On Valguero, these can be found within the Wyvern Trench in the northeast of the map. Go to the bottom of the trench's eastmost side to see a river of lava flowing into a cave. You'll find dung beetles in there, along with arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus. Visibility in the cave is low, so I recommend using first person while on your mount inside and maybe turning up the gamma. It is extremely easy to kill one of these while fighting other creatures in the cave, but if you spot one before you get to fighting, you can try to avoid it until you're done. I highly recommend getting a wyvern to help you do this beforehand, due to the dangerous nature of the area. They will help you avoid wyverns on the way in and out (which are territorial and may pursue you, and you can either defeat them or outrun them) and they will also help you in the cave. As long as you are mounted on a wyvern, arthropleura, pulmonoscorpius, mantids, and araneomorphus will not attack you, until you start attacking them. The minute you dismount, they will come for you, so you can use this to your advantage to defeat them and/or lead them away from the dung beetle you want. You can hold a tamed dung beetle while flying the wyvern. :) Good luck and happy hunting.

They can't eat massive animal feces for some reason

So to tame one go to a lower south cave get spoiled meat and passive feed them and kill everything except dung beetles in the area

How to use them they are used to make fertilizer and oil put poop in inventory and build a box for it get it in the box put it on wonder and boom fertilizer and oil they sometimes prouduce oil

For Mobile Players: There are multiple tips suggesting to put the beetle in a cage; don't. The little bugger has gotten out of mine several times and needed to be 'recalled'. Resorted to building a stone window frame box around him. Still gives access from any side, and he stays put.

The new owl pellets from Extinction don't work on the beetles for taming purposes.

Upgrade melee for range. Weight is useless . It will still collect poop and blackbox

How to tame:

Go to South Cave and find it

Make sure a strong tame is with you and start feeding it some feces or spoiled meat

When tamed quickly pick him up and leave the cave.

They process different feces types at the same time. Fill them with some of each kind to maximize the speed they go at.

1. To tame put poop in last hotbar slot.

2. Once it tamed it eats spoiled meat !

Use a feeding trough so the food doesn’t weigh them down

On Ab, there are no Phiomias, so here's an alternative: If you go into the red mushrooms, you will poop... A lot. You can load all that poop on a dung beatle and get lots of fertilizer! It will give you more for bigger poop though.

An easy tame if you have poop/rotten meat! I got two well leveling up in the bog today and they have very pretty colors so if you carry meat or pick up random poop and have something to KO them with then I suggest taming one!

Once you get 2+ dung beetles just go ahead and destroy your compost bins

They are passive tames. I always pick them up with my Argy and take them to my base and drop into a taming pen or at least somewhere safe on the map (whichever is closer). I’ve always used spoiled meat to tame and it doesn’t take much time at all.

Dung bettle very usefull cuz can make some poops into vertilizer and oil, u should have this one bugs if you are the farmer (usefull tip : you better tame it after having a green house and large corp plots)

You can find these on the center of Extinction, sometimes nearby the swamp area.

In Genesis they are also roaming around the swamp.

They can be found in the dunes near the blue obilisk on scorched earth

Fun fact: On mobile, this b*stards can crawl out of the back of wooden cages. Either put the back to a wall or build a double high wooden post behind.

Utility: ‘Nuff said fam.

Also you should tame two at least, to keep up with the demands especially if you have a greenhouse already.
