Tips & Strategies

Net gun, tent, log out for 2 min. Tame the part poking out of tent. Easy Peasy Lemmon squeezy.
How to tame these good pups.
Step 1: get an argy or pt (or if you’re close to their spawn locations you don’t need)
Step 2: I’d recommend to get atleast 3 for the pack boost possibly mate boost.
Step 3: locate a pack
Step 4: stay away from alpha and pet the one you want to tame
Step 5: try to not make them mad or scared
Step 6: follow the one you picked around and pet until tamed
Step 7: repeat until you have enough pups
Thank you for reading I’m sorry if it didn’t work this is just how I tame them!<3
Wait!!!!!!!!! No hurt doggo only pet with guilly suit!!!!! Pet doggo
Build a 1x1 box with door frames and throw a hatch ceiling and 4 more regular walls up and throw it in, it's butt will hang down and you can crouch and pet it under it without spooking it. You CAN tame without alpha present but if it becomes spooked you have to leave your chunk and let it reset.
Use an araneo (if araneo never gets aggro by anything.) he won’t provoke the doggo while u pet
gud boi
Not sure how well this would work but I’m trying to give an actual use for this dino unlike other people who basically just say shoot it in the head for prime meat. Ok so here’s my idea, what if you made a organic polymer auto farm with penguins and hyeanodons with meatpack saddles? Basically you make a enclosed area and have a bunch of penguins breeding and a couple of hyeanodons with meatpack saddles on aggressive to kill the penguin’s off spring and yes sometimes they won’t harvest the body but they should get most of them especially if you make the enclosed area really small. The meatpack saddles will keep the organic polymer from spoiling according to online sources, the meatpack saddles increases the spoil timer of all consumables which organic polymer is. This is based off of Syntac’s element dust farm go check it out if you want a better idea of what I’m talking about. I’m gonna try it out myself.
Basically follow them around and when there parents aren't looking pet them
Man encountering a wild pack of these bad boys with no strap your screwed😂. Good luck out there stay strapped boys.
He’s a good doggo he likes to be pet when your in a ghilie suit
These absolute wankers are everywhere in the mountains and if you don’t have something larger than a parasaur it’ll target you and kill you
Fortunately if you are smart like me, you head to the nearest jutting rock and run around it, they have an insane leap so they’ll most likely overshoot and get punted down the mountains
Up this if you find it helpful
Hyenadons in a pack of 2 or less they will run away
3 hyenadons will attack if you’re wounded
A pack of 6 or more will attack no matter what and kill your level 200 raptor with 75% imprinting (found that out the hard way 😢)
When tamed they are killing machines in a pack and with a pet bonus
I used a combat argy to follow them around till they got stuck on something. Tamed a 145 and 150 both times they just walked in place while I sat there and hit E every 30 secs. Don't leave the argy to close or they will continue to try and flee even while stuck.
They can jump through stone windows. If you have any Windies in your taming pen, close them before you grab these guys.
So I've been trying to tame one all morning, and I've come across this knowledge. Any type of armour is sufficient, I use chitin bc It's what I keep on me at all times. Use a Ptera, grab the Alpha, and fly it far from the pack. Set it down in an area that's open and scarce of other dino's, and park far away. Run up near it, but crouch before getting too close. Always stay behind it's butt, and crouching. If it turns, turn with it, staying behind it. 6 or so pets should do the trick, I have dogs ranging from lvl 20 to 140. Go for the highest level you can find, and ALWAYS stay behind it. After tamed, fly out w it to your base with the Pt. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
If you're taming one on a server where you can't pick up wild dinos, make sure nothing is next to it because it will get scared and loose effectiveness
Always stay crouched while taming. And never get close enough to touch it. While following the Hyaenodon, if the Hyaenodon ever stops, its very likely it will turn and start to walk in a different direction; so be aware that it might walk in your direction. Then back straight up... over and over again... and eventually you’ll tame one. Hope this helps. :)
Do NOT wear a shoulder pet while taming. They can detect tames, and will run!
