Island swamp cave in red woods got them spawn mostly. Kill big fish with crossbow and feed it from swimming below it as the fish size will keep coming in between when feeding the otter.

The easiest way to tame this guy since they spawn in often tricky areas, build a small pen near your base (fence founds and wooden fences will do fine just stack the fences to atleast 2 up) go to your local otter spawn and wait till they're on the surface then grab them with a flyer and transport them back to the little cage this will ensure you don't have to swim about in dangerous waters trying to tame them, hope this helped :)

Use the otter against Coel fish and it harvests black/silica pearls more frequent

You can tame a bunch of these in the ponds in the redwoods, they are very easy to tame just swim to the bottom of the pound and feed them fish

I personally use an itchyornis to get the fish and upgrade it so the process of taking an otter is quicker.

If u go hunting with you’re otter and they kill it sometimes they can give u black pears and white pears!

U can track them like any other dino u r taming so u don’t loose them whilst u are mid tame

These are awesome shoulder pets, as mentioned, they keep you warm and the weight of anything in its inventory is halved but they also make great bodyguards, I put a little into weight and health the rest into melee, not only will it increase it's insulation buff but if set to attack target, will bite anything that is aggressive and gets too close, Ollie has saved my ass a few times now.

Also, to tame one I would suggest using a flying mount to pick it up and drop it in a 1x1 with a 1 door for access and bring an Ichthyornis for collecting the fish, set the ichthy to agressive and follow, stand next to the door and wait for the fish to be delivered to feed the otter.

If you want to keep it alive as long as possible, equip it with a ghillie mask as it will get the camouflage buff as well, this will help it stay hidden if accidentally dropped.

Idk y but no one has written about how to use them to get black and silica pearls.

So to get pearls u have to keep them on aggressive and on follow and let them attack fish like phirana etc but sometimes it doesnt work with normal fish called coelaths. And to get pearls u have to let them kill the fish by which i mean u have to let them last hit them and by then they will have pearl (1 or 2 of white and black or either one of em) in there inventory.

So I prefer goin for phirana and sabertooth cause they r agrressive and chase u till the shore so use that chabce to kill a lot of fish by otters. I hope i helped many which were having confusion like i did.

On mobile you can NOT carry an artifact with the Otter. It would be nice to see this change so that mobile has the same benefit as PC and Conceal when it comes to creature benefits.

They are not that difficult to find, you may always find couple of these cupcakes in shallow water near RedWood. Just pick up one with your Arge and take it to safe area where you may passive tame it.

Otters are a great company for you if you love dinos the you can put on your shoulder

In this version, you must consider 2 things:

Fish corpse and (prime) fish meat

(ptera,argy for grab)

Grab fish(don't know the correlation of the fish size and taming effectiveness but) and feed otter fish meat

Be prepare at least 10 fish meat for effectiveness decrease

Tame an otter find a river with no meat eating fish yeet the otter and you got black pearls

They can carry more than one of the same artifact on it :) very nice. Adorable when unconscious.

Otters can get pearls from fish and a lot of people know that but they can also hold more than one artifact a unique ability for a dino that it can only do and the player cant hit up so more people see this tip

Use an Itchy to kill and give you a golden sabertooth salmon. Dramatically decreases the time to tame this creature. Good luck!

If ur having the problem where they starve and self delete quick, try raw fish meat, for some reason they don’t like normal meat.
