it’s not so hard to tame it, you need something that can fly and some stone buildings:

1. i built 4 square stone foundation, put around it stone door frames twice to height and to any of it put 2 of ramp outside

2. just bait him to this stone box, you can do it by flying from right direction, or you can do it by walk, just bait him and quickly run to box, you can go through door frames, it can to it

3. give torpor to it, i used crossbow and tranq arrows

4. it eats ONLY fish, but i used blue kibble (to 68 lvl i spent 3 of them

5. done

Great for taming basilosaurus. Stun and kill the manta hoard around it (and any sharks) and then tame the whale at your leisure.

You can't stun creatures on land they can only stun in water

I tamed mine when I first unlocked my tranq arrows.

Note :- 1) Tame a level 6 or 7 when you

are in low level.

2) They are Piscivorous so they

only eat fish meat.

3) Mostly found in swamps but

sometimes they do spawn in the

southern islets.

This Dino is a MUST tame for transition between early to mid game. Forget about sarcos, megaladons, or itchy’s. This thing is the best water tame you can get. They’re faster than spinos on water and land. They eat anything underwater for breakfast because of their special attack. They’re also great on land as well because of its speed and damage. Its special attack immobilises creatures (only works in water) for enough time for you to kill them. It has infinite oxygen and I think it’s the perfect Dino for caves on both land and water. Nothing can stand up to it in water, and when I say nothing I mean absolutely nothing. It’s stun is absolutely broken no doubt.

Dinos like thyla, sabertooth, or direwolves are great cave Dino’s but baryonyx is so much better. It’s because they are extremely fast and they deal good damage. One of the best things about them is that they heal so fast if they eat fish meat. They are fish eating Dino’s so if you want good results make sure to keep fish meat in its inventory instead of regular raw meat. It’s crazy how they can heal thousands of health in a matter of minutes with fish meat without force feeding. I personally think this is why they’re the best for caves

I recommend getting the Barry as soon as u unlock its saddle. Their easy to tame because their not that big so just find a small hill or use a tanky Dino as bait while u shoot it with tranqs. Or just simply use a bear trap if it’s a low lvl

The way i tamed my first Barry (lvl 89):

I used my arg which has around 6500 health as bait and I simply just shot it with tranqs. It took about 25-30 tranq arrows on a journeyman crossbow.

Journey man is one the many qualities of items that you can get from the supply drops or from killing alpha Dino’s (got mine from killing an alpha raptor)

In my experience, Low lvl Barry’s (up to level 40 or 50) take very less amount of tranq arrows to knock out, about 15-25. They’re an easy tame and like I said, Great first tame definitely recommend it.

Great mounts for gen 1 bog biome . I recommend starting with a frog first though so you can travel to find one. Just get materials to tame one from H-L-N-A

If you ever see one alone, get the heck out of there. It will kill your friends, your family, and everyone you ever met. Including you. I had a shotgun. And I killed one. Then sometime later, a Baryonyx comes and eats my Tapejara, my raptor pack, my rex, and most of my thatch home (Don't ask) I ended that Baryonyx with my trusty shotgun I named Cal.

Posting a good use for every creature in ark.

The baryonix one of, maybe the best, caving tames in ark. It is great on land except for the underwhelming health stat (that can be fixed with some muts). On top of that it is superb in caves that have some water like the hunter cave that have plenty of sarcos. The main water attack is the tail spin, it stuns the sarcos and gives you time to exterminate the problem or escape (depends on if you want the high or low honor ending). Probably second best, after the thyla (mean tree kitty)

I am very depressed to learn that the saddle is at level 49. I tamed it at level 21 and am currently at 30. (This is my second profile I am level 70 or so in ASE mobile). This is not the first Dino that I am upset at the saddle level… the pterranadon I tamed at level 10 carno I tamed while I was level 25.

Pro tip: if you cant find these guys, kill everything in the swamp or river. Creatures belonging to the same biome share "spawn slots".

ok literally my new favorite tame, not only is the bary a powerhouse for fighting and a demon of speed on both land and water, but you can shoot off its back. great caving tame because its slender, fast and powerful and on top of all of this, it’s stamina is good even from the time you tame it. 10/10 good tame (just don’t try and bola it).

I killed a Rex, Spino, and bronto with mine. It’s only level 30. Safe to say they are kings of killing things.

I intentionally tamed one while it hit my raptor 100 times… the raptor is still alive and healthy…

How to tame:

For levels below 55 and above 25:

If you have the 4 of these engrams (One is optional,) (Crossbow, Tranq Arrow, Large Bear Trap, and the optional one, Baryonyx Saddle,) Create at least two large bear traps (I’ve had my experience with one bear traps.) After, create about 20 - 40 tranq arrows depending on the level of the Bary. After that, create a crossbow in your smithy (7 metal ingots, some wood, and around 30 fiber.) Finally though optionally, create a baryonyx saddle.

Steps:

1: Find a Baryonyx.

2: Kill off any carnivore that could interfere with the taming (Such as Kaprosuchus and Titanoboa.)

3: Place 2 Large Bear Traps (Make sure they are spaced apart.)

4: Lure the Baryonyx in (Usually by crossbow.)

5: Shoot it with Tranq Arrows (Shoot it at the head.)

6: :)

7: Shoot it with Tranq Arrows.

8: Wait until the Baryonyx is unconscious (Baryonyx has infinite oxygen.)

9: Repeat step 2.

10: Baryonyx does not eat raw meat; feed it fish meat by putting it in it’s inventory.

11: Scan for hostiles eternally (The Compy (Compsognathus) will eat your Baryonyx’s corpse.)

12: Wait.

13: :) Great job, great job! Name it then put the saddle on it.

Stats: A extinct genus large-sized theropod with a croc-like snout could move very fast on land and on water. It has a interest in weight and after tamed, never eats raw meat; so feed it fish meat. It has high health, and is versatile in most situations. It also does a lot of damage, too! Baryonyx will not rage on you (unlike the Giganotosaurus,) and most small carnivores know not to bother it except Kapro and Utahraptor (Raptor.) Some small carnivores WILL attack you while riding on your Baryonyx such as Compy, Deinonychus, and some invertabraes.

Never use these dudes in the lava cave no matter how hard you try,they will easily be pushed off by the bats to lava and die with you.I lost mine :(. RIP Grim
