Tips & Strategies

What are tips for dimetrodon? Tips and strategies for dimetrodon in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
These guys work well for mutation breeding projects that involve large egg layers. Breeding tamed like brontos, Gigas, and Carch's can take up a massive amount of space and sometimes you can't fit as many as you'd like indoors or inside your tek FF without them all stacking on top of each other. These guys let you spread out more and unlike an AC if you need to move it you don't have to waste valuable resources.
On genesis part two this thing is good for getting exp in the early game
Prim+ players!!! I struggled with these until I saw someone else here mention to use a HARPOON GUN and tranq bolts... literally a life saver. I've killed so many before trying bolts. 150 went down still with half his health. Pop yurts down face to face with you and dimet inside then do a little dance around while shooting it in the back (back fin works. Big target) boom. Down. Great idea I love it. Expensive but worth it.
Dont get stressed over its short wake up time, figure out how many narcotics it will take to fill its torpor from as close to 0 as possible, its about 1 stack for every 4000 torpor points. Place this in the inventory and allow your dimetridon to get as close to waking up as possible and then feed him all the narcotics at once. It will take just over 10 minutes for a stack of narcotics to take affect. This will give you time to look away and do other things.
Keep in mind, lower torpor (lower level dimetridons) may have less than 4000 torpor, in which case they will wake up sooner because they cant use a full stack of narcotics. Higher level dimetridons have closer to 8000 torpor, in which case you can feed them 2 stacks and they will take over 20 minutes to consume the narcotics.
Knock it out, load it up on narcotics, and while taming it use fence foundation plus walls to build it a little shelter very, very fast. Then run back to your base and request it! It’s too hard to keep alive otherwise.
Two shooters with Primative bows should fire as rapidly as possible. Once the sail is very bloody only one shooter should fire about every 10 seconds. Be patient it will stumble and eventually pass out. Be ready with narcotics. They can wake up in about 30 seconds if unattended.
No need to tame em, just drop em in a closed room with ur quetzal... Yes arge cannot carry it no... U still get the a/c effect from wild ones
The aborration variety seems more difficult to KO. Bring more darts. With the ease of getting biotoxion I woul recommend ShockingTDs
Do not pause between shots instead shoot the required amount of arrows/darts and wait for it to drop. Make sure you have plenty of narcotics as the torpor on these creatures will drop in the blink of an eye. Can be tamed solo but only with kibble due to the torpor time and can also be carried by a Quetzal if you prefer a taming pen.
Tame one female dimetridon because if you are raising baby spinos rexes Gigas or any other giant carnivore (medium size or small idk) there's a big chance of babies wanting dimetridon kibble and I know the some players problems is that dimetridon egg is hard to find from swamps and rivers so tame one female so it can lay eggs no need for male (unless for emergency kibble)
Side comment: I wish I had tame one sooner my spino just got 84 percent imprint :(
Good for egg hatching tho if you have many dimetridon (I'm an ark mobile player)
The only reason to tame this is to tame a Gallimus easier. Just tame a level 1 female for this. Trust me, 3 hours tapping "feed" is boring. Tame a low-level.
These guys have Low health, Be careful if you’re taming it with arrows. You can kill it very easily, when shooting with arrows wait about 10 seconds and then shoot another one. I used tranq darts with a Mastercraft Longneck. Also, Their torpor drops SO QUICK, LIKE A FREAKING GIGANOTOSAURUS! BRING A BUNCH OF BIOTOXIN OR NARCOTICS WITH YOU, NARCOBERRIES WONT CUT IT!
See them most often in the east swamp on the Island. Suspect it’s because of the amount of creatures that get eaten by the megaladons or wander off into the ocean. They have horrible survival rate due to the hostility of the swamp. Try masacring the dangerous creatures to refresh their respawn and secure the area for them.
