ANNOYING. I am taming a level 20 and it is taking like 40 narcotics. BUT I like how these goofy boys look when on your shoulder. AND I'd rather spend narcotics to tame them and get prime from dodo meat rather than killing big junk to get prime. LIL JIMBOB THE SEAGULL.

In my opinion this is easily the best shoulder mount. It brings you fish that contain raw prime meat and sending it to attack a Dodo can get you raw prime meat. I have x1.5 harvest rate and got somewhere around 12 raw prime meat from one Dodo. An absolute must have

When running under one you should

1. Write your will

2. Decide if you want to be buried or burned

3. Kill yourself

I recommend getting these really early on. They aren't hard to tame once you get a bow and arrow, and try to bolas it if you can. Make sure to bring some narco berries and stuff some fish in him. He's really good to have in not only the early game but throughout the game. If you put him on 'Huntnand Retrieve' mode and whistle to attack a dodo or other small creature, he will drag it body over to you wrapped in a golden haze. Now when you harvest the body, it will give you prime meat. That's why I recommend using him everytime you grind prime meat. Arguably commiting genocide on dodos is better than killing a bronto for prime meat, yes they may be annoying in the wild, but I'd recommend grabbing one soon.

They should make it were if it steals enough fish meat it gets tamed

On official asa servers the pathing is so broken it can’t hit fish as of 11/03/23. This means no golden fish as of right now.

While taming, put everything into stacks of 1, that way any time it steals its a single item rather than a stack of 100 or something!

They can kill cinidaria's. Makes getting bio tonic a breeze. I learnt this by accidentally sicking mine on a jellyfish. Thought it was going to die then boom. One hit wonder.

hate these things. sure, theyre good for fish and stuff but theyre so ANNOYING cause one stole all my tranq arrows then i got mad and killed all the ones near me, and i cant even tame one cause they die the moment i hit them with a tranq arrow

You can find it around most bodies of water diving for fish. Use a bola because they are extremely hard to hit

When going to tame one, unequip everything except your armor and put it in a box or tame you leave at your base (far away), then put only food, water, a set of bola and your weapon in your hotbar. Thanks to the new kibble system, you can bring and use regular kibble. Split all trank darts, narcs, etc into singles in your inventory (your weapon won’t care if the ammo is in singles), but it makes it harder for it to steal and eat your stuff. Wait until one is on the ground. Bola it, trank it out with darts. Starve tame it in case it’s friends come calling. When it’s hungry, feed it the kibble. Done!

They are fast and are not fun as a noob starting off. The best way to deal with these guys is get yourself a nice shotgun and blow their brains out.

To avoid having your mission essential gear stolen by these guts while trying to tame, split a bunch of stacks of berries, flit, thatch, anything that’s worthless. Having 80 small stacks of nonsense and a handful of essentials makes it far more likely they take the things you don’t need.

Drop to prone when you hear it attack and it will miss you.
