What are tips for mosasaurus? Tips and strategies for mosasaurus in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
alpha mosa is more common than regular mosa lol
When I found a low level 4 more spawned with 1 being alpha and it was level 100 with 164,375 hp and I was on the easy preset
These fat sea gigas need a tlc, the looks are good but it has such bad mobility it can barely turn and it doesn’t have any buffs or resistance to anything, I would like to see in a tlc, fresh looks, better mobility especially that Turning, and some more damage to make if feel like the king of the sea like it should, and some dam resistances, like the basilos
Just avoid the deep sea it’s that simple
Hi,
I have actually killed a level 20 alpha mosa, starting the fight at mid-health, without having scuba gear and only with the help of an ichtyosaur.
So basically, some few facts you need to know about mosas in general is that they have a really wide turning circle, meaning it is very hard for them to do a 180° turn. Also, I think you all know this but they all stay in the depths, they can’t go any higher than a certain depth. Alpha mosas actually regenerate their health quite slowly.
It wasn’t actually that hard: I just needed to constantly hit it on its back with my ichtyosaur. When it will try to bite you, it will have to do a 180° turn, so it won’t be able to fight I back as long as you’re hitting it on its back. Whatever happens, try to stay away from its mouth: you can easily outrun it because ichtyosaurs are really fast so be careful because you might come too close from the mouth. It surprisingly doesn’t do as much health as I thought it would do, but don’t underestimate this fishy boi’s jaws power. If you do everything correctly, you should take all the 60k hp in around 10 mins.
If you’re not a high level player like me, playing in solo, and so you don’t have scuba equipment, don’t forget to breathe: it may seem obvious but drowning is actually the thing that dealt me the most damage, and I actually had to use backups around 3 times.
Also be careful of the night: it is actually hard to see where is it’s head and where is its tail during nighttime so don’t be dumb like me and don’t accidentally stumble on its jaws. By the way it’s freezing cold in the depths during the night so don’t die of hypothermia.
I was playing on mobile, so nothing actually attacks ichtyosaurs, so the only thing that will try to kill you is the alpha mosa.
The most important thing is to stay concentrated on both your oxygen bar and the position of its head.
Well, this is how I actually defeated my first alpha mosa, I hope this was useful ^^
Imagine like being the ultimate underwater apex predator and a weird looking fish riding a dolphin swims towards you and bites you for 10 minutes straight until you die
I easily kill them with my sarco and spino as you can out maneuver them. I can only seem to find low levels and some times with packs of anglers and pleassys. Watch out for an alpha mosa though
For every mosa there is a 17% chance for it to spawn as an alpha mosa which is tied with the tuso for the highest alpha spawn chance (note, in general all alpha creatures have a 5% chance to spawn instead of their normal variant, but this is from looking in-depth of spawns)
Another easy way is if it’s near the ocean floor, pop cactus broth and bug spray (the spray for your Dino too) and have four behemoth gateways and gates. Put the gateways around the main part of its body and pop the gates in. Usually its head will stick out a bit from one of the gates. Tranq it out and boom, free mosa. As long as the area around you is clear, you can even dismount to get the gates in the right position. Even without wearing any ghillie I was able to get pretty close without aggro. It also stops it from torpor running
If u find an alpha mosa u can kill it for black pearls
Prime Meat Gathering (In My world) tip (Ocean edition):
1. Get a mosa, and get its platform saddle.
2. Build a base with all useful things, including an industrial griller (If want cooked, please bring gasolines) or preserving bin (If want raw, please bring sparkpowders).
3. Pair it with a basilo/tuso and go to the deep sea.
4. Command your team to attack enemies tgat drops prime meat upon death, assist them by riding your mosa and attack, the higher the level, the stronger and tankier it is and better.
5. Gather your fallen enemies' corpses (Recommended using mosa)
6. If you want it cooked then turn on industrial griller (Tip: If you run out of gasoline you can collect oil from your basilo/tuso and refine them)
And If you want it raw then use preserving bin (Bring many sparkpowders)
7. Enjoy your prime meat :)
You're welcome. No need to like tip :)

How to get a high quality mosa saddle/mosa platform saddle on mobile:
Head into the yeti cave (tame one of the wolves in the cave to do this). In one of the big rooms there are multiple snow covered platforms. On one of the platforms is a red cave drop, and the loot of this drop includes mosa saddles and mosa platform saddles. I ran the cave ~100 times and I got 4 mosa platform saddles (1 journeyman 3 ascendent) and 2 mastercraft mosa saddles but I don’t even have a mosa lol.
Besides the giga this is the hardest dinosaur to tame, note you will need a lot of narcotics and food. Before you begin the tame I recommend at least 2 to 3 full scuba suits for obvious reasons. You need to have at least a Ichthyosaurs or Megalodon, so you can actually move around and find a decent one. Once you find one you want to tame simply start shooting at it with the crossbow. Now right when you get his attention swim up, you should notice the Mosasaurs stops following you after a certain height. The Mosasurs cannot go higher than wherever it stopped. So simply park your water Dino above it and keep shooting it. If it runs off keep doing the same thing over and over again. Sooner or later you will take him down. Good job! Then simply use this app to figure out how many narcotics/food you will need to tame it. Once it is done enjoy your king of the water.
All mosasaurs have a certain depth limit. If you find a mosasaur, lure it to a cliff side and let it get close, once it’s near you but not in bite range etc, start going up the cliff side until it loses agro. Once you find the sweet spot and the mosasaur loses agro, go down a bit to get in the depth limit range to re agro the mosasaur. It can’t attack you if you are just out of the depth limit range etc then start shooting it to knock it out. Just beware of other nasties 👌
Idk if spawns are broken or something but i find more alpha mosas than normal ones and that's annoying
Why do we work so hard grinding the quetzal kin and narco for this so called king of the deep when it can be killed by a small jelly fish but can kill most squids which can’t be killed by jellyfish????????????
An easier way is go on a itchy and find the nearest ammonite and hit it and them go slowly with the rage effect until you find one and yes i know a lot of sea creature will come so be carful when you do it (maybe you can find a squid like i did)
On mobile they can be found in deep water around carno island herb island and artic ocean then you pretty much need a water mount dolphins plesiosaur’s or megladons are recommended and you need sucba gear or else you will drown they have a shallow limit so tranq it and it will chase you untill shallow limit then it will not go shallower if it swims back down do the same thing agian keep doing this until it’s knocked out then prime fish works best but normal prime meat will work too and bring around 300 or 400 bio toxin or narcotics depending what level it is then wait a bit and done congrats
I was riding on my Sarco in the ocean coming back to my base from Herbivore Island and I decided to dive down to the bottom of the ocean quickly because I can. I almost got to the bottom when I saw a Mosasaurus swimming around and I freaked out and went right back to the surface of the ocean and swore not to go back down there ever again because I don’t wanna die.
