Some say build a trap. I say cut costs and find a cliff.

To be honest, I tamed 2 Rex's and one of them was hard to get because it was under the snow

So if you wanna tip on taming a rex quicker without anything except a weapon?

Get it stuck or climb up high enough so it can't reach you

Then Tranq it (50-100+ arrows) then if you want to save time

I just used a bow,arrows(Tranqs),mate and a few narcotics.

1 grab A pterosaur 2 hit it 3 lead it into paddock 4 shoot with tranqs 5 give cooked prime meat X12

To tame a Rex follow these steps

1• have 5 stone gateways and first put four of them and leave some gap in btw , put a large bear trap in middle of the four gateways

2• mount on your flyer (I used argy) then go to the Rex and make him follow you to the trap. Then put the 5th gateway in the gap.

3• knock it out with tranq darts

4 put soothing balm 10x ( if playing on mobile) and some prime meat. And it will get tamed

Just build a trap of stone pillarrs, place a trap inside and lure it inside with a flyer. Then you can place a gateway behind it and you can knock it out easily.

The best way to tame them that I use is just to bait them into a trap or make them get stuck on rocks, you can also kite them to wild dinos because the rex will go after them instead of you

Carno island has some. If you go there, lead them to that giant rock (pp rock 1) then fly up on flyer. Shoot at it with tranq arrows and Rex

To tame A Rex get on the Rock so it can’t Get you

Taking down a 270 x rex on a 4x taming server took me 195 tranq darts with a longneck rifle + around 350 tranq arrows with a crossbow this is insane lol

Get a griffin and shoot tranq rex it’s easier that way

taming a rex isn’t easy…

from my experience, here is how to do it:

1) PREPARATION

assuming you found one, there is a bit of preparation to be done, you need at least 30 tranq arrows (give or take a few, due to levels).

- get a crossbow, if not get a bow, the important thing is that the weapon you chose is compatible with tranq arrows.

-next, for tameing, you will need to harvest bio toxin from mitocondrias (blue belly fish found in the sea). this will raise the torpor level if it is running low, and it will avoid losing the rex after having knocked it out.

-get a lot of meat (3 stacks should do the trick, but it really depends on the level), this will allow the tameing bar to fill up: as you have probably guessed, it is not vegetarian…

2) K.O (knock the rex out)

-get the ranged weapon you are using and put it in your hot bar, then open your inventory, and drag the tranq arrow to the same slot as the ranged weapon. This will select the tranq arrow as the ammo for that weapon. If you hold the weapon in your hand, it should say something along the lines of

(weapon name)(tranq arrows loaded/number of tranq arrows)(tranq arrows)

eg, if you had a crossbow with 30 tranq arrows, it would say

crossbow (0/30) tranq arrow, unless if the arrow is loaded.

To knock out the rex, you want to find a cliff near it, and get to the top (a flying mount may be helpful). Now, just wait until it is close enough to shoot accurately, then fire away with your tranq arrows. If it starts running away, hop down the cliff, and continue shooting it (only do this if it runs out of range!!). repeat until it gets knocked out.

3) TAMEING:

careful not to hit it again, get to the rex and open its inventory, then put all the meat and bio toxin in its inventory.

from this point on, patience is required…

If you notice that the torpor level is dangerously low, feed it the bio toxin, it will raise the torpor level by 80, but, oddly enough, won’t harm the rex in any way. If the remaining meat spoils, or you run out of it, you might want to harvest more before it wakes up. when it wakes up, if you managed to tame it, it will tell you in a prompt, otherwise, you didn’t manage, and you should run as fast as possible in the other direction.

NOTES:

-tranq arrows need the mortar and pestle to craft, since you need to create narcotic (narcoberrys + spoiled meat), then combine it with stone arrows.

-a primitive bow may break before you can fully K.O the rex, so bringing two or three might be a good idea

-avoid tameing it near water, because it is defenceless against sea creatures like mitochondria or rays.

-find a solo rex, unless you want to tame two at the same time, which would be considerably harder.

It sucks that if takes forever to level up and if you tams it early on like I am it’s useless until you get a saddle and if you find a cliff and shoot it with tranq arrows it works effectively hope this helps

Knock it out with tranq arrows and a bow stay above it like on a rock or smthn and shoot it (if u have god console use infinite ammo and spam with crossbow)and feed it prime meat and voila! (For users with god console:once koed level it up a couple times and feed it bio toxin and feed regular meat it should tame in about 1-2min if u repeat the process

I feel like you can tame a rex when you have like some tranq arrows and a bow just go up to a cliff and shoot it until its knocked out and feed it some prime meat or just normal meat boom you got yourself a huge lizard chicken

Okay, taming this thing was WAY easier than I expected! Get tranq arrows, get on mountain that it can’t climb up, shoot till it drops. Fill with prime meat and a few narcotics or bio toxin

I find them in the island’s redwood biome a lot, so if you have a tree platform and an argy, lure the Rex with the argy to your tree base, then land and tranq it from out of it’s reach. Then go down and stuff it with chosen food.
