Tips & Strategies

What are tips for gigantoraptor? Tips and strategies for gigantoraptor in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
While taming it an alpha rex decided it would be funny to 'help'
If the baby refuses to do the taming minigame with you, try breaking some of the rocks/trees around the nest. I think whatever wildcard did to prevent trapping the parent extended to ANYTHING that could potentially stop the parent from reaching the nest. I tried multiple times to tame a baby and got no response, but as soon as I cleared the area for the parent, the taming game worked first try.
Fun fact! Unlike other babies, if you eliminate the parent, you still can't claim the baby. Learned the hard way 😅
Step 1, bring an egg or two just in case ( i brought rex eggs)
Step 2, find a nest with parent and baby.
Step3, place the egg with some distance from the nest, and wait for the parent to see the egg and start to pick it.
Step 4, make ur way to the nest and hide in it(there is an interaction button that says hide in nest.
Step 5, wait for the baby to start the minigame for taming the baby.
Step 6, the parent should come back to the nest shortly after starting the minigame, dont freak out, it wont attack you while you do the minigames with the baby, it will protect you and the baby from any intruder, ur tribemate can even stand there with u beside the nest, but any sudden movement from your mate will alert the parent and attack, during a conflict where the parent runs away too far will make the baby pause the minigame, therefor u should put up another egg close to the nest to make the parent return, then the minigame with the baby will resume.
Step 6, once the minigame is 100% u got urself a Gigantoraptor :) and no u cant tame the parent (i play official pve)
I’ve tried looking for a maximum distance on how far the parent can detect fertilized eggs, 80m worked but I’ll keep testing
That one tip where they say you don’t need insert eggs is not true! The eggs must be fertilized
Step one. Sneak into nest
Step two. Imprint on babys.
Step three. Run for your life with baby.
The dossier came out finally! Ok so I’m the wild they have nests and they protect their eggs to the death and will even except other creatures babies into their brood, (ASA will have baby Dino’s that spawn in the wild, so if the mother of the baby dies, the gigantoraptor will take care of it) you can’t tame adults, you have to (I don’t know if you gotta kill the mother, or just be careful, or distract her or what..) then you gotta earn the babies trust, and it will be yours (probably feed it…) once it’s an adult, it can use it’s call to attract orphan wild dinos and take care of them, (idk if this is going to be the only way to tame the wild babies or not.) also it and it’s young (the babies following it wild or her own) get an attack buff when near each other, I’m confused on how this is helpful because the babies are weak and will just die.. maybe she has to die first and they are invulnerable, 🤷🏻♂️ But that feature would probably be more helpful for base defense. Anyway that’s the gigantoraptor next creature vote is for aberration and the top ten are looking good so stay tuned.

THESE ARE ONLY ON ARK ASCENDED,
If you're on ark survival evolved- you can NOT find them.
Sorry.
Here is what u need to know about Gigantoraptor Feathers after expirementing/watching tons of other tutorials
-first of all, the feathers boost the stat which is the highest stat on the bird itself,ie: if the Gigantoraptor has more points in melee, it will give u a melee feather, if Oxygen, it will give u an Oxygen Feather, and so on
-if a Gigantoraptor has two stats with two equal point distribution, it's a 50/50 chance it will give u one of them indefinitely
,ie: the bird has 40 points in melee and also 40 points in health, it will give u one of those stats only, either a health feather or a melee feather
-here is a pro tip, if your Gigantoraptor has a mutation that makes one of the stats higher, it will not count the mutation points,ie: I had a bird with a health mutatation, 39|2|0, and the melee was 39|0|0, here is the catch, it still gave me a melee feather 😔, so again, mutation points doesn't count, only base points count
-another pro tip if u r ambitious, u can use the feathers to actually reduce unwanted stats, for example, reduce oxygen on a land dino in favor of breeding higher stamina or health stats, just give the feather to the parent with the lowest oxygen, get urself a baby with a low oxygen , and breed it again with a higher wanted stat
-and that's it, hope I helped everyone here understand Gigantoraptor feathers more clearly
-The parent will peck at a fertilized egg for about 30 seconds, typically enough time to perform one action with the baby. Higher levels will need multiple actions.
-When the baby wants to do an action, it’ll walk towards you in the nest and jump. You’ll be shown a list of actions, one of which the baby will start doing, and you have about 3 seconds to pick the correct one to mimic.
Don't use your Gigatoraptor to tame a new one... do the mini game again so you get taming effectiveness bonus levels!! I wish the people that put the tip would have stated you get no taming efficiency... :-(
Shares therizino spawns. Whilst nests are sometimes near the rivers' edges, they can also be found on grassy plains near green ob, and in the middle of the forest north of red ob.
If you already tamed a Gigantoraptor, you can skip the minigame taming mechanic for further wild ones by simply killing the wild parent, roaring, then clicking E on the wild baby whilst on your Gigantoraptor. Congratulations, you tamed your new baby Gigantoraptor in record time!
You can NOT imprint on orphaned gigantoraptor, I learned that the hard way😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
FYI this is NOT coming to Ark: Survival Evolved it will be coming to Ark: Survival ASCENDED. The last thing coming to Evolved is the Rhinio btw
You have to have a fertile egg drop the egg just in right spot so it doesn’t see you forever the next stage in taming. Now you can hide in the nest wait for the baby to walk into the nest after it sees you you can copy its movements repeat until tamed (not the egg part unless the mama finishes its egg meal)
You find gigantoraptors where therizinos spawn, they share the same spawn locations.
As of summer 2024, traps still work. However, from my testing, it seems you need to let the parent out and let it walk to its nest after every 3 or so interactions with the baby, and then retrap it.
