On mobile these are few and far between but you need chitlin for everything so what to do.
1. Get an itchy and saddle it, that’s the transport you need to travel to the safe beaches.
2. Crossbow and arrows and go find turtles, climb a rock and shoot the turtle but always expect a few to show up so minimum 40 arrows and a back up crossbow, sword is also very handy in case the crossbow dies.
3. Harvest the turtle with a pick axe, the better the pick the more keratin it produces. Turtles are all around the whole island keep moving and don’t clean them out of one spot completely this will help respawn in that area.
4. I’ve found the trilobites just don’t respawn at all so had to find other ways. Trikes, stegos also yield keratin but not even close to turtles. Kill 3-4 turtles and your up 20 keratin for cementing paste, glass or armor.
If you happen to fall off the rock just run a little ways and turn around you’ll have time to get a few more shots off, keep doing it until it drops.

When u need one u will never find one
When I was on like level 20 in single player i used to find these guys everywhere, and i thought they were only useful for a handful of chitin. Now I’m on level 88 and i actually NEED black and silicia pearls and oil I haven’t seen one in months.
Kill on site they give chitin oil and pearls when you need them they disappear
Use a hatchet or megatherium to harvest for max silica pearls and oil. Gives about a stack of chitin with a primitive metal hatchet and loads with the mega.
They are in the most around the red oblesc (sorry I spelled that wrong) tons got 500 black pearls and I'm not even trying to count all the silica pearls. Also a titano that became one with the fish
All you need is a spear or pike and you have a good source of silica pearls,black pearls,and chitin st low levels.
Most people don’t seem to know this, but they can be found in large numbers in the snow area on the island. Personally, I was at the area where it was ice turning to regular grass, and I saw around 6 just walking around there, but sadly I couldn’t harvest them because there was also a pack of rexes and carnos, and it wouldn’t be worth it. -Zakiel

On the island .. the bottom left island. Coords aprox 80 lat, 35 long. Usually a common first spawn place. All around that little u shaped island
