Taming & KO Tips

How do I tame a dimetrodon? Tips and strategies on taming and knocking out a dimetrodon.
save yourself a headache break into your kibble pocket! this guy with one or 2 kibble and just a small amout of narco berries its done in minutes as his food drains pretty fast but his his tapor drain so much faster so either bring enough tranqs for a gigga or please do yourself a favor and just crack that kibble pocket open for this one
Step 1. Get a Quetzal
Step 2. Find a Dimetrodon you’d like to tame
Step 3. Pick up the Dimetrodon with your Quetzal
Step 4. Carry your Dimetrodon to a taming pen
Step 5. Collect Bio Toxin and Quetzal Kibble
Step 6. Knock your Dimetrodon out
Step 7. Feed your Dimetrodon the Quetzal Kibble & Bio Toxin when needed
Step 8. Wait for your Dimetrodon to tame
Step 9. Give your Dimetrodon a name
Step 8.
Idk what type of redbull these guys be taking but they wake up as fast as a damn GIGA. I bringed 57 narcs when i tried to tame it and it still woke up in the end and walked away like nothin happened, make sure you bring like 100 narcs when taming it
Kill something (Moschops and Phiomia are good because they provide a lot of meat) before shooting it, then lead the Dimetrodon to the corpse as you tranq it. Around halfway through the process or when its low on health stand near the corpse and let the Dimetrodon attack you. It will consume the corpse as it attacks you, and regain health. This way there will be no risk of killing it. You can also use a Snow Owl to heal it if you have one.
TOPTIP:
These things have bad melee at any level. Their incubation effectiveness is tied to melee strength..
But if all levels of these have bad melee, than the only difference between a lvl 5 and a lvl 95 is the amount of narcotics you are going to waist and time you will spend taming the lvl 95.
Moral of the story: seek out a lvl 1(best case scenario).. DO NOT waist 1 second of your life on a high level tame with this spawn of satan.
Very easy to tame keep distance and shoot , bring lots of narcotics and bio toxin torpor drains fast
If you are on mobile
Trap him in a small trap
Sleep!!
Knock him out
Use soothing balm!
Feed him
You tamed it easly and fast
ALWAYS BRING NARCOTICS
These lil guys lose torpidity at lightning speeds, if you don’t have narcotics then you most likely won’t be able to tame one
Do you wanna tame this thing? Here a tip! Bring LOTS and I mean LOTS of narcotics preferably bio toxin, this thing at like 1000 of my bio toxin and so I left it for 10 seconds and it woke up and took like 2 stacks of meat and so always remember your gazillion bio toxin
These creatures needs alot of narcotics. When knocked out, wait for the torpor to drop. Then force feed narc (1 narc = 40 torpor). The torpor meter will slowly rise and give you time to do other things.
Also remember they need natural water in order to lay eggs. They cannot drown after a patch i belive
Use narcoberries, NOT narcotic. Torpor loss is paused while it's being gained, and berries cause torpor to rise much slower. It's the difference of being able to walk away for 10 minutes vs 2 minutes.
Pls make this carryable so some of us in ark mobile can tame these without getting killed
This guy was impossible I literally had to punch him to death and then it still didn’t work 😩😩😩😩😩🙁🙁☹️☹️😵😵😵
Mobile version sucks -_-
You can't carry em with an argy
When timing keep an eye on it.
Easy way to tame (Works if you have Argentavis or Quetzal):
Step 1: Go to the swamp with your Argentavis or Quetzal and search the area for Dimetrodon. Once one is found, pick it up and carry it somewhere safe (recommended: The Dead Volcano, or your base. Just make sure everyone is set to passive).
Step 2: Let it wander around for a while. Knock it out every so often to check on its hunger. If it is not hungry upon knockout, let it wake up and heal for a while. Repeat until it is completely starving.
Step 3: Once one of your checkups on the Dimetrodon via knockout reveals that it is completely starving, grab whatever meat you have as fast as you can (prime meat if its a high level). The starving status causes the Dimetrodon, as well as all other creatures tamed via knockout, to constantly eat every second until they are either tamed or not hungry anymore.
I did all of this myself at the Dead Volcano, which it arrived there via my male Quetzal, Flappy. Argentavis can also pick them up for delivery. Hopefully this helps.
Fast, Effective and Easy Taming Method (Starve Taming)-
1. Place a sleeping bag near your desired dimetrodon
2.Wait till night to sleep in it, clear out the area in the meanwhile (keep the prime meat you get, you’ll need it for later! Try storing it in a tame)
3. Once it’s morning, tranq out the dimetrodon and feed prime meat, no need for kibble this way because the dimetrodon will be so hungry it’ll tame in seconds!
Hope this helped! Spares you time and resources on getting a quetzal egg and making the kibble.
Ik people have said this but you can’t pick up dimetrodon on mobile unlike what Dododex says it is really annoying
These guys are hard to find because they sink into the mesh underwater. I recommend flying over the swamp with an argy looking for any signs of movement or sails. Sometimes they’ll be on the shores of the swamp, too, so check there.
Once you find one, pick it up (if you’re on an argy) and take it to a safer place. Otherwise, just kill any dangers in the area and chase it around with your tranq method of choice. Use their huge turning radius to avoid their bites.
Once tamed, level melee to increase their insulation. Good luck!
I was hoping to tame a gallimimus but then i needed dimetrodon kibble i check on dododex for taming and i find out i need quetzal kibble, a ton of quetzal kibble.
