Tips & Strategies
This is how I tame them wolves:
You will need…
1. Bola (I sometimes do without)
2. PLENTY of ammo (I don’t mean just 5 tranqs people)
3. A flier (I recommend argy to pick up wolf and go out of snowy biome)
4. Bio toxin or narcotics (just in case)
5. Kibble, meat, or fish (fish is not meat)
6. Full armor (if no bolas you’re gonna need it…)
7. (Optional) Hide hat so your dog can become pirate dog
8. (Should have mentioned earlier) bow, crossbow, or longneck rifle
What to do…
1. Fly on flier and go to snow biome.
2. Locate a dire wolf (you should know what a wolf looks like)
3. (If on an argy) pick it up and carry it out of snow biome, as predators like saber won’t get it there
3. (If no argy or Quetz) lure it away from predators (maybe take some time)
4. Take out that bola (if you have one) and throw it at that bad puppy!
5. Shoot the beast with tranqs until it does it’s falling-asleep thing
6. Put the kibble, meat, or fish in inventory along with narcotics/bio toxin
7. (Opt.) place bed by dog so if you die
7. Guard your to-be-your-doggo with all your life/lives
8. Name him when he wakes up an’ take back your narcotics/bio toxins
9. Get out of there to your home it is!
10. Lvl him/her up!
If you got this far,note there is a pack so be suspicious if you see one on it’s own, as it probably isn’t alone. Also, don’t charge low-lvl wolf at alpha raptor, even if it’s close to your house, b/c I learned the hard way. R.I.P Winter, my first direwolf that I will always hold in my heart.
More Direwolf Taming & KO Tips
I tryed to trap one but the whole pack followed me in so now I have 6
Did you know that the lvl 390s in the ice cave are tamable you make them agro bring to entrance we’re they can’t fit and tranq but make sure they don’t tame above max tamed lvl 450 good luck it takes 3 hours and 50 minutes to tame on 1x and 500 narcotics. When tamed you can breed super over powered wolves hope this is helpful and hope you read this it’s useful

Let’s say you want to tame a high-level DireWolf and you find yourself next to a pack, but you forgot your trusty spyglass. The best way to figure out which wolf has the highest level is to get close enough to where they howl but not so close that they can attack.(Remember, they come in packs and have high melee damage), once they howl, the highest-level wolf will emit a red-yellow aura, which usually means they have the highest level and are the alpha.

Best way to tame is to build a trap.
Step1: place nine foundations in a square.
Step2: place walls on the corners, and place doorways in between the walls, don’t put doors in the doorways.
Step3: place ramps on all the walls and doors leading up to the cage.
Step4:find a pack of direwolfs.
Step5:agro them then run toward your trap.
Step6:run into the trap then out the doorway.
Since direwolfs can only go through double doorways they will be stuck in the box and you can shoot them with tranqs.
P.S use wood cause they can’t damage it.

I think this creatures are too strong... my friend and me see a group of wolfs (we play on ps4) one lvl 140 another lvl 145 (on ps4 is max level of wild dinos 150) we bola all of the 4 wolfs, kill the lowlevels and tame the good ones. After tame we have a women and a men of wolfs (lvl210 and lvl214) and without more skilling they make 654 damage!!!!!! I think the Direwolfs must be not bolable. they opopopopop fithing dinos and very easy to tame. i hope you learn about this tipp and rate 🔼 this to other players see this (we have over 6 wolfs (breeded) and he are verrry strong) (tip: tame so many you can)
im not sure if others are experiencing this, but on mobile whenever i knock out a wolf and move too far away from it while its unconscious, the whole creature disappears forever. just.. straight up ceases to exist. be careful mobile users
How to tame:
You will need:
Tranq arrows or darts doesn’t matter what (or a boomerang) may kill it though Also just a tip tranq arrows from a crossbow may kill it if a low lvl. BOLAS WORK ON THEM SO THAT IS THE BEST WAY
1. Bola (ofc)
2.knock it out
3. MEAT prime- or just normal doesn’t matter really just any meat :)

Bolas help a ton, but you still need a bit of luck.
please tame one of your a good level!! i love mine so much and you will too. me and t-bone have killed two rex and all kinds of other big dinos. you won’t regret doing this!!!
