like most small to medium sized creatures, a decent lvl horse can knock them out quick before they can escape. nice utility tames (organic parachute) as far as encountering goes....well good luck distinguishing them from microraptors......

Pressing the square button on PS4 stops them from flapping, press the button again to continue, timing the button presses properly will allow you to descend rapidly with no fall damage.

If you pick it up… and jump off a cliff and……….. glide.

The reload button toggles the glide off and on (always on by default) but beware! If you turn it off and gain fall speed, when you turn glide back on you will be slowed, but not 100% immune to fall damage anymore. You can still survive a fall from the skybox, if you have at least 200hp.

I first Tamed one of these lil guys on Scorched Earth. It was so much fun to glide around with. It was also great because I would get around quickly and use less energy. Even more so I would be out of reach of the 10000 sabres, wolves, cargos and thorny dragons. Best 10 mins of my ark life until a guy with his wyvern came and cooked us...

These guys make great chibi/skin storages. They eat chitin, you won’t really need to worry about them starving if you fill their inventory with it. Using this as a parachute is okay however you can’t use any hand items,(weapons, spyglass, etc….) while holding the Archaeopteryx. They fall to slowly. You can cancel the glide while falling and can’t re-enter the glide later, that I’m aware of. They’re better to be cryopoded and used in caves as gliders if you want to safely jump over gaps.

Idk if its not obvious to anyone else, but these things make it possible to tame something in mid air, even though you move slowly.

If you get a beelzebufo (frog) you can use it to knock one out, they can be hard to control but they can jump to hit an archa already on a tree (it’s hard to do though)

They are awesome name idea? Dive Bomb! Cause if you want to dive then glide again press reload button!!

Its an infinite parachute that doesnt weigh a lot you just have to feed it

I just found this out, you can use this buddy as a parachute

You can’t pick up a wild one with a argy! They glide out

I found one when exploring the lake/river in the redwoods, it was getting dark so I decided to rest beside a cliff for safety when I heard a scream and seen a white blurry past me, luckily it was running face first into the rocks so I threw a bola and smacked it with a club until it went to sleep, now I have a really cute parachute lizard bird.
