What is a dimetrodon used for? dimetrodon utility tips and strategies in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Per the wiki updated on August 7 2018 these amazing creatures potential to increase your egg incubation is boosted by increasing its melee damage. At 1000 melee damage it can incubate a wyrvn egg which requires 14 AC’s! Furthermore, this bonus can stack leading to a cheap and efficient hatching process without the need for power generation. On maps like Scorched Earth that have frequent storms these dinosaurs can be a literal life saver.
Dimetrodon kibble is one of the required kibbles for imprinting. However, it can be difficult to see when they lay eggs, as they will be on top of the eggs. To fix this, build a pen and put them all inside. Then, put them all on wander. If you have a male, you can leave him stationary, or neuter him and put him on wander.
This dude could be easily left, by whoever not interested in breeding, specialy as they're litterally a pain in the a.. to tame.
However, as soon as you get any interest about breeding, you'd find that incubate eggs are so much more annoying, so this big lizard became a definite must have
It's an otter, with less capacity :
Both can be used as AC, but this piece of s...t can't do anything else ;
Plus, it got the same turn radius of titanic, once it sunk (you want to take both your dimetrodons to the same place, to make the incubation easier, or to breed them, it would take almost forever, just because they doesn't turn)
Really useless, compared to the otter, specially considering the difficulty to tame it, and bring it to your base
