They are almost guaranteed to die if your using a crossbow so I definitely recommend using tranq darts also when trapping try to do a 2x2 rather than a 1x2 as with a 1x2 they can glitch out the trap or sometimes not fit

These things are easy to tame it’s just the animals around it make it seem impossible

Bring a owl if you are taming the bear. You can heal it when it’s health are low

If you have a quetzal you can pick him up and take him to somewhere safe. I recently found a lvl 150 direbear in the redwoods and it died while I was away getting food and got the idea to just use my quetzal. Also if you're on mobile you can do the hunt argentavis pursuit to get a quetzal saddle for free.

No-one really uses these- they are so underrated. I’m planning on taming a few as my terrestrial tanks. Tbh, I’m surprised something with this much power is so looked over

Tranq it get meat and if your lucky it’s still there if it’s not either it’s not there or it got eaten by terror birds carnos and an allosaurus

Build a 2x2 stone trap with single doorframes surrounding it with ramps/stairs coming down from the top of it, lure it into the trap (use a slingshot to lure it), knock it out (preferably with tranq or anything higher in the engram), if health is too low, kill anything nearby and drag the dead body to the bear to get it’s health back up.

Make sure to prepare your 100+ narcotics and honey pot, mutton (if on Aberration kill all those Ovis mwahahah) or prime meat before and during taming (if you do not have any, use regular meat it’ll just take longer), remember the higher the level the longer and more resources it takes to tame it.

Meanwhile kill every carnivorous creatures around it to ensure its safety. (I usually make cryopod so I don’t have to destroy the structure once it is tamed to cryo the bear to reuse the trap)

Now you have a medium sized tank tamed to get honey or to assist in taming giant queen bees, hope this helps for those who are new at taming, happy taming everyone! \(^o^)/

A 3x3 and 1x door frames all round and you’ve got a good trap if you can try and feed it a dead body

Best way to tame these is to build a little 2x2 stone fence foundation square, a stone Dino gate at one end a stone doorway at the other and fill the rest with stone window frames. Lure it in the gateway, run our the doorway, tranq safely through the window frames

While breeding this creature is not as difficult as others, There's an easier way to do it. When it is born I advise you feed it raw meat until it hits juvenile stage, after that point fill up troughs and the bears inventory with mixed berries, since this creature is an omnivore it can eat berries. Using berries until it is fully adult will ensure that it's food source does not spoil as quickly as raw meat can. Good Luck!

Name it Baloo, collect 5k fiber in a few... boost speed and weight if you want it to collect fiber. Boost Melee and health if you want a fighter, obviously.

For me these are impossible to tame without a trap

Dire bears have the same base torpor and torpor gain per level as an allosaurus, meaning darts are almost a requirement (unless of course narco traps are utilised). To put this in perspective, Allos have 63% more base health than a dire bear and gain more health per level, and even with a lvl 150 allo there is still a 1.5% chance that they’ll die for a 100% damage Crossbow. In summary, use darts, it makes it a hell of a lot easier.

Direbears are deadly when aggro'd so try to trap them in a ramp box. Use darts, as even an ascendant crossbow will porobably kill them. Great for carrying weight, crossing distances, and gathering fiber, meat, and berries.

In my eyes a lot of peeps don’t talk about this amazing sugar addicted bear and trust me when I say it’s worth it because u can run around on carnivore island and cause a blood bath.In a summary it is a mid game there lvl 30-50

To tame a lvl 100+ you cannot use tranq arrows as it'll die but still the torpor will not increase fully... you need a lot of tranq darts...say like 50 for a lvl 120 bear... need a soothing balm and some prime or raw meat... I will suggest to put 3 stone pillars on each other and add wooden ladders... lure the bear (or you can also make the structure near the bear, as it only agros if you go too close to it) and get on the pillars...start shooting...This part is easy, but the knockout part is tricky, cuz the bear will run when it's torpor is high and believe me it runs really fast, make sure you don't lose it and keep shooting tranq darts...also make sure you have already killed any carnos and terror birds around...

But all your hardwork will pay...

I have a lvl 200 bear and i wiped the entire population of redwood. :)

Step one.get large bear trap

Step two.schoot it with tranq darts till its knocked out

Step three.use honey with smoothing balm

And boom you just got youreself a bear with 1 honey hope this helps all of you good luck
