I accidentally killed a level 150 ovis by bola’ing it then impaling it with a spear. I wasn’t even aware of how rare this actually was and I thought about killing everything in sight because I was desperate for hide.

Don't let your Ovis give birth on ground they can glitch under map

There is an option to kill off a tamed ovis. If you equip a weapon or tool and you open the radial options for an ovis, you get option "slaughter" which kills the ovis instantly. I stumbled apon this wyle drowning them for there meat.

After taming, put ovis in a cryopod and store in cryofridge. Once it's stores a lot of levels, level up it's health only. Kill the ovis and harvest it with a chainsaw. Make sure you are within reach of some sort of storage coz you will get tonnes and tonnes of hide, pelt and mutton. It's has been known to completely lag out servers with the amount of things you can harvest this way...

The frist time I saw mine, I was on the edge of the redwood forest near a small stream. I picked it up with my Argent, so if you want to take it home and save it for breeding or tame meat that's the way too go.

You find them (most often) up in the north biome, at the blue obelisk. As of now, they need to be born on a ceiling (One tile above where you want them), so they will not fall into the water under the map or other unaccessible places, warning, with this method they will still fall through the ceiling, but they will fall onto the foundation underneath, allowing you to claim them there. Another warning, The baby ovis needs to be claimed immediately, or else it will die of starvation, it will also have abnormally low weight, so be sure to feed it very often.

Raw Lamb chops are better than kibble for most carnivores (7.5x multiplier). If you play on a server this is a great way to get rich quick. They also heal 100 health!

The baby ovis will eat berries after they are born.

Easy place to find in Fjordur is Jotunheim, go SouthEast. The cold there is killer but the best way to stay alive I've found is with full fur gear, an otter around your neck, Frio curry soup to keep help with the insulation and med brews as well as blood packs on your quick slots. I recommend at least bringing 20 or more med brews if you plan to stay alive longer than 2 min.. a HOT tek canteen will work wonders if you have one.

Ovis can be hard to tame, but are invaluable once tamed, so here’s a guide to help you out with taming one

1. Ovis are a passive tame, so you won’t need any tranqs

Ovis only eat veggie cakes to tame, so prepare those, on single player you only need 1, on official you might need more.

2. On the island, Ovis usually spawn in or around the redwoods but there are other places. Since it tames really quick I would just tame it where you find it, unless there are immediate threats, and that way you won’t need an argy which can carry them. Once you tame it, if you don’t have an argy you can cryo it to take it to safety. Once it is tamed it will eat berries

Sigh..... all those ragnorok players with their ovis’s. Why are so rare on the island?

Have a dire wolf as a sheep dog

on the island they rarely spawn and when they do they get eaten. they spawn all around the snowy region and redwoods, not so safe places.

They are found a lot around the snowy mountain. Don't listen to the map, they are more common where it says 'very rare.'

Before you tame it you can shear it which means you don't have to keep it to keep the wool. Also tame it with a sweet cake but then use berries to feed.
