Stories Tips

What are some stories about the dunkleosteus? Memorable dunkleosteus stories, wild encounters, and fan fiction.
Crazy, lucky story, I was on a server (mobile) and I was wondering the beaches. At this time I was a TOTAL noob and was like level 10. Anyway I was wondering the beach and someone had abandoned one of these guys, with a saddle, right at shore. I got so excited that I had this OP dino fish. So end of story I went on a rampage with this guy at like level 10. This was great till I didnt play for a while, even deleted the game, and then came back and I don't remember the server and he's probably gone now. Super fun though.

“Are you ready?” Mr. Mo asked Loki as Loki slowly adjusted his helmet. Loki twirled his two karambits and hooked them. He put his arm in the air and gave him a thumbs up.
“Yeah of course,” Loki replied. Mr. Mo remained in his fur suit, and he brushed some snow off his shoulder plates. He let out a heavy cough and put his hand out to excuse himself.
“Just a moment. I need to give out orders, and we’ll be on our way to the cave.”
Mr. Mo walks into the compound, then walks out hastily with two longneck rifles in hand. He walked over to Brad and his goons, and for the next few minutes gave them some orders. He hands the rifles over to the group, grabs some darts from his pockets, and pours them into their eager hands. Mr. Mo turned around and walked over to Loki.
Loki looked at Brad and squinted his eyes, crossing his arms and shaking his head in disapproval. He turned to Mr. Mo, furious.
“Why exactly are we giving them those rifles?” Loki asked.
“I’ve tasked them with taming a few creatures around the area. Argentavis for mobility and Mammoths for wood,” Mr. Mo answered. He waved his hand and began to walk to the pens. Loki followed.
“Mr. Mo with all due respect,” Loki chided, “Those guys aren’t even going to bother stepping foot outside our territory. How will we know they’ll even stay on task?”
“Dr. Aston will make sure they do what they’re told. I trust he can supervise them,” Mr. Mo assured Loki, “Now let’s go. What they do is Dr. Aston’s problem, not ours.”
Loki hesitantly mounted Monarch, and Mr. Mo mounted Slackjaw. The two took off to the skies, and began to travel north.
As the duo traveled, Loki noticed the many fauna wandering the tundra. Through thick snowfall, Loki could see Woolly Mammoths and Rhinos trotting through their home, grazing off the little grass there was and the large, barren trees of the snow. Wolves ran through the snow, their cries shattering the air. Loki smiled at the sight of wolves.
“Say, Loki,” Mr. Mo noted, “You don’t seem too bothered by the cold.”
Loki turned to Mr. Mo with a gentle smile.
“Well, I was born in the snow,” Loki responded. He tugged on the reins some more, and as they flew closer to the tundra coasts, they could see icebergs floating in the water, aimlessly wandering the sea. Penguins with black fur and white chests swam through the water, pecking and playing with each other. Tucked off in the corner of a cliffside of ice was a cavern that seemed too small to be noticeable.
“Is that it?” Loki asked, pointing at the entrance.
“Yes it is, Loki.”
The two land their Pteranodons near the entrance of the cave, and begin to make their way inside. As they go inside, the chilling cold pierces the fur armor Mr. Mo’s wearing. Mr. Mo shivers, taking a few deep breaths in and out as they venture further into the cave. A wisp of mist exits Mr. Mo’s mouth as he breathes in and out.
“It sure is cold in here,” Mr. Mo muttered, clenching his fists. His dark brown eyes looked like they were turning blue from the cold.
“Are you going to be okay?” Loki asked with worry, his eyebrow furrowed and his eyes pinned at the goosebumps lining his face. Mr. Mo turned to Loki and winked.
“Yeah. All good for the old man.”
Loki smirks, and continues walking into the ice. The ice made crunching noises as they traveled beyond.
Crunch, crunch, crunch.
Whispers of wind floated in the air, and soon the path diverged into three. A three-pronged fork, if Mr. Mo had ever seen one. Loki looked at each path, evaluating where they should go next.
“A maze,” Mr. Mo growled, clenching his fists, “How inconvenient.”
“Not quite,” Loki said with a sly smile. Cunning as always, he pointed to the left pathway. “When faced with a maze, you should always hug the wall-”
Mr. Mo put his arms out and planted them onto the wall.
“Like this?” Mr. Mo asked with his pearly whites out.
“What? No! That’s not what I mean,” Loki groaned, slapping his face.
“Ah ha ha ha ha! I’m joking, I know what you mean,” Mr. Mo retorted with a snort. He began to walk down the left pathway.
As they made their way through the icicle littered cave, the cavern suddenly began to grow wider. Mr. Mo paused in his tracks, halting Loki as well. Loki looked past Mr. Mo’s shoulder impatiently.
“What’s the hold up-”
Waiting for them was a small, narrow walkway made of ice, the middle carved out and missing. It was a bridge to another part of the cavern, and below the bridge were many sharp stalagmites of ice and rock. Sharp and tough, the cavern’s mouth seemed fit to swallow the two if they dared to make a slip up. A cold bead of sweat slowly traveled down Loki’s hairline, and to the bottom of his helmet.
“That’s quite the drop,” Loki said with uncertainty.
“It is,” Mr. Mo replied, eyeing the bridge nervously. It seemed fit to crack and break from the slightest touch.
“Maybe we should turn back. There’s gotta be another way,” Loki insisted, turning around.
“No. We can make that jump,” Mr. Mo barked, his voice hoarse and demanding. Loki turned around to see Mr. Mo run forward.
“Mr. Mo!” Loki cried out as he outstretched his arm.
Mr. Mo bent his knees, and the ice began to crack under his boots. He made one giant leap, his arms up in the air and his head pointed to the ground.
CLUNK!
Mr. Mo landed on the other side effortlessly, not a single step even taken on the bridge. Loki was petrified, his pupils shrinking and shaking.
“Come on. The faster you do it the faster the fear fades,” Mr. Mo said, showing Loki the palm of his hand. Loki blinked his jade green eyes, and they began to scan the jump.
It was far too big to jump with his pure strength, he certainly would not have been able to make the jump. He’d have to cross the bridge.
Loki stepped forward, gently placing a boot on the bridge. It showed no signs of cracking, so Loki proceeded. He placed the other forward, then again, until he reached the end.
Now there was a small jump he’d have to make. Loki shut his eyes, his heart hammering against his chest, telling him to stop. He could feel and hear it in his ears.
Badump, badump, badump!
“Come on… No more holding back,” Loki muttered as his eyes jolted open again. Loki let out a grunt and he jumped forward, his arms flailing in the air, but as he landed on the bridge, the ice cracked, and exploded into a million shards.
“No!” Loki cried, stumbling backward and falling into the void…
Without warning, an arm grabbed his wrist, and Loki was left dangling above the spikes. Mr. Mo’s head peeked from beyond, and Loki let out a sigh of relief. But that sigh of relief turned to anxiety as he could see Mr. Mo’s arm shaking.
“Ugh. You’re a real heavy kid I’ll tell you that,” Mr. Mo grunted. He gripped his wrist as tight as he could.
“Easy, I don’t wanna fall and…” Loki looked down and gulped. He looked back up, and with sudden power Mr. Mo lifted Loki up with a cry. Loki’s body felt lighter.
Mr. Mo grabbed his other wrist and pulled him up, and the two were left sprawled out on the ice. Mr. Mo was breathing heavily, his eyes pale and blue. The blue was slowly starting to fade though.
“Whew. That was- That was close,” Loki said, “Thank you, Mr. Mo. Thank you.”
“You’re right. A bit too close,” Mr. Mo replied, ignoring his gratitude. He sat up and patted the dust off his shoulder. Then, he got on one knee and propelled himself up, raising an arm out for his student.
“Come on. Let’s go.”
The two wander down a thin, narrow, icy pathway until eventually the cavern expanded again. Loki felt fear invade his heart again. It better not have been another thin ice bridge with spikes waiting below.
Luckily, it was something a lot better.
First of all, the cavern was humming with power. Loki could feel his implant humming and vibrating. And so was Mr. Mo’s. Mr. Mo grunted, gritting his teeth and blinking his eyes rapidly.
Scattered throughout the cavern were strange veins made of some black metal, and humming with a blue light. As they hummed, so did the strange artifact in the center of the room. Floating up and down on an obsidian pedestal was a strange object that resembled a wing. It was glowing orange and had some orange light within. It rotated slowly, its power waiting to be used. A beam of light was pouring down onto it, which came from a hole in the ceiling.
“What IS that?” Loki asked, pointing his thumb at the artifact.
“No clue,” Mr. Mo replied honestly. He shrugged, “Why don’t you grab it and find out?”
Loki walked forward and gingerly reached his hand out to touch it.
BZZZZZ!
As Loki’s finger tapped onto the artifact, it disintegrated into dust and traveled into Loki’s implant. Loki let out a gasp as he stared at his implant, which flashed orange. But the touch… Loki felt soft metal that was as smooth as butter, yet as rough as rock. It had some unexplainable touch to it.
It almost felt like technology back at home.
“Where’d it go?!” Loki panicked, looking at his sweating palms. Mr. Mo stepped forward, putting a shoulder on Loki’s shoulder. His eyes pierced Loki’s implant.
“Hm,” Mr. Mo said. He tapped Loki’s implant, “How about right here?”
Wings sprouted from Loki’s back, and he let out a gasp. They were made of the same metal that the artifact was made of. His wings glowed orange and had that same orange light lined across the border. The wings shuffled back and forth, then began to flap.
“Woah,” Loki gasped as he looked at each wing. The wings flapped, creating a draft of wind that blew their hair back. Loki grinned.
“Cool.”
Mr. Mo grinned and pointed at the hole in the ceiling.
“Easier escape right there. Fly us out will ‘ya?”
“With pleasure.”
Loki grabbed Mr. Mo around the waist, then propelled himself into the air, the wings on his back flapping wildly. They flew past the hole and back into the snowfall of the tundra, a strong wind making Loki fly forward a little bit.
Loki looked around, scouting the area with his green eyes until he saw the coastline again with the icebergs. He began to fly forward, and as they reached the coast they saw Monarch and Slackjaw waiting patiently near the cave entrance.
Loki slowly landed on the snow, land he let go of Mr. Mo. With the will of his mind, the wings flapped and folded back. Mr. Mo turned around with a grin and put his hand in the air. Loki took his hand and high-fived him.
Slap!
“Ha ha! That was awesome!” Mr. Mo laughed with a grin.
“I know right? I guess I can fly now!” Loki said with a soft chuckle. He looked at Monarch, whose eyes were pinned at his wings, “So are we heading home now?”
“Of course we are,” Mr. Mo said, “There’s no reason not to, kid. Let’s go.”
They mounted their Pteranodons and took off into the air, flying back home.
As their Pteranodons fly through the snow, Loki couldn’t help but ask,
“Why’d you save me back then Mr. Mo? You didn’t need to. You could’ve just left me and grabbed the artifact for yourself.”
Mr. Mo looked at Loki with a soft smile, a warm expression on his face.
“Because you’re a good kid, Loki. And I’m not gonna let you die. I promise you we’ll survive.”
“Are we going to survive? Together?” Loki asked with a grin.
“Of course. I’ll use all the knowledge I have,” Mr. Mo said. His expression changed to that of rage, but it shifted back immediately, “To keep us both safe. That’s a promise.”
Loki smiled, and held his pinky out.
“A promise.”
“That’s right. A promise.”
The two wrapped their pinkies around each other, and shook up and down. They let go, looking at the settlement ahead of them with wide eyes. Smoke was pouring from one of the buildings, and a fire seemed to have started. The residents were running around frantically, and Mr. Mo tugged on the reins of Slackjaw.
“Something’s happened,” Mr. Mo whispered, his eyes turning blue.
The two dived toward the settlement and landed near the complex. Loki noticed one of Brad’s friends sprawled out on the ground, seemingly dead, and another running away screaming so hard he looked fit to burst.
“Take your weapons out. Just in case,” Mr. Mo warned Loki. Loki unhooked his karambits and flipped them, hooking a thumb on each. Mr. Mo reached for his back and reached into a leather quiver of sorts. He pulled out a pike that was dyed red. Mr. Mo flipped the red pike and held it in both his hands.
“Let’s go.”
Wohoo! Just tamed a male level 6, I thought it was going to be harder than it seemed tho I guess my level influences, I'm level 89 and I used a crossbow and poison arrows, used a female Sarco level 19 as an escape/travel tame which are very fast on the map "The Island" I was being chased by 4-5 Megalodons probably between level 15-25 and I managed to leave them behind, when I saw the Dunkleo I went right after, got as close as possible it and shot it, I saw another one before that was male level 10 nearby but I don't know what happened, the other one attacked me but this one just ran, when it was knocked out I gave it superior kibble and boom! Only one, tho it ate the other because it was hungry so I kind of wasted one, now I'm heading back to my base with the Dunkleo inside of a criopod (if it's spelled like that)
Btw is anyone else lazy to play in another map and having to start from 0? I wanted to play on "Lost Island" tho the zone I chose was pretty dead and I was dying of hunger, lol
Hope my story also helped with "Taming & Knock Out" I wasn't sure in which category to put it
One time on Fjorhor I was just on my maewing looking for high level rexes and I saw a dunkleo on the shore and so I decided to go down and net it and tame it! I named it dunkan and as I was trying to get it back to my base (I didn’t have cryos yet) it uh well it seems to attract ALOT of dangerous sea creatures like mangas, megs, ect. And it almost died so I decided to leave it until I got cryos, so now he’s at my base and safe (I got a saddle and he’s cool and all but he has really bad stamina and is super slow and hard to move around)

Under the waves: chapter 10
Pearl watched a strange figure in the distance. It was her turn during watch, and she had spotted something. What was it? A small megalodon? An Ichyosaur? She didn’t know. The creature paused, and turned in the direction of the cave they were resting in before fleeing into a patch of kelp. Weird. She left trench asleep to peruse it, as the cave was well hidden and he has a tendency to wake up very easily ever since they saw the ruined sanctuary. She dove into a small algae patch just as it emerged, looking around wearily. She still wasn’t close enough, but that changed as she raced after it. It let out a shriek and tried to get away, but she already had it pinned to the sea floor, sand billowing up around them. Once the sand cleared, she saw it was a large ichthy, dark grey body with yellow stripes and eyes. They struggled a bit, but stopped as soon as it realized it was futile. “P-please. I don’t- I just-“ it stammered. “Calm down. I’m not going to kill you.” Pearl interrupted. The ichthy kept twitching in a nervous way, as if it thought she was lying. “What’s your name?” She asked it gently. “B-Bright spot.” It said nervously. It sounded male, although he’s a bit high pitched. Or maybe it’s because he looks as if he would have a heart attack if she even moved. “Who.. Who are you?” Bright spot asked. “Pearl.” She responded, smiling.
“What.. what do you want with me?” He asked. Pearl considered how to say it for a moment. “Bright spot… are you able to do things other ichthyosaurs can’t?” She asked. “I.. maybe? Nobody else could see the things I could see.” He asked, as if she would bite him if he said no. “What do you see?” She prodded, a little annoyed by how he kept stammering. To be honest, she would be frightened if something triple her size pinned her to the sand, too. He seemed to brighten a little bit. “Oh! I see lots of things. I saw you and another plesiosaur, and I saw a megalodon a few miles over there,” he verged his head east. “And I see that there’s a crab right there.” He suddenly jerked his head into the sand and pulled out a still wriggling crab. How did he tell? “Interesting. Well, there’s this… prophecy. And you might be in it, especially if you can do things no other creature can do.” He gasped. “M-Me? In a prophecy?” He asked, amazed. “Maybe.” Pearl responded. “Here, follow me. And for the love of vipers, don’t run off.” She instructed. When she returned to the cave with bright spot trailing behind, trench was awake and moving in a panicked way. “There you are!” He said. “Where were you? I thought something might have happened.” She smiled. “I found someone In The prophecy.” She told him. Trench inspected a very nervous bright spot. “You sure? I feel like this shouldn’t be common knowledge for random creatures to know.” Trench said. “I’m sure. He can-“ she started. Bright spot immediately interrupted. “MOSA!” He shrieked. Trench tilted his head, but pearl didn’t question his abilities. Leading them out of the cave, they swam off. Bright spot looked like he was resisting the urge to disappear. They stopped to rest at a small dead reef, then the mosasaur lunged out of the kelp and closed it’s jaws around pearl’s neck.
Idk if this happens to every one but…
I was riding on my ichy exploring when I saw this thing,it was a decent level white and green female, so I tamed it,and I named it Willow,Me and Willow got tons of metal, oil, and rock, and we also got a lot of meg teeth. But then it happened…(I play mobile and single)This happens to me every time I download and play Ark, it deletes my progress and and I spawn at a different island, next thing I now when I get to the island I lived on, every this wild… usually most of my creatures die and I go to check my water pets. I find my two ichys dead (tsunami= white and green female, riptide= black and red male), my manta(Cloudwave=blue green and white male) and my two sharks(Jaws= orange and white male, and Lagoon= teal red and black female)
The only two creatures that lived was Willow and my bas( Big chungus=sapphire and teal and gray male)
I stared in rage to see that most of my hard earned work just-POOF!
Pls fix this glitch thingy, im tired of losing every thing! 🆙 if this happens to you😤
Absolutely hate this creature it runs out of stamina soooo quick and moves so slow, I tamed one then died because I ran out of oxygen and it was instantly out of stamina and couldn’t get to the surface then got stuck on a rock and I can no longer move it. Honestly just better to take an ichty and mine oil with a pick
