Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a dunkleosteus? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dunkleosteus.
Very easy to tame if you know what your doing. First tame an Ichthyosaur. Then grab a crossbow and some tranq arrows and find one and knock it out. It is not be able to attack if you are on the Ichthy. As you are taming it, be sure to remain on the Ichthy unless feeding narcs, so other creature don’t hurt you.
These are one of the few dinos that take less damage/topour from head shots. Aim for the body.
When it says 1.7% chance of death. It means it's going to die.
This thing is tough and you will see this on the deepest water on ark but this thing is slow and sometimes passive sometimes aggressive you can tame this but you need to trap this but be careful the bite of this is like a Rex but you can use this as Rock farmer
Bring more tranq arrows then you think! Mine took 100 at close range, on the body, at LEVEL 3.
I took cooked prime meat (stays better longer) and got mine in only four feedings. On an icthy they don’t chase (mobile player here) happy taming- Survivor Belle
Be sure to bring lots and I means LOTS of tranq arrows 150 at least to be safe avoid head shots....obviously
Just tamed a 140 X Dunky. Yeahhh, really recommend that you build a trap for these peeps, spent 40+ mins trying to knock out this bad boy with a decent crossbow all while dodging tussos ect. Good times, stressful but good.
Here’s a taming guide!: First you need tranq arrows between 99 and 200 because they are tanks! Second find them: They spawn at the edge of the map at the bottom of the sea. Next aim for the body! Nowhere else because it’s very hard to knock them out with headshots and Titanaboa Kibble or Superior Kibble is a good idea since it’s easier and lastly have fun with your new Slam Dunk! (Also bring a lot of bio toxin)
Says 113 tranqs for a 55 Dunk but an X-Dunk took about 180...
Here's how to tame in creative 1 tranq it 2 feed it meat (any) 3 kill everything aggro 4 wait for it to tame 5 (tip) cryo it to herbivore isle for safe zone and make sure o kill all meglos near isle in kinda shallow areas like the circle part (best choice for place in water)
They are a really easy tame if near the barrier.
Just get a scuba suit and flippers and clear out the area.
Next just shoot it when facing thing the barrier and it will run into it getting stuck.
If it tries to attack you just move to the side they have a very large turning radius
Grab extra arrows/bullets to tame these (more than how much dododex shows), because you might need to catch breath and it will take time and might drop its torpor.
For Fjordur: actually very common spawns, but only at the bottom of sea trenches. When prepping to tame, be sure to clear out any sea scorpions or Megs nearby, or you'll be making drunk fish food.
X-Dunkys took me a lot more tranq arrows than Dododex would suggest, especially considering my 745% crossbow - that still took around 30 shots. Body shots are ideal, since the head is heavily armored.
Be careful starve taming! They don't wake up fast, but they eat very slowly, and mine wouldn't eat the last kibble piece when I dropped in all the ones dododexs calculator said. Let it starve an extra hundred or so food to avoid that happening to you!
For a X-version BRING AS MUCH TRANQ THINGS AS POSSIBLE! Make USE A ICHY! I have used a Bary but it was to fast to get so i had to corner it, you could try the huge octo tame for grabbing but i doubt youd get that before a dunkleo but if you do...USE IT. Hope this helps -The NightWart
The dunkleosteus. Primarily known as the bone crusher. It's head was made of an armour plate so common sense says.. don't aim for its head. You're welcome.
DO BE CAUTIOUS WITH TRANQ ARROWS!!! I was with my sarco lookin for one of these and I found one (😃) so I went to town with the arrows, when an angeler came outta nowhere. I bit it once and it died. I also bit the dunky, a few arrows latter it just… died. (😱) so use a harpoon instead!
They are slow. Any tamed water mount that isn't a dunkle can out-swim it
They take roughly a fourth of the time it says to knock one with a tuso, the torpor from grabbing a dunkleo ignores it’s armor
It’s not worth taming these things on mobile I’ve lost plenty of otters because of this tame it attracts too much aquatic sea creatures which isn’t good and doesn’t do much, it just collects oil and stone and not a lot of it ur better off taming a ichty and mining oil with a pick than this
Found in the really deep sea…….
