Encountering Tips
How do I kill a dunkleosteus? dunkleosteus battling strategies in ARK: Survival Evolved.
Dunkleosteus (meaning “Dunkle’s Bone”) in real life had the fastest bite of ANY animal in history, able open AND close its mouth in 1/50 OF A SECOND!! This causes water to be pulled in so quickly, it’s mouth then acted as a split-second vacuum, instantly pulling its prey into its mouth.
Oh, and it ate sharks during its time (late Devonian Period) since sharks weren’t as apex or as developed (looking more like eels, ie. the Cladasolache).
Steelslaughter here,
I’ve made the comment on this having the fastest bite of all time, and I thank you for correcting me with this information. I actually never heard about this ant, so major thanks for this break in the case. And sorry about what I said before with this creature.
The guy who was correcting the guy who said dunkle had the fastest bite, what if he is referring to the most fastest prehistoric creatures bite, and were not here to start a argument cause of a ant
They may seem calm, and won't be dangerous most of the time, but don't be fooled: They boast descent damage and godlike resistance, think of them as Rock Elementals of the sea, exchanging HP for numbers.
Just like elementals, they have a small aggro range, very slow movement speed and not the highest of the DPS. But if you get cornered, be ready to suffer a slow death by their stone-crushing jaws.
It lives underwater in deep waters
Whoever said this thing is neutral was wrong... very wrong.
The Center map. 40Lat,85 Long- Countless Dunkleo pit. You're welcome for your death.
Is surprisingly stunned by a Baryonyx!
To find a dunkleo simply hit an ammonite and it will cry to its ocean army so easy find
They usually near the cave behind carno island,i usually see them everytime I go down there
They are neutral when solo. However, they will agro when in groups of 3 or more.
Bigger than you think this rocky shark is but it turns really slow so you have time to escape
best way is to find one near the beaches on the southern area of Crystal Isles. they will be spawned there.. and stuck for some reason. just have a long neck and around 50 darts
Dunkleos are like aquatic dire bears. Get too close to it and it will attack you. However they can be outswimmed by everyting in the ocean.
To the guy who said his journeyman sword done 300-400 dmg but only 100 to the dunkle, the sword damage differs depending on where you hit and how armoured the creature you are attacking is.

Don’t wanna get chomped by those teeth
Alright so if you know where the green pillar is go to the right side right into the water keep going deeper until you find a lot of rocks (there’s a lot of rocks there so if you can’t find rocks there meaning you’re in the wrong spot or something) it’s a little hard to search that spot because of the rock but there are a lot of didn’t things like eels and dunkleosteus and those water things that you can build a base well I found some anyway be on a ichthy
Despite being called RARE finds there actually relatively easy to find and if by chance one catches you unaware and you flee I wouldn’t worry cause your nan could outrace one
Hi, I had a sword that does like 300-400 damage to some Dino’s, but when I used it it only did about 100 damage to this guy. And mine was I think a journeyman sword. If you wanna kill this thing. Get a GOOD sword.
PS the “teeth” aren’t really teeth; they’re actually bony plates and are a part of its skull.
