Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a hesperornis? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a hesperornis.
Tried to tame him but I kept dropping the fish instead of feeding him. Between that and him pecking me I got angry, and decided he should taste my sword instead. Sorry dude.
Can't be picked up by anything while they are wild. They do aggro on you, and can walk through door frames, so you can kite them to a taming pen then use an itchy to bring those succulent salmon to you. Tamed a 140 last night in about 20 minutes.
For those who have problem feeding a hesperornis, due to the fact that the feed button, is the same as the drop. Do not press E, Instead hold E then Click Feed Fish.
A pure nightmare to tame;
You have to get thousands and thousands of fishes,
But you can't use anything to fish them (except another hesperonis...)
Because they will eat the fishes, before give you the meat;
So you need to go fishing, go walking to the trapped bird, and doing so like billions of times, and everything times, you'd waste like 5minutes, because it refuses to eat
Then, you have to travel hundreds miles, simply because you got all the fishes in the near location, to get like 30% of taming effectiveness...

You can drag them with the grappling hook while even mounting your flying tamed creature
I've tamed giga's rex's and more,yet this was the most frustrating thing i've ever tamed a level three took half an hour and twenty fish on 3x taming never again...never...

Could just be a coincidence but I had a MUCH easier time feeding this guy fish while he was swimming in the water than on land. It took a lot of back and forth but he wasn’t constantly pecking me in the face and the dead fish body wasn’t jumping in the way so that feed fish/release body wasn’t interchanging every time. I could barely approach these dudes on land because everything was working against me. I have two parasaur tames stationed parallel the water crossings with their turrets enabled so they can warn me if something nasty heads my way while I’m distracted underwater. Hopefully this helps others out!
I picked it up with a grappling hook, then jumped on my wyvern & flew it to a safer place to tame with lots of salmon. I also threw a tent over it to stop it from wandering off. Best way to tame. So much easier.
One of the worst things you need to tame for kibble, but this is how to do it:
1. Craft a wooden cage
2. Aggro it onto land
3. Place cage on top of it
4. Spend an hour killing fish and dragging them to it, feeding it through the bars carefully or you’ll open the cage and let it out.
5. You let it out, didn’t you? Pick the cage up and trap it again.
6. Watch out for that ichth- It stoke your fish... and half the stuff in your inventory. Kill it.
7. Cuss in frustration at every piranha on the Ark trying to eat you, then feed them to it too.
8. Finally finish taming the dumb bird - now just remember to keep feeding it fish forever.
Oh and watch out for Argentavis in the area, they like corpses and they don’t like you even if you’re carrying the corpse. They’ll steal your fish and then try to kill you.
Easiest and stupid just kill a fish trow it on land near it, it will go for it, bigger fish means he eat for longer, then just lock the bird in a closure or tent if the trick works (did not try it yet), if you want to make it easier trow window on the wall and it should be ok to feed.
Put it in a taming box these birds are an easy kill for predators
Apparently the taming for this bird is bugged in Ascended because I've been teying to tame a lvl 90 female for hours now. Can't drag the fish corpse to it. It won't let me feed it. I've even tried taming it with fish meat. Has not worked at all.
You can’t pick wild ones up with Creatures. Luckily these animals will attack you and chase you if you go right up to them.
I used this to a create a Box with 1 foundation, 3 walls and a door. Got the Hespornis to chase me into said box where I locked it inside. After that it was a simple case of getting my Icthyornis to hunt and retrieve fish for me then feeding it to the trapped Hespornis. It still took a long time. But at least i didn’t have to chase the Hespero or press Y to feed then drop the fish
Place a cage and punch it. Leave cage open and punch it go on the side that the cage is open and it will walk in and close it then place sign. You can then open it and feed it without it being able to leave. Saber & piranha is the best. Side note seemed the faster I would feed it the more it went up in taming. (Did not look at the size of the fish.
don’t tame this guys. It’s Ito worth the effort. Seriously. You’re literally better off taming a breeding pair of yutyrannus for kibble eggs than taming this moron. Unless you’re in a very hoisted server I really don’t recommend.
Terribly long to tame it ...terribly long
(Sorry for any grammatical errors but I’m using a translator to write this tip) the best way to tame a hesperornis is to:
- Look for one of the lowest possible level (in case you want to waste less time and less resources);
- Have the hesperornis follow you and send him into a trap made of wood or straw, formed by a foundation, 3 fances (and another one to close the cage) and a wooden ramp (to allow him to climb in);
- In case there are more hesperornis, with the same type of trap catch one of the opposite sex next to the other one already trapped (so as to have the mating bonus);
- With an ichtyornis take some fish, preferably large salmons but do not harvest the fish by the ichtyornis;
- Enter the trap with one fish and gently give it to the hesperornis (but be careful not to drop it because otherwise it will devour it and give you no taming percentage);
Repeat the steps with the ichthyornis and feed more fish to the hesperornis until it’s tame (and all this in a few minutes). I hope this tip can help someone and, in case it is useful
3.1x or more size salmons cannot be fed to hesperornises by yourself, due to the hitbox always targeting the corpse, you have to feed it by carrying it with a tame.
Most exhaustIng passive team ever!
Not even x9999 can insta tame it
