Rex:
The Rexes are great and iconic tames of ARK. Most dinos do not aggro on them (Emphasis on MOST), but what you mostly want to avoid are gigas (Unless you have a super beefy and strong Rex). They are great for battle and bosses (Especially the Alpha Megatherium if you're on The Island.). They are also good for harvesting Raw Meat, Raw Prime Meat and more. The Rexes have great HP, decent attack and decent stamina, unlike the Spinos which are more of glass cannons (They have great Attack but pale in health in comparison to the Rex). In my opinion, I prefer Rexes over Spinos (Sorry Spino lovers) but you can tame a Spino if you want (Or both ;) ) They also have a roar that not only sounds intimidating, but also functionable, stunning smaller creatures and making others defecate (More of a comedic aspect). All in all, Rexes are tanks/ attackers which are a must have in your entirety of your playthrough in Ark.
I think that about sums up my guide on getting your very first Rex. Thank you for taking your time to read this and happy taming! Do give me some feedback for any inaccuracies, thank you!
-Your average ARK Mobile player
after you have it down and knocked out. get away from it. because nothing will attack it. it's more likely going to try and attack you, and maybe hit it.
sarry about any mistakes in this message I have a small mental disability that makes it much harder for me to read and write
I recommend using a scorpion to tame it, pump all levels into health on the scorpion. Then just attack the Rex but with 10 to 20 seconds in between hits, DO NOT pump anything into dm. Also this is what I use to tame literally everything, and it doesn’t even cost anything. Pls put this up in chat for everyone to go “oh that’s not a bad idea” 👌😄👍
If you use the bear trap strategy which is if you lead it into a Dino gateway that is shaped in a triangle and with a bear trap in the middle (Large Beartrap) and when it is stuck you must put a dinogate behind it to trap it and then knock out.
I tamed two while level 29 it's eazy because they are idiots
Bring a friend on a Gallimimus, don't be too afraid, gallies are fast, then have your partner (s) on the back (and/or front) and shoot the thing like it killed your family
Giga: has a weak jaws with teeth, which can only make the prey bleed.
WildCard: Crush stones!
Rex: crush the strongest bones of it's prey.
WildCard: nope
Wanna tame this dangerous nugget? Here’s how to! As with everything, you will need supplies, I recommend tranq darts, but arrows work just fine as well! Pack at least 100 tranq arrows, or 50 tranq darts as well as a extra tranqing weapon, pack at least 50/80 narcotics, anything between there should be good for a decent leveled rex, max levels should take 140 narcs or toxin, toxin is more affective but might be hard to come by! Now the taming food, very clearly this is a meat eating dinosaur, the best meat for it will be prime or mutton, exceptional kibble works great too! :D Next, Use a flying mount ( if you have one! ) and fly arround! They spawn on almost every map, and are pretty easy to find if your looking in the right place, they like almost every environment I can name a few maps as well as they’re common spawn points! Valguero, they spawn near beaver lake, look up at the green obelisk and to your left should be a moderately dense forest, there should also be a hill with crystals, below this hill is a common spawn point for both Rex’s and Tek Rex! The island, the spawn point for the islands rex is kinda simple, they like the arctic, as well as mountains, anywhere arround there should be some! Lost island, they also like the arctic! Anyway I’ll stop rambling on about maps and get to the point! Ok so theres a simple way to tame these beasts! Since The Tyrannosaurus rex wasn’t capable of running, it was limited to just brisk walking, meaning they aren’t very fast, although being chased might seem like a diffrent story, all you need to be able to outrun one is just 3 points in speed I’m pretty sure! The reason you need to be able to out run one, to tame one is because u don’t need a trap if the Dino you are trying to tame is slow, you just have to be smart, however it’s completely up to you, There are quite a few ways to tame this, I can name a few, Trapping, this is a aggravating task if the Rex doesn’t want to enter the trap, if you are a low level, a trap would be recommended, a Rex trap should be stoned dinosaur gates and gateways, It would also be recommended to have 1/2 large beartraps so it doesn’t get out the trap should look like a like a square with one missing side facing the Rex, this is where the Rex will enter the trap place bear traps near the side opposite of the missing side, this is because when the Rex follows you to the trap, you guide it until u have it almost perfectly aligned to the missing side of the trap, then run arround the trap to the opposite side of the missing gateway, once the Rex gets stuck on the bear trap you quickly run behind the Rex to the missing gate way and very carefully but swiftly place the gate and gateway down! Then tranq it, it will not break out of this trap I don’t think! 2 the open playfield! This is a easy knockout if you have armor and moderately quick, it’s a pretty simple technique, you just have to be smarter than the creature! This involves you running arround with a ranged tranqing weapon with a Rex following you, it’s just Run then shoot, and repeat until it starts running then you chase it and shoot! And 3 easy knockout! Just lead it into a lot of tough terrain so it can’t get to you but you can still tranq it >:D The Higher level the Rex the better! Now the taming, there torpor goes down very slow compared to the other Apex predators of the ark, the best taming food for rex would be kibble, mutton, or prime! They take about 10 to 20 minutes to tame if ur feeling anxious feel free to stuff it with narcs and put spikes arround it and go do something else! You tamed yourself a Well known apex predator! What’s it good for? Well they are amazing tames, and one of best apex predator for boss battles! Amazing for they’re damage per bite, and health! They can also roar stunning small creatures stiff, while the medium sized dinos run for they’re life’s, it can also stun enemy players in pvp or pvx, they can carry a decent amount of weight, and can… somehow “run?” That’s quite a feat for a Rex but once tamed they can sprint! Gather a few of these to breed bring a yuty or two on the team and you got yourself a boss slaying team! >:D thanks for the support, Happy taming! And take care!
Honestly, these are really easy to tame.
Get 100 tranqs, 60-80 narcs, (i reccomend 80 just to be safe) And 100+ fish meat.
Get 1 stone base, 2 tall stone walls (or metal), and 6 stone ceilings (To have space to land a flyer).
Make sure the walls are on only 1 side, so it should be 8 single walls tall. Or you can use a Tapejara.
Pick a flyer with a decent amount of health, just incase something goes wrong. I recommend a high-level Argie.
Build it by a Rex, Land and shoot. Chase it when it starts running away.
After its knocked out, you can put you flyer on Neutral, so it can distract anything.
Rexes eat fish meat quicker, so use that. Monitor the Rex's Torpor levels, and feed it narcs.
Now you have a Rex! Now you can get another one so they can breed, and now you have a Rex army.
Get on the back of an argy and shoot it down. Then circle it (dont be near it as nothing will attack it, it will attack you and hurt it) , then wait for it to tame. I hope you found this helpful!
