Gonna have to chase em around, I saved it from a sarco and then had to find it, chase it, and tranq it. I suggest taming it to save it

If your in ragnarok just go to the desert ponds or lakes and hover over with a griffin straight down and shoot it with your rifle

Bring a pteranodon or other flyer capable of grabbing. Diplocaulus spawn in swamps, and if you don’t pick it up to tame elsewhere, it will almost certainly be eaten by a crocodile. Even if it isn’t brutally eaten alive, you also happen to be on the menu for kapros, and may be killed or pulled away from the defense of your attempted tame.

For pve servers: you can pull these with grappling hooks but if the spook they will come free, hook them real it WAY out then you can jump on a flyer to cart it home - just fly high enough you don’t drag it into something bad.

Using a crosbow have chance of killing it it so i recommend using tranq dirts for this it's like archa kibble or raw prime meat

You guys know you can pick this up with a pteranodon, right?

They are in redwood swamp lake you can just carry them with argy

Finding and catching:

Diplocaulus is found in the swamps I'd say they're uncommon but predators will kill them if they're nearby making them hard to find. I strongly recommend using a flying Dino when looking for one I used a pteranodon for it but you can use whatever can pick it up. They're pretty simple to find but DO NOT TRY TO TAME IN THE SWAMP. Unless your really prepared I wouldn't recommend risking it. When I was catching it I picked it up with my ptera and put it in a taming pen at my base. When picking it up wait for it to be on land, because if it's in the water it's much harder to pick up or maybe it's not possible I don't know(I spent hours trying to pick one up in the water and died many times). It may take a while to find one on land it'll save you a lot of trouble.

Note: don't try to go for one that's already being attacked by another Dino especially kaprosuchus

Knocking out and taming:

In the pen knocking it out is simple just use tranqs or darts, also keep in mind the health you don't want it to die. When it's knocked out taming is like any other Dino just put the kibble or meat and wait. I starved mine to make the taming a bit faster and found that the hunger decreases relatively quick and you can speed that up by sleeping while it's torpor is around 3/4 or more. Not really much to say it's torpor drains slow so you won't need to many narcotics unless your starving it and by the end of the tame you should have yourself a newly tamed diplocaulus.

These creatures are rare so I would tame it but they are found in swamps so knock it out and build a wall around it everything wants to kill this thing or pick it up with a argent and go to your base

What I would do is I would fly on a pter or argent and I would find a croc chasing something and if it’s a diplocaulus pick it up and put it down somewhere safe.

One of my fav Dino’s. If you some reason like to travel through water use these guys cuz you can take breathe from them and basically breathe underwater

Really good dino to tame and the oxegen is very good and knocks out easy i would recomend

You can use raw fish if you don't have time for cooked prime meat

Best way to keep this creature alive while taming is to run it far away from danger. more often than not a kapro or sarco will come and kill while tamining.

There’s a area in the spawn we’re predators rarely spawn but the diplocaulus spawn takes a long time tho it’s a water area and no predators and if you wanna time it underwater there’s fish that’s gonna bite you but other than that it’s safe.

If it’s a low level bola and shoot it with tranq darts simple as that. If it requires over 4-5 darts use a bola, place 4 foundations around it for both sides front and back, then put 1 wall on the side closest to the tame for each foundation. Seems a bit overkill but if they have room to swim you will be playing a lot of cat and mouse

The easiest way to tame make a trap at your base then pick up with argue and put it in the trap

These things can be weak so don’t shoot them too much with tranqs otherwise they could die.

This thing is a floppy cute weird aquatic animal, found near water. Quite hard to find from my experience.

They are a bit glitched, many complaints said the one they where taming disappeared and as they where looking they found it floating high up into the sky.
