Honestly I think the combat capabilities of the Pteranodon is underrated. On mobile these guys actually makes a double hit every time they attack, so even though their base damage is 15 (a bit lower than an Argy’s 18), they have much better DPS than argys. They are also much more nimble than argys. I’ve been to dead island many times before on my pteranodon (lvl 240) and have never been pulled off by a raptor, cuz whenever I see one of them is about to pounce I just press forward and I’m 50 yards outside of the raptor’s attack range. When I went there with my argy (also lvl 240) for the first time I immediately got yeeted off cuz the argy is too slow to get out of the way. I survived (barely) thanks to my full set ascendent flak or chitin armour. The pteranodon’s barrel roll attack is also very strong, cuz you do like 3 times the base damage to anything in your path and you speed up drastically so you can get out of the attack range of the baddies you’re fighting in a split second. I tamed the argy thinking it was gonna replace my pteranodon, now my argy’s only use is as a cargo plane.

The pteranodon is a good flyer until you can get your hands on a better flyer.

I once killed a spino with a pte. I’m serious.

When i got the pte, i leveled his speed and stamina. One night while exploring i saw a spino in the river, hunting fish. Just for fun, i dove at it and attacked. Then i realised if i did this repeatedly, i could knock out/kill the spino without too many problems. So i did, and baited it to a bronto bc i took a lot of trample damage. The bronto got it to flee, and my pte chased it down. Eventually we pinned it against a rock and finished it off. Sadly though, my poor friend fell to a carno a few days later. R.I.P Fire 🥺🦇🔥

Upgrade him on stamina and weight

THE BEST DINO FOR TRAVEL BC IT CAN FLY AND UR MOST LIKLY NOT GONNA DIE AND if u have good stamina FLY AROUND THE ENTIRETY OF THE MAP

If you are a beach bob and on a easy server TAME ONE AS SOON AS YOU CAN GET A BOLA because you can level it up with a lystro so when you get a saddle you will probably have the highest level pt on the game ( if your on single player).

If you spyglass and role it does not do more damage but attacks multiple times really fast.

When you have this dino the only important stat for this dino is just stamina and weight

Putting prime meat in the pterandsn dackpack it will save it if you have ether meat in front of it

Great starter tame for pvp, very nimble. If you are in air combat against a wyvern, griffin etc you can pick them off their mount and drop them. I’d say one of the best tames for pvp!

Look for a higher rated one of you are looking to ride otherwise you will take forever to get its weight up to anything even remotely usable. Once upgraded theyre pretty quick in the air.

So I am only a beginner so have only just learnt this. But you can use your flying mounts to help you build taller structures. Takes patience to get it where you want, but in the end it’s worth it

Must have on PvP worlds. Easy for picking of enemy players as you can get out of their reach quickly. Second to Karpo though. Great for PvE as well. Useful for flying to the volcano or other high peeks. Wouldn't recommend a low lvl survivor tame as the saddle is hard to make. (Chitin/Keratin)

Always keep spoiled meat because then there is a 50% less chance of a seagull stealing your pteranodons food or anything else you put in your pteranodon i guess

There is a glitch where they randomly walk foward when dismounted.

Idk how I did it but on mobile I always couldn't do the barrel roll..... Until I leveled my pteranodons speed up to 200 ( in mobile you can upgrade movement speed) and then I could do the barrel roll.... Idk if this is how you get the barrel roll move also if you want to use it go to settings go to controls then click one of the little tabs and turn it to Secondary attack / reload and boom you can maybe use the move now

Mine killed a bunch of Spinos and Rexes, it even took on an Alpha Rex 😂 And we both survived, heck... My pteranodon is a mf beast but, it loves to put me in danger.
