Tips & Strategies

What are tips for ammonite? Tips and strategies for ammonite in ARK: Survival Ascended & Evolved.
Combat
This section describes how to fight against the Ammonite.
General
The Ammonite is a non-aggressive animal that will not attack the player on sight.
Strategy
The shell of the Ammonite is tough and resilient against most weapons. Therefore, players should target the tentacled head, which is vulnerable to damage.
Weaponry
A Pike is the best used for close quarters, as the weak area is quite small and hard to aim with a crossbow or rifle. It is also recommended to kill all wild animals nearby, as these will become hostile when you attack the Ammonites.
Dangers
The Ammonite itself is not a danger, however, when attacked it will release a green substance into the waters, causing nearby wildlife to become aggressive for a whole minute. An Ammonite hunt can quickly become overwhelmed by masses of normally passive animals. Its rage effect will last for 60 seconds. Also, the underwater caverns and depths Ammonites dwell in have their own dangers, such as mass shoals of Cnidaria, as well as many other terrors of the deep.
Weakness
The Ammonite will not fight back in any way, making for a rather easy kill so long as there are no other animals nearby.
Hit him and everything will pull up on you and try to take your life privileges away
Guess how I found out there was a 105 Tusoteuthis in the water with me....
Don't hit them. Just... dont't
Ammonite is passive, and when you hit it, you (or your mounted tame) will get the Buff/Debuff "Rage" (depending how you look at it)
With the Buff/Debuff, everything nearby will have a sudden, uncontrollable urge to kill you. Even the Parasaurs!
You can find Ammonite dwelling in the deep ocean, usually alone or in groups of 1-3. They are untameable. They drop Ammonite Bile, used to craft Pheromone Darts. If you get hit with "Rage", Prepare for that Alpha Mosasaur you thought you had outrun or that Tuso to come out and slaughter you. Or just get offed by a Coelacanth. Both is good.
This is the Justin Timberlake of the waters. Don't mess with it or get all the crazy fans coming after you(other sea creatures). If looking to kill, get rid of other sea creatures beforehand.
If you accident hit these, RUN LIKE HELL. Everything around you is coming for you. I also went to the surface and stegos and a few trikes tired to attack me.
If you attack it EVERY LAND OR OCEAN ANIMALS WILL ATTACK YOU 😂😂
It’s favorite food is “admincheat ForceTame” which is got from punching its friends and it is a passive tame AND YOU CAN RIDE IT WITHOUT A SADDLE SO EASY EARLY GAME TAME
Legend say, there is a naked man swim approaching it, punch it with only his fist. And incredible... he won
Yes.... The megalodon won
The Yutyrannus of the Sea.
Dododex says not enough words.
This thing is the exact equivalent of that ‘cool’ girl (who is just a spoiled brat and good for nothing; If you get mad at this tip then it could mean you). Touch her once and then all of the school bullies (Tusos, mosas, plesiosaurs or the entire ocean) comes to beat you up. How do you fight them? A basilosaurus, I swear it works (probably the equivalent of a teacher giving detention to all of them) killing all of them. Trust me, basilo are tanks and good fighters and is not effected by eels or jellyfish. A few will do. Ride on one and the rest odder them to attack the tuso while you attack the mosa and then the plesiosaur then the smaller creatures.
If you don't like getting gangbanged punch it in the Mosa cave, you'll be safe!
Very useful for gathering black pearls cuz not only can you get black pearls from them, you can use the rage effect to lure all eurypterids in a fairly large radius out of hiding and kill them for even more black pearls. I recommend using a basilosaurus to do this cuz you will most likely get gangbanged by a bunch of anglers and eels after attacking an ammonite. The wide aoe of the Basilo allows you to hit anything from well in front of its mouth to just behind its butt, so you can kill everything around you by just sitting there and spamming attack. They are also immune to eel and jellyfish stun attacks. Once I was collecting black pearls on my lvl 260 Basilo when I got swarmed by a tuso a mosasaur 4 plesiosaurs 2 dunkleoteus 5 eels 10 anglers a few eurypterids and a few more jellyfish. I killed all of them and only lost 2K out of my 21K health and my Basilo only had a basic primitive saddle.
Clear out the area before attacking. If you don't a lot of things will get swarmed. It's better just to take them out 1 by 1.
TIPP: How to trap a Leedsichthy (the giant whale)
In this tutorial I will Show you how to easily trap a Leedsichthy.
Before I start with the tutorial i want to say that there are 2 ways to trap him. The 1st way is that you build a giant square inside the water where he can fit in and the 2nd war is that you leed him inside the "river" of the Red Obelisk and close both entrys to the river. Just follow those steps:
1) surch for a Leedsichthy and remember where he is (they often spawn near Herbivore Island)
2) Go to the Bottom of the ocean and surch for a Ammonite. When you find one let him bite you.
3) go to the leedsichthy and lead him inside your giant square or the river of the Red obelisk and close up all entrys.
4) kill all fishes except the Leedsichthy
5) Enjoy scrabing of his prime fish meat (he wont get aggro as long as you dont hit him)
I trapped mine inside the River of the Obelisk
