Tips & Strategies
Do NOT fight these if you only have beginner weapons! They actually can kill you if you don’t know what you’re doing (learned from experience)
You shoot with arrows until at 200 health then hit with slingshot feed mojo beries then wait
This is like if a Trike was a little worse at collecting and damage and a little better at swimming and tanking, great for beach dwellers as they can swim pretty quick even when encumbered, and an early decent harvest tame. I tamed a level 150, non single player settings and 3x taming speed, with a slingshot, about 200 stone, and 75 Mejo berries. I'd trap it first if you can, they can't break wood. Aim for the head, legs, and if you really can't hit those, the tail. Otherwise prepare to need a lot more stone. Bring supplies to repair your slingshot as well, and worst to worst, club it in the head. You can outpace them just walking backwards on land.
if you have about 30 mejoberries and tranqs than please try to tame one. i did and i do not regret it. once you knock it out give it mejoberries (they work the best!). let it eat for like ten minutes and boom you have one. they can carry a ton of weight and will protect you. i love mine and you’ll love yours
An easy way to tame this fat turtle it Slingshot it and run around in circles I reccomend shooting it in its head because it has BIG STRONG on its back (btw bring about 40 rocks for the slingshot) and when it is knocked out feed it berries and name it Sheldon
The carbonemys is perhaps one of the best creatures to tame in the early game, and provides decent protection against dilos and lone raptors. The carbonemys can easily be knocked out with a slingshot, and even a survivor with base movement speed can outrun one, making it one of the easiest tames for the early game. Not only can it carry a lot, it can be used a bait for taming (or escaping) big carnivores that would love to eat you and you (amazing pink dodo) for a snack.
PROS
Amazing for early game
Bulky
Can carry lots of stuff
An easy source of meat, keratin, hide, and XP for early game players
CONS
Really slow on land
Gets stuck on stuff a lot
Makes annoying wailing noises all the time
The carbonemys is only useful as a tank, but as a cheap tame, they certainly can tank a ton, so here’s a guide to tame one (especially useful for Tusoteuthis taming)
1. These overgrown turtles can be found along almost all beaches on the southern end of the island (on other maps just look around the edges of large bodies of water) and sometimes they may be in the water. They are a knockout tame so make sure to prepare 25ish tranqs (for a high level) or 15ish tranq darts (again, for a high level).
2. You can use mejos, however, for a high level it is better to use kibble, for the extra speed and effectiveness. Beware, though, because these things absolutely inhale kibble. For a max level on single player bring 25ish regular kibble
3. The best strategy for taming these is to walk backwards away from it and shoot its legs or head. DO NOT SHOOT ITS SHELL OR TAIL! (It will take reduced damage and therefore torpidity). You can trap it if you are unable to maneuver well enough but it will cost extra resources. It’s torpor drops slow enough you won’t need extra narcotics to feed it
Happy taming!
Should get this dino early, has good health and can help you travel along the coast (in the water of course), to tame Just use your slingshot with Stones and walk backwards watch out to not get stuck on a rock.
Some people think this guy is powerful but they just annoy me and my friends like dodos,
So we kill them and feed them to our dinos the end.
1like= I’ll tame 2 and not kill them
👁👄👁 like rn
If you are going to tame one of these be on ahigh place gat loys of rocks and slingshot it, they’ll kill you if your where they can reach you. These things can pack a punch and tank alot of DMG be careful when taming them! And you need berries to tame them
When trying to tame jump on its back so it can't damage you and it can't run away so fast effective knockout
Firstly make an crosbow or an bow
Then make some tranq arrows them from some distance shoot arrows at carbonemys
Also find a low level carbonemys for easily tame
Then put berries and narco berries or narcotic for unconscious
Then it will tame
These guys are big turtles. When you hit it there go nuts on you. When I was a......noon I thought they run when you hit them so I hit one.I was like"I'm goanna wreck" your face and he was like"oh no you don't ".And it killed me.
These are good for beginners because they are fairly bulky fairly strong but they are slow. How to tame
1. Trap one (in a log of some sort or two trees next to each other)
2. Get a club or something that will knock it out
3. Get any berrys exept narco Berry's to tame it
How to tame a giant turtle:
1.get slingshot and lots of stones
2.find a giant turtle
3.shoot them they are not fast
4.when they run away that means they are close to get knocked out so keep shooting
5.when it gets knocked out feed it the things you can tame it with like berries and crops
6.name your giant turtle (I named mine carnaby)
When taming or attempting to knockout the sling shot is your best option. You can easily get a knockout without taking damage by shooting while backing away since the carbonemys will begin following you after the first shot.
