Good thing about dire wolf:
-they have a decent amount of health
-they can wear hat/helmet which mean they can get much more amor compare to saddle and you can skin the helmet they are wearing if you want
-they can jump very far and fast which mean you can basically just keep spamming jump and your dire wolf will move like sonic
-THEY DONT NEED SADDLE TO MOUNT
-they deal alot of damage(for a medium size creature)
They havest pelt really good
-very good cave creature to farm chitin
-They can detect low health enermy,creature and explorer note
-they can be carry by giant eagle bird thing(i forgot the name)
-in a pack of 3, they can buff themself up by howling(which is very good)
Bad thing about dire wolf:
-because they can jump very fast and far, you can sometime accidentally jump off a cliff or into lava in the cave
-they cant carry much weight which mean you gonna need an other creature to carry stuff when farming
That all i know for now,if there more that i missed, just sudmit it , if you going to do cave or killing alpha or creature, dire wolf is one of your best choice
More Direwolf Utility Tips
No saddle needed.
Getting a TLC patch in March 2018 to add howl that will initiate the pack bonus for 5 minutes, will be able to sniff out players or creatures with less than 50% health, and will be able to detect explorer notes.
They can sniiff out hidden animal and also can sniiff out explorer nots and artifact

Vicious and lightning fast, the Dire Wolf is a great all-around mount for adventuring and attacking. I highly recommended to bring packs of Dire Wolves for any hostile situation. Whether it be kill Alphas, or raid bases, it's size, agility, and damage make for a deadly beast.
Best dino for early game.
Doesnt heed much arrows to tame , just stand on top of a rock and shoot at it. Once tamed it doesnt need a saddle to be ridden. And believe me when i say it absolutly shreds anything!!

Very important early tame although it may be difficult, it doesn't require a saddle and it gathers lots of hide which is difficult to get early in game
You can put a cloth hat on them and they can be pirate dogs
Direwolves are easily my favorite tame on the island, they are extremely good battle creatures especially in packs. Breeding and imprinting (which I did) as well as leveling them up means you can take on nearly everything. Itβs extreme mobility and small size means you can use it for most caves, as well as collecting tons of chitin and meat along the way. This is a 9/10 tame for me, due to its relatively easy taming process (bola then tranq) and its extremely versatile usage.

With no saddle, your wolf will have no means of armor. This means that you're way more prone to damage, so upgrading health is imperative if you want a Dire Wolf that is viable in combat.
