So after hearing about things in the redwoods that take you off your mount I went flying about for literally days with no issue what so ever, I’m thinking what’s the big deal? I start hunting for some prime meat and hide to take back to base in time for imprinting and suddenly out of nowhere I’m flying backwards off my argent and am chomped by this guy, lvl 10, I fight back and get released, I am lvl 98, tho I’m quickly killed before I can draw my mastercraft crossbow. My only imprinted bird and my xbow are now with my corpse near the edge of the redwood. My lvl 220 spino munched the tree hugger and I got my bird back after a second trip back to search. Moral of the story, these guys are legit savage and need be tamed ASAP

My hate for these guys is immeasurable
It all started when I played ark for the first time, I had managed to tame a high level tapejara and absolutely love him. I named him Barry and we set off on many adventure exploring the island. On day I was just flying through the redwoods and usual taunting the carnivores below me for not being able to touch me. BAM the thylacolia jumped out the trees and ripped me off Barry. Barry was whistled on nuetral and as he came down to aid me a desperately tried to get him on passive, but I was panicking, my screen shook as I was terrified as this was my first encounter of one. I tried to punch it but I inevitably died. I respawned and immediately got on my pteradon but just as I got on the saw the message in big red letters that Barry had fallen to the thylacoleo.

The redwoods are now basically a no fly zone, I lost a quetz, and a pter to these b******s. They jump out of the tree, rip you off your mount, and then pin you and your mastercraft armor to the ground and murder you.
You can't even run from these. Just accept your quick and painful death.

This genuine monstrosity of a creature ended my first run I spent days on, I was trying to get obsidian at the volcano but I was stationed in the the south so I decided to fly over with a pteranodon get a bit of obsidian and go back. However last time I went around redwoods (it gave me a bad feeling) and I was fine then on the way back I cut through redwoods and again I was fine. Then I went again and again went through redwoods excited to get some obsidian when suddenly my screen was shaking, I was getting mauled and I was no longer in the sky. My pteranodon died and I lost all my stuff, I had no other pteranodons and all my stuff was gone. I didn’t play for a few months then came back and restarted and for 2 years have never ever stepped foot in the redwoods. I’m going to try again though but in a bronto house surrounded by rexes always following and a few raptors just in case it gets inside.

I'd rather bring a mek rather than any other dinos that's exposed rider saddle.

Wanna find one? Simply mind your own business flying through the redwoods and they'll find you! Just make sure you can take some fall damage and that your tame is set to passive so it doesnt kill the thyla. (I know this seems like a joke but this is legit the only way I know how to find them.)
