I was getting really mad trying to tame a 80 quetzal, I am single player so no tribemates to help. I had my pteranodon with 18 wooden spikes and I had my argent following me so I could get some prime after it gets knocked out. I would find the quetzal, land everybody, grapple onto the pteranodon after putting in a tame group, whistle attack THIS target on the quetzal. I see the red arrow on it and my pteranodon doesn’t move an inch. I tried so many times getting so mad, when I realized my weight was being added to pteranodon inventory. WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME THAT HAPPENS!! I watched like 5 guide vids before none of them mentioned anything about weight. So I chuck all my gear into the argent except the grapple and longneck, try it again, and I’m so happy when my pteranodon finally goes flying through the air in pursuit of the quetzal. Barely knocked it out with 1 dart left and parachuted down to put up spike walls. Got on argent killed a theriz and prime tamed the quetzal up. I’m happy but that thing literally took me like halfway across the map. Lmao sorry so long but I spent like 40 minutes trying to figure out why my pteranodon wasn’t moving

I found the safest way to tame quetzal..

Need.

1) revival platform

2) a flyer with high melee damage

3)some ancient amber

Now..

1)make cage arround you revival platform by using stone foundation, stone door frame and stone ceilings..

2) find a quetzal and kill it with your flyer but don't hervest it ..

3) take the implant..

4)revive it in the revival platform..it got trapped and can't fly away

5) knock it with what ever you have ..

6) feed it and tame it.

Boom you have a quetzal without taking any risk ..

Quetzal is very essential to have, the best way to knock it out for begginers, is to mount on an argentavis and grab ur friend, let ur friend do the shooting ( pack urself with lots of arrows or trank darts if ur able to make them) and careful not to down it over the water. You can use tapejara, but to tame one is very hard so argies are ur way to go since their easier to tame.

Since the tapejara was added, this is the best dino to tame a quetzal with. Have a friend board the front seat and shoot the quetz. Tranq darts are best, but tranq arrows will do too. Once it's KO put spike walls around it and tame it!

The best way to knock out a quetz is with another quetz, which can hold many riders on its back with or without a platform saddle. If you don't own a quetz its best to pick someone up with an Argy or Ptera.

To knock it out solo, what to do is grappel into your bord, whistle for it to attack the quetzel, then whistle stop while you are near it and shoot it. Repeat the process and it should go down. With people, one person can pick you up with a pteranodon and fly to it. You can shoot at the quetzal while your buddy flys ahead of the quetz.

I used a titanoboa and an Archie. The snake needs to be on aggressive and a few levels into attack to increase the torpor damage. Hardest part of this method is getting the snake, have to use fertilized eggs and it can't get mad at you.

To tame a quetzal u need to have a quetzal. Dismount from the quetzal and whistle target to the quetzal while staying on its back. Tranq it and boom u got urself a quetzal

How to tame

1. Get rare flowers

2. Find a quetz

3.fly down from quetz and build some kind of trap that it will fit it

4. Go back up to quetz and eat rare flowers near it ( this will make it aggro on you as long as the rare flower debuff has not gone away)

5. Guide it to the trap and knock it out

6. Spend the next hour of your life waiting and feeding it narcs

7. GO OUTSIDE YOU FAT NECKBEARD

I have always wondered what would happen if you grappled onto the Quetzal itself and shoot tranqs up at it??? 🤷‍♂️ Might be easier than having to whistle your bird on and off 🤷‍♂️

Whatever you do and I repeat, NEVER JUMP ON ITS WING DURING KNOCKOUT!!! It will glitch you and automatically kill you 😡

I have recently found out that the grapple technique doesn’t work very well for mobile 🤷‍♂️ In order to pull it off, you have to have insane “finger speed” to whistle and shoot at the same time 😔 I have found that the easiest way to get one without raging (me) is to kill it and make a trap around an obelisk and revive it via ambers. Takes quite a few resources but it’s better than having to go through the process of trying to get one downed in the air. 😉
