Me and my friends attempted to tame a Quetzel in the funniest way possible since we didn't have a Tapejara. We decided that one will ride a pternadon and will grab the other one. Then we will chase a Quetzel. The guy that is grabbed will shoot the Quetzel. I was the one driving and my ark crashed. My friend got dropped from the sky and by some miracle made it on 3 health. I re-joined as fast asi could and was laughing out loud. I think people can actually use this method somehow but better then us lol.

I know this is pretty common knowledge, but for the guys who always find the quetzal they're trying to tame in an area loaded with sabertooths, carnos, and rexes, all quetzals that are frightened will fly towards the coordinates 50, 50, every single time.

MAKE SURE TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE AREA THAT YOUR QUETZ IS FLYING DIRECTLY ABOVE BEFORE YOU KNOCK IT OUT! I had two quetzals drop into rivers near red ob and drown, and had another quetzal drop into the middle of the swamp, where it got killed by 2 sarcos and a kapro. Also, defend your quetz's body when it gets knocked out, since even dilos can attack this thing, meaning that it isn't safe from any aggressive carnivore (and also brontos cuz i once saw a rex fighting 2 brontos in my area and it caused my quetzal to be caught in the crossfire and lose 50 taming effectiveness)

Last point to bring up: if they spawn in any areas where rhynios can also spawn, and a rhynio goes after the quetzal, you can cross off taming that quetzal cause unless you can fly fast enough to make it prioritize you over the quetzal wild rhynios are faster than wild quetzals, and the quetzal will eventually die to resin attacks.

If you found one, don't blink while chasing. Don't. Blink.

In Mobile just kill it and craft a revival platform and build an enclosure then revive it and knock it out

You can use honey to lure the quetzal to the ground and into a trap.

Drop honey in front of the Quetz and in a direction that suits you. Keep dropping honey and the quetz will follow all the way to the ground. Once on the ground place Dino gates froward and aft of its wings. Tame away. Good luck

USES OF THE QUETZ

USE 1-So Quetzals have this weight reduction on anything its like a bigger Tapejara that cant hang on walls.

USE 2-Quetz have a high fortidude so if you got an good tier Platform Saddle and add some Metal structutres or TEK Structures on its back and the side of its neck, making it a tough cookie to crack on PVP which is very usefull.

USE 2-Quetzals also have a TEK Variant, i saw one in Centre it was lvl 150 so I tamed it and the TEK Quetzals stats are more better than the original one so basicly a normal quetz has low lvl HP like about 5k-10k HP or sometimes 15k HP but for TEK ones theyre about 10K-20K HP buffing their HP even further and making them tougher to kill when mixed with the Platform Saddle

USE 3-Quetzals are one of the most uncommon creatures in the game having them non-stop spawning in the Red Obelisk which also makes them easy to farm since theyre the easieast creatures to be farmed in the whole game,so if you want to tame a Mosa or Giga just find a wild female and KO it or wait for it to poop out an egg from the sky

USE 4-Quetzals are also used on Taming a Titanosaur (Besides Mechs or Rocket Launchers.)

I dared follow it and waited for it to come down and rest. Unfortunately, quetzals seem to fly forever. So guys, whoever is thinking of doing the same thing, don't. You'll just waste your time.

They do spawn on extinction. But they also spawn at the same spot as corrupted wyverns so it’s not recommended to tame

Plataform saddle can be mobile farming station, with ankys, forjes and wood. Can Also bê used tô trap other quetzals or flying creatures. Can bê used as flying army jet, with tons of ammo and weapons. Or simply a high spot for your tô shoot on whatever is down there. Can bê a mobile bed/respawn point for your. Just, please, dont waste your plataform saddle in a mobile Greenhouse. Please dont.

WARNING you can NOT stand on the wing

For 'The Center' map the common spawn locations tend to be near any obelisk, as well as around 55,45 or cruising around the entirety of Jungle South. It's worth checking around lava island too.

So... I figured out the exact spots for the spawns 👍 The primary spot is just behind the red obelisk on the thin little strip of land near the southern island. (I almost always see one spawn there) I also find them frequently spawning around the “back spike” of the red obelisk. You will almost always find a quetz around these two places. (At least on mobile) If you want a high level, just kill the one that spawns at these two places and a new one will always respawn back at those two places. This technique worked for me.

Rare flowers, egg aggros, etc. don’t work anymore, they never aggro while they are wild, they only flee and they are pretty damn quick, but once you tame them, they are literal flying snails

SOLO TAME

Bring:

-5 honey

-4 dinosaur gates

-bird

How:

Put the honey in your hotbar (unstack them, so 1 in each slot)

Fly over him en throw the first honey on it’s body (press the hotkey from the honey and it will throw the honey) It will follow the honey that’s falling. Dino’s on the ground will eat the honey too so keep dropping honey until the quetzal is on the ground eating honey.

Place some dinosaur gates on top of him to get him stuck. Shoot it with tranq arrows and feed some prime meat
