Bring a pteranodon or other flyer capable of grabbing. Diplocaulus spawn in swamps, and if you don’t pick it up to tame elsewhere, it will almost certainly be eaten by a crocodile. Even if it isn’t brutally eaten alive, you also happen to be on the menu for kapros, and may be killed or pulled away from the defense of your attempted tame.

Using a crosbow have chance of killing it it so i recommend using tranq dirts for this it's like archa kibble or raw prime meat

It's a scuba tank and flippers all in one. Also looks like those aliens off of Pitch Black so that's cool.

They have infinite oxygen until you take oxygen of it so u don’t drown.

To get the “Infinite Oxygen” back you need to take this creature to land.

Outside of not having saddle armor and being harder to tame, this little guy is essentially an upgraded Ichthyosaur. They give you oxygen like a scuba tank (abd available much much earlier) and are the best creatures for harvesting trilobites. Just don't expect much in the way of combat capability. You can't shoot off the back though, which reduces their usability for underwater taming. Perfect for resource cave runs. As they are amphibious you can take them over land to places other aquatics can't reach, although you will want a flyer to carry them because of how slow they are. Even a Pteranodon will work.

They're also skrunkly little salamanders, it's impossible not to love them.

They are in redwood swamp lake you can just carry them with argy

I saw one when I was flying around on my argy looking for a spino went down to look at it (I didn’t have a magnifying glass) and a sarco ate it

It's a living SCUBA tank!

But its hard do get out the swamp because there are lots of bad guys.

Can depend straight down slightly at a angle similar to the frog but not completely straight down, very useful to farm with combined with a dunk in a cryo, quick down and up and metallic treasure ahoy!

They have what I like to call “The Ovis Syndrome”, where a rare dino is made further rare by being weak and in a biome filled with predators. They are incredibly hard to find and even if found, usually they are halfway to being in the gaping maw of a Sarco.

If you want to tame one definitely bring an eagle to carry it away, even with an assault rifle (don’t use tames since they might accidentally kill the Diplo in the crossfire) it’s likely a snake or Dilo might sneak by and quickly kill your would be tame.

These creatures are rare so I would tame it but they are found in swamps so knock it out and build a wall around it everything wants to kill this thing or pick it up with a argent and go to your base

What I would do is I would fly on a pter or argent and I would find a croc chasing something and if it’s a diplocaulus pick it up and put it down somewhere safe.

Only way to get artifacts on primitive plus in ocean caves. Ride a high lvl with 4 or 5 sharks or barrys on follow aggressive

Will gather black pearls from trilobites. I had killed 6 in 2 minutes and gathered 4 black pearls on 1x.

Best way to keep this creature alive while taming is to run it far away from danger. more often than not a kapro or sarco will come and kill while tamining.
