How to get a deinonychus:

-Deinonychus can't be tamed, and you can only get one by stealing their eggs and hatching them.

1. Tame a flyer like a pteranodon, and carry another smaller dino like a dodo.

2. Fly over the nest, and lure the deinonychus far away from the nest, then drop the dino you're carrying. You might not need a dino to carry with your flyer if there's a ciff nearby, because you can just lead the deinonychus down the cliff.

3. After you've lured away the deinonychus, you can go back to the nest and steal the eggs.

-Now you need to hatch the eggs. If you're using standing torches, I'm not exactly sure how many you need, but probably around 11-20.

-After you've hatched the egg, instantly fill up the baby deinonychus' inventory with meat.

These guys are awesome, even with a small pack of about 6 with a level of around 75 and you can take down alpha Rexs with no problem. I would really like to see these guys in other maps though maybe we can get them in the lost island

There eggs will hatch in the wild and you can claim them. Not for sure if this is intended.

TAMING

So first of all you need to steal egg fron nest (i recomend flier) so if parents not near just get off recharge stamina yoink egg and fly tf outta there

INCUBATING

Once you have egg (If youre in fjouldur or really cold zone)

Disable object collition in your ark settings (main menu>General Settings>Disable collision when putting structures>Put on)

Then build a 2x2 tatch hut and place 16 standing torches in a square form leaving a space for you to put egg put 12 wood on each torch (200 Total) put egg lit all torches and wait

Congrats! you have a nice dino btw FEED HIM OFF RIGHT WHEN IT HATCHES OR IT WILL DIE (Learned the hard way)

STATS

I suggest putting stmina health, Melee and weight

But speacially weight and stamina since the two are very low

TIPS

-To climb jump towards you wanna climb then face up and press jump again wait until it latches to the wall or tree then press again

-Put it in apack of attleast 3 for pack bonus minumum level for alpha is 45

-Following Deinos CANT CLIMB

-U can use weapons when mounted on him

-Saddle on lv 32 and really cheap

On fjordur go to 40 60 right by the realm portals up above it, you'll see a arch and boom nests, found 4 in that area

Just got 3 egg just with a pt with good stam and speed. Just go to a nest Withought many nearby, grab the egg and run, like your life depends on it. (Because it dose.) I got 3 eggs. But at cost.. I don’t think I’m able to physically handle that much pressure as a 10 year old child only with cloth armor 0-0 (or mentally)

But hey I got some eggs.

Heat required for incubation is the same as wyvern eggs so you need about nine campfires. Up if this helped:)

Is anyone else losing the eggs when you pick them up, they are spoiling immediately, is this a bug?

For anyone who plays like a scaredy cat so do i and I got them on valguero by leading all of the adults off a cliff with a pt and then taking the egg hope this helps

Getting eggs is super easy. Just put all your stuff in a chest, tame like a level two Pterodon, and make the Dienonychus yeet themselves off a cliff. Free eggs for you.

The nest respawn VERY fast. Like literally as soon as the area is out of render. If you hit up multiple locations you can make a route so you’ll never have to wait for eggs respawns.

During events when on 3x or better you can breed then to adult in less thsn 24 hours with just one 100% imprint.

When using an incubator to breed, temp is 85, thumbs up if this helps

Eggs are super easy to snag on multiplayer. Picked up my buddy with a Pteranodon and we flew around some ravines. Spotted a nest, made sure the coast was clear, dropped him into it and he picked up the egg, and I picked him up and flew off. Did this 5 times with no trouble. This is definitely doable on single player as well; just be extra careful and quicker.

Was able to fully imprint a lvl 120 🕺

The eggs need about 13-15 standing torches for it to be warm enough for them to incubate. Don’t stand near them for too long and watch the egg incubate unless you’re wearing ghille or have decent fortitude because you will overheat and die.

So, I have a bunch of deins on breeding- I’m mutating some nice colours, a green with red feathertips and a nice blue to compliment it all. Some guy, who I thought was cool and chill, keeps swooping in and stealing my eggs. All the mutations? He stole them. All the new eggs I need? Took them too. When I asked in chat, he lied, making up all kinds of ‘they glitched under the map’ and that nonsense. I go to his base and there they are, thirty or forty of MY deins from MY eggs. I’ve left a sign telling him to stop, but I don’t know if he will. I’ve been told (because im in the alpha tribe) that if they steal from me or my tribemates they’ll be banned. It’s really annoying- I spend months grinding up the mutations, then they just steal them. Then lie. It’s pve, so if it was pvp then sure, fair game, but it’s not. And I don’t get paid, or he doesn’t grind up at all, he just takes. It’s really annoyed me, like REALLY annoyed me. I’m pretty sure he knows who he is, and he better stop. Does anyone else see how unfair this is? Anyone else had similar experiences? Cause dam I hate him right now.

Tip use a pt to leade them away and then you can easily go steal the egg on fjordur it takes 16 to 18 standing fires -icedragon

To hatch surround with four Fireplaces. Also works for wyverns

The saddle as of 2025 isnt in prim+ and will prob not get added since they dont update the game anyomore (ase)

The saddle engram sometimes doesn’t work so look for the saddle before gathering the mats
