Amazing early level tame. It's a backpack, so you can fill it's inventory and pick it up and you'll only be carrying half the weight. They unlock doors if you can manage to throw it thru a windo on someone's house. They also collect berries on their own if you let them wander. Finally, they are the only Dino I have found that if you have a crowd wandering your base, will breed and survive all on its own without your help. Babies are born on wander, and since they collect berries while wandering you can come back to a base flooded with claimable monkey babies if you aren't careful lol

If your a beginner at the game you probably haven’t done the megaparrana mission to get some soothing balm once you get it or if you just craft soothing balm it will only take about two mejoberries to do the job.

About mesopithecus: mesopithecuses will throw poop at enemies. They will run away from you if your close. They are shoulder mounts I have always wanted, I have also seen many in multiplayer mode.

Anyways, don’t listen to what the other people say. You can crouch directly in front of them where they can see you and you’ll be fine taming them. Just continue to walk backwards whenever it moves toward you and keep about an arms length between you, otherwise your soon-to-be pet monkey will get scared and run away. Otherwise, it works just as fine as sneaking up from behind.

So I was walking on a weird rock hill mountain thing I see this little monkey guy as I’m taming it runs away although it didn’t see me and then I hear buzzing well any player would know loud buzzing is something you do not want hear in a survival game I turn around a ant with a stinger the size of my head going at me well let’s just say things didn’t turn out so well

Easy way to tame this guy :

Go to any cave, with scorpi, and tame one (whatever the level of the scorpio)

Once you can ride the scorpion, tamed within the cave, you can feed the little monkey, without he ever noticed you

Just, avoid to glitch it within the claws, because it would just disappear

I had one but he sacrificed himself for my house🥲 okay to first off I tamed him today. I was out doing the raptor pursuit but I died, teamed up by 3 raptors(lvl 30-50) and I only have hide armor so you would imagine I died quickly, so I tamed a theri for protect I was only level 20 and the theri was level 30 before tamed. We went out killed raptors finished the pursuit and then I thought “I’m already out here lemme check the daily pursuit see what it is “ “tame a meso (little monkey” and I was like that isn’t bad so me and my theri went out looking for one. Then we came came a orange male monkey it was adorable and it was level 120 and I was like definitely taking this one. Tamed it by giving it mejo berries and then took it home. After doing all that I did the raptor bait pursuit I had all the stuff but rockarrots so I went out to pick them. I saw an egg, a trike egg. I was like ima take it and then run for it so I did and I thought i could out run where the trike isnt loaded you know? So I went to my base and started making the kibble. Then TWO trikes came to my base a level 100 and a level 20 I took 400 health from the lvl 100 before the lvl 20 started knocking me back then I saw the lvl 20 trike fighting something I was like “MY MONKEY “ and then I got a notification “monkey lvl 153 killed trike lvl 100” “monkey was killed by trike. I was able to take out the lvl 20. I was upset and my theri was out wondering to collect berries and wood😭 I’m so sad

If you have him attack a door over and over again he can pick the lock and open it. Mostly works on wood doors. You will have to have him attack the door over and over again for it to work.

If u have a flyer (preferably a ptera) to pick up the monkey put your kibble or berries look behind u make sure u can reach it then it's an easy tame since it will not get spooked.

Great early game tame. Put narcotics tranqs and a good bow in it's inventory so you're ready for impromptu taming.

Ignore all the silly run away tactics for taming, Gillie suit crouched and follow from behind you'll be able to stand right behind it the whole tame.

However if it comes to a complete stop it will sometimes turn directions so be prepared to move with it and until your comfortable with it alittle space never hurts.

Jumping,falling,running, walking full speed around it risk it running away but crouched your speed is consistent you'll be fine.
