Chapter 2: The Light of Darkness

Petit ran and swung through the forest trees, next to a strange orange figure with a small light.

"I beat you, Spott," said Petit. Spott, who was a small lumigeco, grunted and jumped onto Petit's shoulder. On the way to their village in the high mountains of Ragnarok, they saw a tapejara hooked on a harpoon.

"Oh, can I help you?" said Petit. He grabbed his hunting knife and cut the ropes. The tapejara rose, spreading its wings. Petit stumbled and fell onto the snowy grass.

The tapejara bent down and let Petit climb onto its back. Spott didn't want to climb, but he had to, even though he screamed all the way. As soon as they arrived, Petit ran home, praying his father wasn't inside. He quietly entered his house and escaped to the armory. He placed the raw metal in the forge and began sharpening the sword of his father, the village chief.
