You can get it to spawn next to your base because of the following: It always respawns at it's last location, so if the heatwave ends while you are following it you will know where it is for the next heatwave. It also chases you when you eat flowers... hint hint
Found mine in the rocky mountains near red obelisk. I think that's the most common place. Dont try to chase it with a dragon, you'll waste your time. Wait until it despawns and build a trap. These tame are not practical but are flipping awesome! The fact that they are so rare makes it better in my opinion. Dont give up.
Find a phenix during a heatwave and follow it until it ends. The phenix will turn into ashes and land on the ground but will spawn right back at the same exact spot during the next heatwave. Build a trap 6 blocks high so I can't glitch out and you have yourself a trapped phenix to tame:)
Honestly I just hit it with a fire wyvern until it either drops or gets tamed, I mean it's a pain to tame but who doesn't want A Moltres? Trapping it gives me a headache and your character doesn't have to do jack so realistically a stam wyvern is the play. Do I like them? No. Does Silica, Cooked Meat, and Metal go brrrrrrrr? Yes. I'd rate this tame and tame method a solid 6/10 (Unique but really just and indiforge with a twist or some clout showing you have too much time to spend... I've had 3 at one point 😂) -Racc Ark Veteran
Fun fact! You can tame the Phoenix by hitting it with a torch so you don’t have to waste you’re time shooting it and missing and what not just wanted to help everyone out because this creature is definitely something worth getting
It's little kick attack can be used to mine any ore node effectively which is the best for metal seance it can smelt metals four at a time with no other resources, they also need sulfur to eat, can be healed with fire, and poop silica pearls.
