taming a rex isn’t easy…

from my experience, here is how to do it:

1) PREPARATION

assuming you found one, there is a bit of preparation to be done, you need at least 30 tranq arrows (give or take a few, due to levels).

- get a crossbow, if not get a bow, the important thing is that the weapon you chose is compatible with tranq arrows.

-next, for tameing, you will need to harvest bio toxin from mitocondrias (blue belly fish found in the sea). this will raise the torpor level if it is running low, and it will avoid losing the rex after having knocked it out.

-get a lot of meat (3 stacks should do the trick, but it really depends on the level), this will allow the tameing bar to fill up: as you have probably guessed, it is not vegetarian…

2) K.O (knock the rex out)

-get the ranged weapon you are using and put it in your hot bar, then open your inventory, and drag the tranq arrow to the same slot as the ranged weapon. This will select the tranq arrow as the ammo for that weapon. If you hold the weapon in your hand, it should say something along the lines of

(weapon name)(tranq arrows loaded/number of tranq arrows)(tranq arrows)

eg, if you had a crossbow with 30 tranq arrows, it would say

crossbow (0/30) tranq arrow, unless if the arrow is loaded.

To knock out the rex, you want to find a cliff near it, and get to the top (a flying mount may be helpful). Now, just wait until it is close enough to shoot accurately, then fire away with your tranq arrows. If it starts running away, hop down the cliff, and continue shooting it (only do this if it runs out of range!!). repeat until it gets knocked out.

3) TAMEING:

careful not to hit it again, get to the rex and open its inventory, then put all the meat and bio toxin in its inventory.

from this point on, patience is required…

If you notice that the torpor level is dangerously low, feed it the bio toxin, it will raise the torpor level by 80, but, oddly enough, won’t harm the rex in any way. If the remaining meat spoils, or you run out of it, you might want to harvest more before it wakes up. when it wakes up, if you managed to tame it, it will tell you in a prompt, otherwise, you didn’t manage, and you should run as fast as possible in the other direction.

NOTES:

-tranq arrows need the mortar and pestle to craft, since you need to create narcotic (narcoberrys + spoiled meat), then combine it with stone arrows.

-a primitive bow may break before you can fully K.O the rex, so bringing two or three might be a good idea

-avoid tameing it near water, because it is defenceless against sea creatures like mitochondria or rays.

-find a solo rex, unless you want to tame two at the same time, which would be considerably harder.

The cheapest trap for rex are the traps of the other players around.

Just walk around the trap instead of trapping it the trap.

If it flees catch it up and shoot, it will turn around and get agro again and then do the walk around trap thing again.

I prefer tranq darts, with arrows u need a ton

Are allos or rexes better for bosses?

Don't waste your time for making traps I know it's work but it's a time waste U should find a High place U can easily find it with petradon and use taranq arrows and biotoxin to knock out him and biotoxin

It sucks that if takes forever to level up and if you tams it early on like I am it’s useless until you get a saddle and if you find a cliff and shoot it with tranq arrows it works effectively hope this helps

These guys are good. On its own, my level 25 Rex killed 7 stegos, 5 brontos, and 2 ankylos simultaneously, losing less than half of its health. I’d definitely recommend getting one.

Knock it out with tranq arrows and a bow stay above it like on a rock or smthn and shoot it (if u have god console use infinite ammo and spam with crossbow)and feed it prime meat and voila! (For users with god console:once koed level it up a couple times and feed it bio toxin and feed regular meat it should tame in about 1-2min if u repeat the process

Base speed can outrun a Rex, if you encounter early don’t panic, just run.

Share a tip about how to tame or knock out this creature

I use metal wall signs and a large bear trap

To tame one place down 4 stone foundations, 2 high stone doorframes around the foundations, then stairs on the side you want your rex to go up, use tranq arrows with a crossbow to knock it out, then use prime to tame it.

If you run out of Tranqs, DONT LOOK BACK!

Okay, taming this thing was WAY easier than I expected! Get tranq arrows, get on mountain that it can’t climb up, shoot till it drops. Fill with prime meat and a few narcotics or bio toxin

Torpor goes down average speed but narcs really don’t add much torpor, so don’t wait for torpor to get halfway down before you top it up, keep it as high as possible

I’ve found that they normally spawn in pairs. On a quest to obtain a breeding pair, I only found a pair of females near the green obelisk, and a pair of males near North Zone 3. Not sure if they always spawn like this, but don’t accidentally tame both thinking they are each a separate gender.

These guys are kinda hard to tame but this is for mobile players,you'll need a cross bow and a hell lot of tranq arrows,the higher the level the more arrows you need but this is also for low level players and try taming a low level rex as well,if you don't have enough stuff scope it from afar rexes aren't super fast like spinos,or use the terrain to knock it out,that's how I tamed my spino Aurora,otherwise use a trap,knock it out and feed it exceptional kibble or scorpion kibble on mobile,use a soothing bam for easier taming if this was helpful ^ pls:D

Step 1 get at least 10 parachutes a flyer on follow and tranqs

Step 2 jump off flyer from a tall height and parachute chute tranqs get back on flyer

Step 3 repeat

Take a friend because I brought one extra than the dodorext said and I missed twice but my bro had a slingshot that he accidentally made and got the rex out cold while shorting him 8 times
