Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a magmasaur? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a magmasaur.
In Fjordur use a desmodus,
Steps
1: wait till night.
2: go invisible.
3: go in the cave.
4: get an egg not near a magmasaur.
5: then fly out the cave.
Please Note: This tip isn't only Taming, it contains Utility too! I'm on my phone writing this, so sorry if the formatting is bad!
Taming/Raising
To get a Magmasaur, you have to steal one of their eggs, hatch it, and raise it yourself. To my knowledge, as babies they will only eat sulfur. However, as adults, they will take raw meat and can be force-fed to heal like a carnivore. I ran into the cave on Lost Island with nothing on several times and came out with 2 eggs. Please note: They can and will shoot fireballs at you. We haven't tried breeding them yet, but to my knowledge they can breed while in lava.
Utility
AMAZING. They can get metal, crystal, obsidian, and more really well, they can cook it on the go (Drawback: Rapidly drains hunger and disables sprinting,) they can fight, and they can cook meat in their inventory for you (Unsure if they need to be on smelting to do this.) They're also decently fast on the ground.
At full charge, their "Searing spit" (Hold RMB to charge) does high damage and a powerful burn effect. This ability requires metal ingots to use.
If you press space, they will do a taunt that enrages wild creatures. It might do more, but I don't remember. Sorry!
Extra
Originally thought they were all the same color, but I have been proven wrong! Me and a friend on a non-dedicated have 1 Magmasaur each, and I noticed his has blue tail tips while mine doesn't. This is everything I've found out about Magmasaurs so far, and it may not be everything.
Go in the cave at night with a invis desmo. Wait till they are not near an egg, then swoop down. Repeat for all eggs if necessary.
After reading through the tips in here and panicking a little bit, i have good news! I can confirm after the newest patch the magmasaurs can be raised with sulfur on ps4. Dont trust me? Well i just pulled an all nighter whilst i hatched and raised one.
You can feed the magmasaur ( that your raising ) sulfur so don’t waste your time by trying to find ambergris. Because I wasted my time trying to find ambergris
It eats/wants Ambergris for imprints!!!!
Easiest way to steal an egg is teleport East volcanic, locate the mission The Egg-Straction and enter the cave. Note parachutes can be used but wing suit is better. Once you are in the cave use parachutes or a wing suit to fly into one of the little ravines and land by an egg that there are no nearby magmasaurs. Then start a teleport and as you are about to teleport pick up the egg.
Anybody else find it weird how the babies eat ambergris?
I mean, it isn't even found in the volcano biome, how would they get it in the wild?!
This was actually decently challenging, I was around level 10-20 when I did this.
-Go to the southwest part of the Volcano region
-Follow the mechanical landmark/structure to the volcano
-Run for dear life past the carnos and X-Allos
-Run for dear life past all the onyc and bugs
-Go towards an egg that is unoccupied
-Get HLNA to teleport you out, grabbing the egg right as you head out
-You’re done!
-Get demolished by a pack of X-Raptors you spawn right next which leaves your corpse basically unreachable because HLNA is a dumb sonuva
Take a fjordhawk then take a useless desmodus to the magmasaur cave and then hop off and steal all the eggs
So after losses.. I've worked out the magmasaurs food drops at a rate of 15 (rounded up from around 13.7) per minute, 900 food per hour. Feed your mag 1 ambergris every half hour to keep a happy healthy lil magma blob
The babies will die if they walk on lit torches and fire.. (I learnt the hard way)
If you can transfer your Rock Drake to Genesis it is pretty easy to steal Magmasaur eggs with them. Just turn invisible look for the best egg to steal. Quickly dismount grab the egg get back on and haul your butt out of there.
When raising Magmasaurs, you can incubate their eggs with either standing torches, dimetrodons (level melee only, it increases the incubation effect), air conditioners or a combination of all of the above. It takes a LOT of heat.
They eat Ambergris which can easily be mined from the lunar biome with an Anky (for the best yield).
Higher level Magmasaurs are best to raise, they have better food value.
At the “Juvenile” stage when they can be on trough, you can put their food (Ambergris) into a trough which helps with raising multiple tames (or bring over a character that has Tek unlocked and use a Tek Trough to preserve the food). (I play Xbox official).
Low level Mags might not look like they are taking food from the trough if their food value is low. Watch them and see if they eat once the value reaches zero. Higher levels do better for some reason. This knowledge might save someone some sleep. :-)
Best way to get the eggs is with parachute and grappling hook, you grapple down pickup the egg and then grapple to up the walls.
Now that we can transfer in and out of the genesis servers I’ve been getting a bunch of eggs, and from experience the best tame to get eggs ISNT the bloodstalker is a rock drake. I know there kind of hard to get but there invisibility is the best we to get into the best and the wall climbing and gliding is the best way to get out of the volcano without and trouble
If you’re based in the Snow biome, it’ll take anywhere from 16-20 ac’s to incubate the egg. Hope that helps some of the boys out
It’s just a normal lizard that wants to be loved
Passive tame this reptile with hot magma and make sure that your crouching because if it sees you it will run for the hills. It just wants to be loved, LOVED!!!
Or steal it’s children your choice
In Ark Survival Evolved on the the Lost Island map you feed the Magmasaur Sulfur until it becomes an Adult. Sulfur can be found in the Volcano Biome, and lots can be found near the Scorched Earth Biome which is located at the bottom.
Using the rock drakes cloak ability allows you to get right on top of eggs without drawing aggro.
