Tips & Strategies
When taming a high level megalosaurus, you need to put down right when night starts. It sounds counterproductive because it's stronger, but it allows for maximum starve time since you will need to put it down again the following night. If you don't do it this way, you may end up needing to put it down a third time, which could very likely be the death of it since it won't regain any health over that time.
Also, tame with a friend because the megalosaurus will pick you up into its jaws which makes it very hard to do solo without dying. Your tribe mate can attack the Dino and cause him to drop you.
Do NOT TRY TAMING JUST BEFORE DARK! I've tried taming one of these and when it turned night, it lost its torpidity all at once, woke up, and murdered my mount.
You should probably run if you step on them. Especially when you jump on the “rock”
During the day, they are very sluggish and attack slow. At night they are a frightening sight with much higher speed and attack. Beware when encountering them at night.
Pet it or draw a mustache on its face and then get the hell out of the cave
I play on mobile, And I will give advice for mobile players. Megalosaurus spawns in caves. He wakes up at 20:30 game time. You need to tame him after 20:30.Otherwise, he will wake up and all taming progress will be reset.
These guys can be introduced to you on The Island and Scorched Earth within caves. During day they sleep by night they are awake. They are much more of a threat if you encounter them on Aberration as they are awake all the time like any other dino. They are kind of like an allo with kapro’s grab. Megalos are primarily found within Aberration’s red and blue zones.
I had trouble figuring out if aberration made it that megalos woke up during taming or not. To clarify the do not.
Eats kibble at 135 instead of 80. Tame bar does stay if it wakes up, but it's possible to lose your kibble. Be careful.
Is anyone else having trouble taming these things on Lost Island? They won't eat raw meat or prime meat. Seems like they only eat mutton
1. Yes it will wake up every single night instantly at 20:30 server time
2.. It can be re-knocked out each time to continue taming, the progress WILL stay. This is what the devs made happen with their "fix", making it look like the waking up is a intentional part of the tame and a wanted feature for it by them.
3. When it wakes up everything in inventory gets deleted, you need to take food out before this happens.
4. 3 hour starve tame is the way to go pretty much, no narcotics needed as torpidity goes really slow, just keep knocking out.
Hope this helps <3
(Ark mobile) They can be found in the cave to the east of the volcano around loc 40, 46 ish. I just found one past the first set of bugs and snakes. All curled up.
Can be found in Carno island cave, south west lava cave, south east cave near Stonehenge, Central cave near volcano, and possibly others. They are very rare spawns but if checked regularly you can encounter them if looking to tame.
Lure in 3x3 stone trap with 2 high stone doorframes and knockout with boomerang make sure you don’t get close even if it’s in the trap it can still grab you and even if you get out of it’s jaws you fall in the cage you made with 2hp and die
don’t ask how I know
QUETZALS CAN PICK THESE DOODS UP BHT ONLY ONES THAT ARE AWAKE IT WONT SHOW UP ON DODODEX SO SPREAD THE WORD!!
I found mine sleeping in the jungle near vikings bay on the ragnarok map.
In ark mobile they don’t wake up at night while you are taming it up so noobs can see
They are better than both rexes and spinos they have about 300 health more than a spino and deal more damage than a Rex and can level up quite a bit faster than these two… they are also much smaller than the rexes and the spinos so they can fit trough smaller gaps. They are also significantly faster than a Rex but are hard to obtain but as soon as you have both a male and a female you can start mating. They also have a reasonable attack speed and can grab smaller dinos to stop them from attacking you. Their damage is even comparable to that of a spino on two legs but don’t attack as fast. If you can’t decide between spinos or rexes to build an army just use megalosaurus they are overall better, just you need to fight the bosses at night or the megalosaurus will be tired and sleep, letting the boss get the first hit
