What are tips for pteranodon? Tips and strategies for pteranodon in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
They are okay now just watch out for stam you are not invincible
Best way to tame these is to bola them then use about a tranq arrow or two to its head which should knock it out
I suggest to find a lvl 20 or higher for new players because you need high weight so it can carry you till you get an argy. Also if you can't craft bolas yet or you didn't learn the engram just shoot it in the head with a bow a crossbow will kill it be sure to use meat because this is a carnivore I lost a lvl 150 argy that way
Keep away from Titan boasts! I've lost way too many pets from them.
Bola when they are on the ground , tranq in the head. I always check the stats but mainly the health if I am looking for a good back up bird or 3. These are vital for PvP and it's best to have at least 2 back ups per player. KEEP them safe as they are your strongest weapons in PvP.
Especially for newer players. Make sure you keep an eye on the stamina bar. You don't want it to run out while airborn, because your pteranodon will be forced to slowly descend to whatever area is directly beneath it, trying to find a flat surface that's not water to land on. Your stamina also won't regenerate until you land, meaning if you try to attack or pick up nothing with your pteranodon you will gain torpidity, but you would have to constantly attack or try picking up nothing for your pteranodon to fall asleep. If you are flying directly above the ocean, your pteranodon will stop right before it hits the water, meaning you won't be dismounted and then the pteranodon will give you free movement to fly anywhere else (probably to land), albeit at a very slow speed because you have no stamina. For example, if you are forced to land in the swamp the both of you will either be fine or 100% dead depending on if there's any creatures nearby. If you land near dilos or raptors you will probably be fine because the pteranodon can attack on land using its beak, and its attack speed paired with its knockback can easily make you chain attacks infinitely until they die, or your pteranodon falls asleep.(this is unlikely to happen unless you attack over 200 times with no stamina) The ability of the pteranodon to attack on land using its beak is only available on mobile, plus all versions of the game except one (you should probably be able to guess which version and which mobile i'm talking about)
On ark ume (or literally ANY platform besides old ark mobile) pternadons can attack by pecking similar to a tapejara while walking on land, which is good because if your pteranodon run out of stamina and you are forced to land near dilos or raptors you can actually fight back instead of being helpless on old ark mobile
Just grab a sling shot and 10-20 rocks off the beach (or mine them) and bola the sucker and launch em at his head. For a lvl 250 this won’t work though, as it will escape the bola before your slingshot knocks it out. Also if you want to quickly get a saddle just go into the jungle and murder some bugs.
Hey hey!!! Rlly important but also quick tip!!!
When taming a ptero (OR any dinosaur in which the use of a club is recommended to tame it), please, PLEAAASE, instead of using a club, USE A SLINGSHOT!!!
- It deals more torpor and less damage
- You're more likely to kill the dino you're trying to tame when using the club with high melee damage
- It does not break easily
- You're less likely to hit your dino after they faint
I hope that helps!!!
After using bola, if using narcotic arrows to nock ptera unconscious. Add narco berries or more narcotics in inv with meat to keep it asleep the entire time.
Step one find on to your liking step two bola it step tree force feed it narcos by hitting r2 while in the Dino’s inv last step keep feeding it meat and your done
Always keep dodo kibble to tame it. If you want to know the stat you need to add to it, try to reach ≈550 stamina first, then increase its weight to 220. The rest until you reach ≈ 950 stamina, then focus on weight until up to 350. The rest is up to you. I prefer increasing its speed and melee. But good luck you guys!
How to tame: Spawn in get spawn killed by a raptor then spawn somewhere else and get your pick make a club and bola maybe maybe not use narcotics depending on lvl realize you’re lvl 16 get a explorer note kill everything in sight and do some crafting make the saddle and enjoy your pt.
Pteranodon is extremely time consuming Dinosaur to tame, I tame it once for about 15 min, but the dino is at level 325 so I guess it's a fair trade?
Here's how to tame pteranodon, first, bring a bed, any kind of bed. And then locate your Dream pteranodon. When you locate that ur pteranodon dream, Use bola to make it immobilize, then place your bed(You can do this earlier) and sleep. This will make the creature hungry and make the taming faster. After you wake up, immediately tranq this thing up, it is recommended to ready your 2nd bola justincase you're long enough just to make this things sleep.
Let's just say you're doing a good job, feed it some meat(Yes, this things is carnivore) and you'll have your first flying tame.
Note: You might want to place the bed and click that Zzz button first before sleeping, just in case, who knows if you immobilize them First and then sleep that annoying "Sunlight=No sleep" pop up will ruin your plan. I've learn it in the hard way...
We all know how to tame a ptera by now, bola and pop it in the head with either a club for low levels or tranq arrows for high ones; but the real tip here is to use chitin for the saddle instead of keratin. 75 keratin is difficult to find quickly, but chitin is available via just about any bugs or other invertibrates, and they tend to drop a lot of it. One trilobite could probably net you all of the chitin you need, especially when carved by something like a moschops.
How to tame one
1: Get 40 bio toxin (read my tip on how to harvest bio toxin on Cinidaria)
2: harvest 30 fish meat
3: get a bola and some tranq arrows (better to use tranq arrows)
4: bola and shoot (5 times should KO them)
5: give fish meat and bio toxin
6: give 2 bio toxin every time it’s torpor gets halfway
7: it’s tamed
