Let me tell you the story of how I tamed my Tapejara. I was searching for a high level Tapejara but was having no luck finding one. My search took my from the south all the way to Fars peak in the northeast. This is when I saw a giga and got sidetracked and started messing with the giga by attacking its tail and getting out of there before it can bite back. After shaving ~15K health off the giga it randomly attacked a wild Tapejara. It survived and flew away. Once a Tapejara is spooked one of the only way to tame it (on mobile at least) is by killing it and reviving it at a revival platform, but you need to retrieve the animal’s implant from its dead body. So I just killed the fleeing Tapejara thinking that it was probably some lvl 20 trash, and that’s when I realised it’s a lvl 150 (max on my world). Its body plummeted into the bottom of a lake where I spotted a baryonyx not long ago and it was getting dark. I was debating whether to try to retrieve its implant or not. I decided to risk it. I landed my pteranodon on a rock and jumped into the lake. It was pitch black underwater and I had to swim back to my pteranodon to reconfirm the position of the body. But all I saw on shore was a wild carno... and then I realised I was swimming in the wrong direction so I turned around and successfully got back to my pteranodon. After reconfirming the position of the body I jumped into the lake again, but soon, bam! The baryonyx stunned me. Luckily I had an ascendent sword and killed it in a few hits. I still couldn’t find the body so I went back to my pteranodon, this time to build a mental map of the lakebed. I jumped in for a third time and in the darkness, I saw the outline of a body. I opened its inventory and retrieve the implant seconds before the body decomposed. I immediately flew back to base. After landing my pteranodon I left the game, turned off my phone, and asked myself: wtf just happened. After a few hours I opened the game again and collected material for the revival platform and the cage I was planning to build around it. The next day I was finally ready to tame the Tapejara. I decided to play it safe and still wear a gillie suit and use a bola to tame it (just like how you would normally tame one) and use the cage around the revival platform as a fail safe (spoilers: best decision of my life). As the Tapejara was being revived and I was charging my bola the behemoth gateway of my cage randomly opened. The Tapejara flew towards the opened gate... I managed to bola it just before it left the cage. After two tranq darts to the face with my ascendent longneck rifle, it was down. I murdered a stego and a rex, stole their prime meat, and tamed up the tapejara. I named him “luckiest man alive”.
