If you enable smelting it drains a lot of food. But it eats stone if you put it in first slot in inventory and they collect a lot of it really A LOT.

Magmasaur gathers a lot of obsidian maybe even more than anky

When it grows,feed it stone instead of meat,because it’s more effective.

Heard a rumor about breeding in lava and I can conairn it's true breed a 145 female with an 80 male awaiting hatchling level

You actually have to turn on smelting for it to begin smelting metal, it should be in the radial menu

When a baby they eat sulfer so that will help if u have trouble feeding them
