On Mobile, randomly encountered a lvl 280 by Red Obelisk. Chased down on my Argy with my Pteranodon set to attack. Between the two of them, was able to bring it down, get implant, and revive WAY easier than trying KO from a Tapejara.

This thing is a gunship from COD. Two cannons and a rocket turret. All set!

My base is literally built on red obelisik but I haven't even encountered one :(

Putting it to sleep with Tapejaras is the easy part. The hardest part is to get it to land on safe grounds when it collapses. Almost anything can kill it if ur area is not good.

How I tamed a Quetzal is by using a Tapejara and while on the passenger seat set it to attack the Quetz and fire tranqs at it also, when its knocked out bring a parachute with you because you can't change to driver side while in passenger.

There are so many possibilities for what to do with the Quetz platform saddle. For example You could make a flying home which, if set up correctly, can fit a bed, a forge, a smithy, crop plots on the roof and a pen for one medium sized Dino.

You could make a bomber Quetz that would drop dodos with C4, or a gunship with Dilos and Velonasaurs, or even one giant pen to carry and airdrop Rexes.

Try to tame a low level one and save up for a platform saddle and make a quetzal trap then find another and damage it and ease it in for easy quetzals

Three methods:

RARE FLOWERS DON’T WORK

1. Ride in the passenger seat of a Tapejara and whistle attack target. If it’s too fast, whistle passive, then repeat until it’s knocked out.

2. Use dodo arrows to lead it into a trap, then tranq it until it’s out.

3. Use an argy and grapple to it. Like the Tapejara, whistle attack target, then passive if it gets too close.

Step 1: get on a flying Dino with a buddy

Step 2: find a quetzal

Step 3: knock it out

Step 4: watch it get mindlessly eaten alive by carnivores when it lands

Step 5: obtain severe depression

Step 6: find another quetzal

Step 7: repeat until your quetzal finally lands in a good spot (usually takes 2,000 tries)

The Quetzal can be good for carrying goods a long distance, what I do on my single player game is make a platform and bring doedicurus(reduce weight by 1/4) stone mining dinos and a few ankies(metal weight by 1/4)to store my metal ores onto and travel back to base with a large amount of resources, i bring a argy to carry my ankie but make trips to unload at my quetzal till he is full, I can pull x5 more resources this way than carrying an akie and flying with just my argy.

I highly recommend taking a equus before hand. If the quetz lands in water, you can use the lasso to drag it out.

Required: Tape/Griffin/Desmodus (best method: tape is low lvl/tamed at a low lvl), Rifle/Crossbow and Torpor ammo

Step 1. Find your Quetzal

Step 2. Start Tranqing. On a Tape, set it to attack the quetzal and shoot from the second seat on the saddle. On a server it may be easier to have a friend/tribe member tranq it for you while you chase it

Step 3. Secure the area around your Quetzal. This can be with spike fences, or getting another tame/good weapon to fight off other creatures

Step 4. Tame

Step 5. Enjoy your quetzal :)

For those on this section saying things along the lines of “why are people making this so difficult ‘kill, revive, tame’”, Revival Platforms are not available on computer without mods. They are a specifically mobile thing along side amber and soothing balm, as well as other things.

How to solo tame:

1. Use a sinomacrops to fly close to it

2. Shoot it with the harpoon gun using a net projectile

3. Shoot it in the head with shock tranqs

4. Give it the best food you have available

5. ???
