Tips & Strategies
That one tip where they say you don’t need insert eggs is not true! The eggs must be fertilized
I’ve learned that you DONT even need a fertilized egg. Just make sure the parent isn’t getting attacked by any Dino’s. All you need is full Ghillie suit, sneak up to the nest but make sure the parent don’t see you sit in the nest, and then you can start imprinting on the baby. Up for those who can’t make a lot of eggs like me!
You can actually find these on Extinction. You will locate them in the sanctuary in different locations. Sometimes you can find them in the entrances of the sanctuary to the waste land.
If the baby refuses to do the taming minigame with you, try breaking some of the rocks/trees around the nest. I think whatever wildcard did to prevent trapping the parent extended to ANYTHING that could potentially stop the parent from reaching the nest. I tried multiple times to tame a baby and got no response, but as soon as I cleared the area for the parent, the taming game worked first try.
If you already tamed a Gigantoraptor, you can skip the minigame taming mechanic for further wild ones by simply killing the wild parent, roaring, then clicking E on the wild baby whilst on your Gigantoraptor. Congratulations, you tamed your new baby Gigantoraptor in record time!
Step one. Sneak into nest
Step two. Imprint on babys.
Step three. Run for your life with baby.
Fun fact! Unlike other babies, if you eliminate the parent, you still can't claim the baby. Learned the hard way 😅
THESE ARE ONLY ON ARK ASCENDED,
If you're on ark survival evolved- you can NOT find them.
Sorry.
Step 1, bring an egg or two just in case ( i brought rex eggs)
Step 2, find a nest with parent and baby.
Step3, place the egg with some distance from the nest, and wait for the parent to see the egg and start to pick it.
Step 4, make ur way to the nest and hide in it(there is an interaction button that says hide in nest.
Step 5, wait for the baby to start the minigame for taming the baby.
Step 6, the parent should come back to the nest shortly after starting the minigame, dont freak out, it wont attack you while you do the minigames with the baby, it will protect you and the baby from any intruder, ur tribemate can even stand there with u beside the nest, but any sudden movement from your mate will alert the parent and attack, during a conflict where the parent runs away too far will make the baby pause the minigame, therefor u should put up another egg close to the nest to make the parent return, then the minigame with the baby will resume.
Step 6, once the minigame is 100% u got urself a Gigantoraptor :) and no u cant tame the parent (i play official pve)
The dossier came out finally! Ok so I’m the wild they have nests and they protect their eggs to the death and will even except other creatures babies into their brood, (ASA will have baby Dino’s that spawn in the wild, so if the mother of the baby dies, the gigantoraptor will take care of it) you can’t tame adults, you have to (I don’t know if you gotta kill the mother, or just be careful, or distract her or what..) then you gotta earn the babies trust, and it will be yours (probably feed it…) once it’s an adult, it can use it’s call to attract orphan wild dinos and take care of them, (idk if this is going to be the only way to tame the wild babies or not.) also it and it’s young (the babies following it wild or her own) get an attack buff when near each other, I’m confused on how this is helpful because the babies are weak and will just die.. maybe she has to die first and they are invulnerable, 🤷🏻♂️ But that feature would probably be more helpful for base defense. Anyway that’s the gigantoraptor next creature vote is for aberration and the top ten are looking good so stay tuned.

Surprisingly good berry gatherer. Similar to a Trike in effectiveness but much faster and more mobile. At least on ASA, they also gather rare flowers from normal bushes! Even a low level Giganto should get you 100+ rare flowers in only a few minutes, but make sure to empty its inventory of excess berries every so often and pump up that weight stat. I have a low level Giganto and he gets me enough rare flowers for my beehives so that I'll never need to raid beaver dams or go to the swamp for flowers again!
They also spawn on aberrant on ascended
Ive been able to remove saddle and re-equip it in order to drop out eggs. However, I tried this with a 404 fire aaa Carchie egg and a gorgeous color prospect Carchie egg and it wouldn't let me pull them out. I figured since they weren't in the saddle I might as well cryo it right? Nopeeeeee eggs were gone, no bags or anything even on the lower floors of my base. ~ MachaMisae
Shares therizino spawns. Whilst nests are sometimes near the rivers' edges, they can also be found on grassy plains near green ob, and in the middle of the forest north of red ob.
As of summer 2024, traps still work. However, from my testing, it seems you need to let the parent out and let it walk to its nest after every 3 or so interactions with the baby, and then retrap it.
There on Abb BTW I’m walking around and all I see is one big blue chicken
Good tame. Can no longer gate trap parents. Use fert eggs (rex or above preferred) to lure parent, or have a buddy run interference using a tame to block.
It can carry eggs in its inv regardless of level and cooks them down to 0% like an incubator. Each bird gives a feather based on its highest base stat that when fed to a female tame increases the subsequent baby's chance of inheriting that stat.
It also imprints babies to it in addition to your own and when nearby gives the baby's a 10% damage reduction.
FYI this is NOT coming to Ark: Survival Evolved it will be coming to Ark: Survival ASCENDED. The last thing coming to Evolved is the Rhinio btw
Okay. Find a nest. Usually around rivers and grass/jungle areas.
The baby will always be around the nest. If it's not, there's a number of bugs that can be the cause.
For this to work; The baby and the nest and the mom all have to be together in the same close vicinity.
Okay, the correct way to distract the mother is to throw out a fertilized egg close by.
Aggro will get you a few times but keep trying till you get it right.
Once you see the animation of her eating the fertilized egg, go to the nest. Hide in it.
The baby will now come to you after a few moments if not bugged and will literally get into a stance in front of you.
It will preform 1 of 3 moves. D pad, Left, Down, Right
All little mimic/dance moves that increase the babys taming with each successful one you do in time, mimicking it.
After mom gets done eating she immediately comes straight back to the nest.
My experience allowed me to just quickly run from her in time while her back was turned in that split second moment from hiding.... but definitely keep a flying creature close by in case of things going south.
The larger the fertilized egg, the longer she takes to eat it. Eggs that worked for me was Rexs, Carchs, Gigas, Brontos, Yutis, All the eggs of those creatures worked for me and it took her at least a good solid +45-60 seconds to eat them each. For max levels.
Good Luck Out There! I Hope This Helps!
This creature is crazy fun!!! Has a flutter ability exactly like the Terror Bird but the gliding is WAY more maneuverable. Jumps like a Reaper almost compared to size. Main attack uses its Beak, and other attack will use both its huge legs to separately stomp. Aloooooot of other crazy good features to this Oviraptorosaur, specifically to do with babies.
Tame it and find out for yourself 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻
My guide for Gigantoraptors
Getting max taming effectiveness on wild babies. For example, claiming a wild 150 and it will come out at level 225.
1. The easiest way is to breed a gigantoraptor and level it up with all 88 levels. Both taming effectiveness and number of levels for the gigantoraptor go into affecting the taming effevtiveness of taming wild babies. Hatched babies have a 100% taming effectiveness so the first half is complete, second is that you have to get all 88 levels.
2. If you can’t breed one then tame one and get max taming effectiveness and then all 88 levels. This will ensure that the babies get max taming effevtivenss.
Also you can skew the likelihood of the claimed wild baby’s stats. When claiming a wild baby, the stats will skew towards the highest stats of the giagsntorsptor. For example, say your gigantoraptor has a much higher melee stat than any other stat, then the claimed baby has a higher chance of the taming points in melee being the highest.
The bonded buff:
When an adopted game is fully bonded, when the gigantorsptor is in range, they will start to acquire a buff based on the number of kills the adopted Dino has. From 1-14 kills, the buff is called Alloparental pride or adopted Love, and from 15-25 (the max) it is alloparental fury or adopted rage. They are each indicated by a golden ring around the gigantiraptors neck for adopted love, and a red ring for adopted rage. The buff drops by 1 per every 30 seconds. Alloparental is what the gigantoraptor gets as it’s buff, where as the adopted ones are what the adopted creatures gets as a buff.
For each alloparental stack, the hihantoraptor gains 2% extra damage so it can max out at 50%, so a 100 melee gigantoraptor can do 150 melee at max buff. The gigantoraptor also gains a 1% experience bonus, maxing out at 25% extra experience. At alloparnetla fury it gains a 10% movement speed as well.
For the adopted Dino’s with the adopted buffs, the creature has 10% reduced incoming damage, so instead of taking 100 hp of damage, they’d take 90. This is doesn’t change with the number of stacks. And at adopted rage they also gain 5% extra damage, also not stackable.
If you plan on raising a boss fighting army, I’d recommend raising and bonding them with the gigantoraptor and bringing it to the boss fight alongside an yurt.
-also, there are other ways to stack the buff. If a baby becomes bonded, gigantoraptor gains 5 stacks (equivalent to 5 kills by the adopted Dino), when a bonded matures it gains 5 stacks, a bonded creature leveling up is 2 stacks, and if the bonded creature dies it equa15 stacks. This is inky for allopatental, so only for gigantoraptor.
Taming:
Taming is pretty easy. You can get a gigantoraptor early game. The way I’d recommend is craft yourself a full pair of ghillie and tame the lowest level breeding pair of brontos you can find. You need to leave the eggs on the ground for the gigantoraptor adult to eat. It takes them a longer time to eat the egg depending on the quality of the egg, which directly correlates to the kibble tiers for eggs, meaning brontos are the best outside of yuty and egg tames like wyverns or rock drakes. They have to be fertilized. HOWEVER THIS IS NOT ALL. You can not actually tame the adult, only the baby, however they have the same stats, although the baby will have a different trait than the parent. You can not kill the adult and claim the baby, so make sure the adult isn’t killed or the baby is untameable. Once you find a nest get in all ghillie. Throw the eggs far from the nest while still being in range. From my tests, the farthest distance you can throw the eggs that the gigantoraptor adult will pick up is 80-90 meters from the nest. I’d recommend throwing them uphill of the nest with no obstacles in the way as this will allow you to see when the gigantoraptor has finished an egg. Before going to the eggs, the gigantoraptor will check the nest and make sure it’s okay, then go to eat. Then you must climb in the nest, and the baby will climb in. You must copy its move in the little timeframe above its head. I’ve noticed a bias towards the spin move. The baby will then leave the nest and return shortly to do again. After an egg is eaten the adult will walk back to the nest, at which point you must leave, hide a little distance away, until the adult leaves to eat. If it or the baby is agroed, the adult will leave the eggs and figh
Other useful tips
1. The gigantoraptor has to be at a higher level than the baby to carry it in its saddle and claim it.
2. When doing bonding, I recommend doing it in an early game area like the beach or shores as the hunts can be on almost anything, including alpha rexes and brontos. If your gigantoraptor is strong, I’d recommend the swamp due to its large number of easy to kill creatures, meaning that finding a target should be easy and likely so will killing it. Just be wary of going into too deep water as Baryonyx can stun you, and watch out for deinosuchus.
