Tips & Strategies

What are tips for quetzal? Tips and strategies for quetzal in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Use a tape jars and a tribe mate use a net after attacking it into a safe area go down and trank it in the head then feed exceptional kibble congratulations you have a flying fortress
On the implant thing on the west of sanctuary on extinction is supposed to be a good spot
If on mobile I recommend use a griffin because you can use weapons on its back if you can't take a griffin use a tapjara it's saddle has a backseat you can use weapons just make sure you keep it on follow so it doesn't land and whistle it to attack the Quetzal if the tapjara gets to close for comfort to the Quetzal whistle passive then continue until it's out cold
Using raw meat and raw prime meat but they're hard to find
Net Gun with at least 20-30 nets. Head shots with high damage% dart gun. Bring Narcotics, Metal spikes, and a lawn chair. This is gonna take a min.
How to tame a LOW LEVEL Quetzal:
1:Kill a quetzal
2:get it’s implant
3 revive them in a closed space
4 :knock it out
5: put food and narcotics or biotoxins
6: wait
7:wait more(feed it a narcotic or a biotoxin every minute)
8: you have a quetzal!
The easiest way to tame is to fly close to it with a Tapejara, shoot it down with an Apprentice or MasterCraft Longneck Rifle, and revive at the Red Obelisk after you build a trap. Stealing it's egg will not make it aggro I already tried
I just used a wyvern unmounted shot then unmounted again over and over took about 40 tranq darts with a master craft long neck with 179 damage but i missed half then just fed it prime meat took about 30 min
These things are a pain to tame, if you don’t get enough headshots on high leveled ones or don’t have a quick Tapejara or Argentavis then you can let that 135 quetz run away to sweet home Alabama. This is personal experience because I just tamed a 135 quetz, took me more than 20 tries using save states on mobile. Worth it tho, came as a level 202 with monsterous stats
I live by red obelisk and farm the spawn point and cannot find one how do you find them tell me plz I need one everyone says they are so good and I am desperate I have every thing Tapejara , Rex kibble ,taming boost, and tranq darts
The person who said they don’t spawn in the arctic and redwoods is incorrect. I have found these guys everywhere including those area’s. I was riding a air mount when these guys spawned and I was in the Arctic area. And I found 2 in the red forest and 1 with 2 titanasaurs
If you have a griffin or tapejara taming it isn't a problem its just a matter of finding one on mobile its one of the more rare creatures I would say near red, green and blue obelisk you will have the most chance of finding one.
This solo knock out strategy is better than the grapple hook ones. So, all you need is:
-A Tapejara with a saddle
-Crossbow or Gun with tranq arrows/darts
-And of course taming food
-Just in case, bring some parachutes
So, after locating your Quetz, board the front seat of the Tapejara (passenger) and whistle 'attack this target' on the Quetzal. If it's too far, whistle attack on other creatures until it's airborne. When it is, whistle "move here" in the air, so you can follow the Quetzal without harming it. While you chase it you can tranq it down with AIMING! And you can control your Tapejara easily. Boom.
*Make sure the Quetzal lands somewhere safe
-My first tip
-How to get a high level quetzal on ark mobile
1) First, go to red obelisk and find a quetzal. then if it's a low level, then attack it and let it fly away of render distance
Fly some distance from red obelisk
Then open settings and click tidy save option
It will spawn a new quetzal
Beware :( All creatures not tamed will despawn )
2) Use this trick to find a high level quetzal Then tame it with a tapejara, Use the passenger seat ( Make sure the tapejara is followin you) Then whistle attack target the quetzal then use crossbow or longneck to knock it down, then tame it...
Quick tip : (it will deaggro if it is not rendered)

If anyone says that the eggs are too sensitive, lemme tellyou this: you can hatch the egg at the blue obelisk on mobile with a rather rinse-and-repeat method once you have fur armor:
-Use three campfires during the day. Make sure the egg is leaning against them to provide adequate shielding against the harsh winter environment.
-Put the egg away at nighttime, as during this time it will be too cold for the campfires to have any effect. (This might be skippable with the use of a Dimetrodon, provided you have leveled it sufficiently for Melee damage, planning to do research on this).
-While the night is upon you, you have 3 options: A. Gather wood and thatch in equal amounts, using your Quetzal to defend you if things go sour, as well as to transport the materials. B. Build a bed at the Blue Obelisk, suicide and then use it to skip the night. And C. Transport the egg somewhere warmer for the night to avoid having to wait. (Option B is probably the most viable)
-Repeat when its daytime again. Follow these steps until your egg hatches. (Keep the egg in a storage closet or inventory such as that of your Quetzal at night to prevent it from despawning while you gather for wood)
Hopefully your little Quetzal will hatch using this method. Might be different on other platforms, but its this way on mobile, plus having to wait only 3 hours and a half whereas Ive heard on other platforms hatching a Quetzal takes 18, so you’re really better off here on mobile.
Hope it helps.
Easiest way for solo tame is with a Griffon.
I used a tapejara .set it on follow. Then it won't go down
I finally got a quetz from my tribemate but I went on vacation for 5 weeks and forgot to feed him. Rip
One of the easiest way to tame these guys on fjordur, is to bring a desmodus, and use tranq arrows or darts. You can also bring a harpoon launcher to net projectile it, so it gets knocked off the sky (yes, you can shoot while sitting on a desmodus) hope this helps!
Not sure why there are so many tips on taming these things. It's harder to find them, then tame them. Simply tranq from a Rhyniognatha and follow them down, once they fall. Problem is they don't render unless you're right up on them.
