DO NOT USE A BOLA. THIS APPLYS TO BARYONYX, CARNO AND ALL LARGER DINOS. Also, by the time you can get a carno, a bary may be a better allround, however to deal with a carno, use tranq (to knock it for taming) or standard arrows with a good bow (upgraded regular or crossbow) or even a stronger alternative. Be sure to have a fast tame at standby or movement speed high incase you are not trapping the carno. The much rarer alpha version can spawn too, which is much more dangerous and cannot be knocked out or tamed, so be sure to look at its size and its glowing aura to make sure its an alpha (They are larger and glow orange) if you are facing one.

I'm playing mobile. My base is on the western peninsula by the red obelisk. There's a level 240 alpha carno chilling across the water from me. She has 46k health. God please save me.
If you get one aggro on you, just find the nearest dino and book it. They are kinda tarded and lose interest when other dinos are nearby.
Rule of thumb. If these guys attack your tame while you are riding on it, that means that it is not an apex predator. Apex predators include the rex, spino, giga, carcharo, rhynio, and I guess megatheriums too, so only wild versions of these dinos will be aggressive to the tamed versions.
Whoever said “tame a jerboa and use it as carno bait,” you are a monster.
So back when i was a new ark player i tamed 8 raptors just for defense, later on i spotted an alpha carno walking down the beach towards my base, and not wanting my newly tamed sarco, and trike to die, I did something any normal person with 8 raptors would do. Me and the pack and charged into battle, lets just say i lost all but one, Silver. Shes still alive today and happy, And we did kill the alpha carno.
Fun fact: on old ark mobile rexes were able to damage carnos and sometimes attacked them as prey, but now on ultimate mobile edition theyre best friends
My friend who is a noob was playing with me on mobile. I was helping them not die. I turn my Head for ONE second and they got killed by a carno. So, yes….. they thought it was a parasaur……how?
While setting up a base, a lv 40 alpha carno came out of nowhere to fight. I watched the fight with little emotion as this game has numbed me down so much. Luckily, I only lost two pterodons. Sadly, one of them was a lv 170

Get a jerboa and name it carno bait, if one aggros on you, toss it and boogie
