ARK: Survival Evolved & Ascended Companion
Tips & Strategies

What are tips for dimorphodon? Tips and strategies for dimorphodon in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
This is just a tip for a general gameplay strat- not sure where to put general gamepkay stuff like this...sorry. Anyway, putting all your tames that stay at your base on Neutral is *the* way to do it. This way, they won't get into unnecessary fights, but if an arse of a dino decides to say an unwelcomed "Hello. It's me..." then they can at least defend them AND your base. Neutral puts your dinos on alert mode so that even if a wild dino starts attacking even your fence post, your dinos will whip into action and defend the base. Also, while out on tames, neutral mode allows your dino to protect itself and you while you throw it that damn kibble in a whirlwind of panick. *Literally* the best mode to be on at all times (of course, it'll work as well as per what lvl your dino friends are, but they'll still put up a valiant fight regardless!).
Get a C4 and attach it to one of these and then whistle attack. "Hunter killer drone deployed!"
Never accidentally hit these guys,
If you hit one of these, a bunch more will com to attack you, they're strong for their size,
What makes them more dangerous is when your on a mount they focus on the rider, so they will attack you and finish you off, without you knowing,
And when tamed they make great shoulder pets,
And if you have a dozen and target them on something, they will shred it
These little guys are great for base Defence. The first technique I mostly only use to defend against quetzals is strapping C4 to a low level dimorph, then whistle him to attack the quetz, and trigger the C-4. Just as he's closing in to bite the quetz. You might need four or five of these guys to down the quetz, but if you ask me, 5 10 minute tames are worth it for a game that probably took the opposition a few hours to tame. Another technique like to use to take out rexes gigas, and other tanky dinos, is go around, behind them with a swarm of dimorphs (don't do this against Brontos or any Dino with a huge AoE attack) Then whistle attack (which is ".") on the rider. They will shred through him so fast, he won't know what even happened. After the rider is off, you can easily trap the giga in a large bear trap, kite it off a cliff (or away from your base) or just kill it, when the Dino doesn't have a rider, it sacrifices attack speed which is a very vital part of PvP.
When tamed
1: can be used as a distraction of have enough hp
3: now they can deal with trikes with none dying
5: can protect you from raptors, troodons, and other small carnivores
10: now you can kill carnos with ease (with support from you with a gun or crossbow
15: I have this many and some have 1k hp, can kill rexes, spinos, and therizinosaur with little effort
My xp multiplier for my file was about 5 and it can get them to have at least 200 hp pretty quick. Thanks for reading this and up if this was useful!
I games my first one of these pretty early game, and she saved me so many times. I just made sure to up her movement speed, and she never had any problems with stegos or diplos or anything! It’s now nearly six months later, still have my original, and have literally about 27 of them. They constantly follow my tech quetzal, keeping her safe from any potential threats. They can take down and totally dismantle pretty much anything we come across instantly. One of my favorite tames for sure!
If you go into deep water they can’t attack you!
How2Tame #9: Dimorphodon
Welcome to How2Tame, and I, Zeta, will now teach you how to tame a Dimorphodon!
1. First, gather lots of meat and craft some bolas. Get narcotic too.
2. Sight a Dimorphodon and shoot it with a crossbow. Make sure the bolas are in your hot bar so that you can easily switch to them when you have your future tame's attention.
3. Once you bola the Dimorphodon, quickly punch it until it falls asleep. Feed it the meat and occasionally narcotic if the torpor falls too fast. Soon you will have your very own Dimorphodon!
4. Name your tame and make sure to feed it every ARK day.
All right, everyone, I hope this helped! My episodes are listed below, and good-bye for now!
Episodes
1. Dodo
2. Parasaur
3. Lystrosaurus
4. Dilophosaur
5. Moschops
6. Carbonemys
7. Compy
8. Triceratops
9. Dimorphodon
10. (Coming Soon!) Pteranodon
They attack you instead of your mount while fighting them, beware.
You will need this to tame it
1. 3-4 Bolas incase u miss
2. Tranq arrows and a bow or u can use your hands.
3. Give it raw meat
3.5 Feed it narcotics if it's about to wake up.
4. Congrats on ur new dino :)
- You can grappling hook them in the face and pull them to an easier spot to tame without pulling aggro. Touching structures and lag will break the grappling hook.
- Bolas work and are recommended, as their hitboxes are tiny and their wings block shots. Bolas aggro so make sure you're away from other Dimos
- For more bonus levels, don't feed the Dimo and let it's good drop a lot (starve taming). Then, rush all the Prime Meat you can into it at once.
This allows it to eat more prime meat without it expiring, which allows for MUCH more bonus levels and a faster tame.
You can mutate the hell out of these. Mine pop at 3800 health and 860 melee. After points and imprints i can put them to 4,100 health and 2,100 melee. The cryo sick timer is as fast as a giga so i bring 20 to cave pvp. Throw them all down at once in a safe location. Once they wake you put one on your shoulder and the rest on follow, pop a beer, put them all on aggressive and grab a flame thrower. The most fun you will ever have I swear lol
Literally OP. Like no creatures can hit it while it’s just flying around you, killing you. Go into a body of water, hide for a while, and they will forget. I saved Sarco I (dead) this way. (She died from megalodons and jellyfish)
