They usually spawn at low level... DO NOT try to pick them up from the water!!! They will kill you and your mount. Wait until they come op for land

If you see an iguanadon then make sure it’s not one of these

1: Do not fight them in water under any circumstances

2: Lure them on to land

3: Use a bola

4: Attempt to Tranquilse with bow and arrow or better

Remember: They can only be tamed with fish meat and they usually kill all the fish in the area so you should probably have some prepared beforehand.

One is surrounding my area where I tame parasaurs, trikes, carbonemyses, diliphosauruses, igunadons, and pteranodons. My plane is to bola it, then kill or tame it. The baryonyx is near water.. should I do this.. I could lose my dinosaur(s). I’m scared

Useful to level yourself up. Can easily kill four sharks at once. Good for black pearl diving. Can keep large predators off and hunt down the sea spiders

Basically just a way better sarco. It has no oxygen stat, and can go quickly on land and in water if it's sprinting.

YOU CANNOT PICK THEM UP WITH ARGIES, I tried and ended up getting dismounted due to touching water and nearly got killed. Lure them onto land and either trap them or go ontop of a rock ad they are insanely fast. Starve them down and feed fish meat.

Baryonyx are the best caving dinosaurs

SomeGamerGuy’s 101 to tame a baryonyx!

What you will need:

4 stone foundations

Although I haven’t tested it with this low, 8 stone doorframes

2 stone ramps

1 crossbow with full durability, primitive is ok, though I recommend higher tiers.

50-70 tranq arrows just to be safe.

Find yourself a nice and high level baryonyx, a 120-150 is good.

Place the stone foundations in a 2x2 frame near the baryonyx, this will be the base of your trap.

Place the stone doorframes onto the frame to make it look like a cage.

Then, place the ramps pointing to where the baryonyx is, for example if the baryonyx is north of the trap, place the ramps facing north.

If you did this correctly, the ramps should be able to lead the baryonyx into your trap, which should be a cage without the top.

Shoot the baryonyx to get its attention, and lead it into the trap by running into it and walking out since the doorframes are too small for the baryonyx to walk past.

Tranq it out on the head nice and easy.

Now this part is important.

Baryonyx is a strict fish eater.

Feed it rap prime fish meat or kibble for the best results. I BELIVE its regular kibble you feed it.

And there you go! The saddle should be unlocked at level 40-50.

The baryonyx can tail sweep underwater, but it just ended to be touching water in ASE.

It is a good mount for underwater, especially early game.

Please note that some of this info may be incorrect. Please look for other tips if you want to know how to set up a trap, since I was probably kind of vague.

The baryonyx is a very useful tame to have. They are fast on foot and in water, and have decent damage and health. A unique ability the baryonyx has is tail spin attack. It can only be done in water and it stuns any creature that is in its range, letting the baryonyx do a decent amount of damage without taking any. This makes them a viable as a creature for the underwater caves. Their speed on land, medium size and their long jumping makes them an amazing creature for caves on land as well.

WARNING: wild baryonyx can also do the spin attack in the water and can also dismount you from your tame and stun you even if you have a baryonyx yourself, so be careful.

I finally knocked this bad boy then a stupid freaking raptor! (My raptor) thought it was still alive and killed it then gather the rest of it :(

Very nice tame to have around. In the water they have a stun strike and are excellent runners, swimmers, and jumpers. They have strong attacks and can hit enemies at the right angle to where you are never hit until it’s dead. Easy tame as well, just bow and trap arrows pack a few cause sometime they will run before falling unconscious. You can find them in swamps and beaches walking the shore.

You can pick it up with an Argy--doesn't make sense, but it makes taming a breeze.

Trapless Taming Method

⚠️This is what I do and this method may not work for everyone. ⚠️

I take a high-health take (think a turtle or something) that allows weapon use on the mount. Let the Baryonyx attack your tame while you shoot it with tranq arrows/darts. MAKE SURE THIS IS ON LAND! If you are in the water, the Bary WILL knock you off your mount and stun you. They will flee after enough hits but they'll be knocked out after fleeing for a little. Good luck survivors! (I used this method on a lvl. 100 female, I named her Lilypad).

Not sure if anyone new about this, but apparently they can heal well when they kill and eat fish, specifically Salmon, Pihrannas, and Coelocanths

Do not get in the water with one of these guys they will kill you if you are at starter level I never have had one but would love to hope this helps anyone

Does not farm hide well, at least that’s what I’ve found from my experience

Do not confuse with an iguanodon from a distance and come running, or worse, swimming, at it to kill it. Just don't.

it’s not so hard to tame it, you need something that can fly and some stone buildings:

1. i built 4 square stone foundation, put around it stone door frames twice to height and to any of it put 2 of ramp outside

2. just bait him to this stone box, you can do it by flying from right direction, or you can do it by walk, just bait him and quickly run to box, you can go through door frames, it can to it

3. give torpor to it, i used crossbow and tranq arrows

4. it eats ONLY fish, but i used blue kibble (to 68 lvl i spent 3 of them
