Avoid the red woods lol. Unless you’ve got a death wish

If this thing grabs you just shotgun it and try and survive. If it’s a high level you are probably dead, but try and shoot it anyway, there’s a chance of survival.

If you see it on the tree then land somewhere safe and shoot it off. If ur on a griffin you can shoot off the back obviously.

FLY ABOVE THE TREES IN THE REDWOODS, THESE THINGS ARE DEVILS!!

Use an owl to find them, come from above and knock out of tree with your heal, kite to trap and tranq.

You can just make a 2x2 and make 16 stone doors and pick it with a wyvern and trap it

If you are crossing the red woods on a flyer, go higher than the trees, these things ripped me of my ptera and violated me so many times

Pro tip, the fastest way to find/tame is to have a shock tranq dart gun and fly low through the redwood “searching” for one. Always be ready.

Pray that you won’t run into a thylacoleo with a taradatol

Getting thylo’ed has the highest chance of giving you a heat attack

Tip: These thing love cooked meat sooooo much that they prefer cooked meat. Cooked mutton chops and extraordinary kibble work the best.

Get a wyvern it might take you of your wyvern so be careful step 1 find thyla you want step 2 strategy 1 make a trap step 3 strategy 2 use bear trap step 4 strategy 3 let wyvern tank it all and shoot it step 5 shoot with tranq arrows step 6 feed meat ( mainly cooked meat it likes more especially cooked lamb chop) I used step 4)

This dino is incredible for caving in every Scorched Earth cave and really good in most Island caves, highly recommend

They’re easier to get in the desert rocky biome on some maps. They can be netted if you have one. Easier to build a trap though. Up to save some hassle

They’re great pets once you have one but the worst part of finding one! 1 it’s very hard to see due to the foggy, murky read woods 2. You can never see it on a tree until you suddenly get pounced! 🤦

Best tactic I've come up with is to (double check before entering red woods) have your flyer following you and on Neutral/Attack your Target. When you're pounced off your mount, use a melee weapon in quick slot 1 (sword works perfectly) while your flyer backs you up in a few seconds, you'll almost certainly make it :P

Fly high and they cant dismount you. Otherwise avoid flying through redwood!

if you have a sword and decent armor, you should be ok if you get pounced on by a low level one. i know this because it’s happened to me multiple times, and i’ve always been able to kill it before i got too much damage. just kill it quickly enough so it doesn’t kill you with the bleeding rebuff it gives
