What are tips for megatherium? Tips and strategies for megatherium in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
To make honey last practically forever, make a fishing rod and equip honey, that is about to spoil, to the fishing rod, then un-equip it. It should refresh the spoil timer. Does not work with leech blood. Tested on PS4.

A subspecies of Megatherium (Megatherium Jeffersonii), was named after president Thomas Jefferson as he studied fossils in his spare time!
Run. Don’t have your gorillas attack it. Don’t shoot at it. Don’t make the same mistakes I did. Just run.
It's great at collecting berries, fiber and chitin from insects/bugs. He also doesn't collect charcoal from the burnt trees near the volcano in ragnarok anymore. Great for fighting broodmother and doing artifact runs on the island and caves that are filled with insects. Definitely worth taming
Can be picked up with quetz. Found them very quickly in the snow area. Also seems like it can gather just about anything. The buff they get for killing insects also seems to increase the damage it does on other creatures
Ah yes, the good ol bug eater. But can it eat bugs as much as we expect? Today I will test that out to fight the gamma, beta and alpha broodmothers! By the way the megatheriums aren’t mutated and are level 430-470
Gamma: Set them to aggresive for bug buff. Oh boy, soon they started SHREDDING the big spider. It died in about 1 minute and 30 seconds,
Beta: At about half hp she killed just one of them, but overall she died without any more casualties.
Alpha: Yknow the drill, aggresive. But she was pretty fast so the megatheriums got the bug buff early. But then she killed 3 at the SAME TIME. Things went pretty downhill from there. The megatheriums got her to 1/4th hp, but soon they were all mowed down.
So, what do i think? I think that megatheriums are really good for the broodmother! And keep in mind, these were UNMUTATED megatheriums.
I haven’t tried this myself but if you get a Megatherium and a Beelzebufo and set the Megatherium to aggressive on some bugs and set it to don’t harvest victims you can use the Beelzebufo to harvest them and get a lot of cementing paste you could just use the Beelzebufo but I think the combo is better
First tip please try it and let me know if it’s more effective than Beelzebufo itself
Finlay :)
If it has the red aura on it, don’t try to knock it out. Just wasted 50 tranqs when it had the aura, only took 12 without
Don't use a rhyniognatha.
Trust me on this one.
Megatherium is on Lost Island. Can confirm in redwoods
I saw two near the redwoods and I underestimated these mfs when I tried taming. They Tore me apart
Use honey to tame. Its easy to get, And its a alternative kibble. Highly recommend using honey
This giant sloth really hates bugs.
don’t shoot it when its glowing red, the tranq wont be affective. its best to tame it when its trapped and make sure there are no bugs nearby; bugs give the megatherium a buff (the red glow) which makes the megatherium resistant increases and get lower torpor and damage. hope this helps, goodluck with your tame!
In my opinion one of the best land mounts in the game, slow turn radius and sprint speed are its only cons, great base health and damage, amazing base carry weight and good stamina make this my taming mount, at 4K health it can tank a Spino while I tranq it still riding which just sold it for me. It can gather berries well enough and it’s bug killer buff makes it a force to be reckoned with around any area with bugs or scorpions
Go out of your way to tame this thing, a high level mega is my go to land mount now
